i saw one of those "factories" in China few years ago. A friend working there said that apparently only about 10-30% of customers ask for a refund and since they are selling garbage(bought from major manufacturers the cheapest (grade c or worse = garbage) in wholesale) they would still make profit even if 90% of customers had to be refunded. biggest problem is that platforms(like ali mentioned in this video) keep shutting them down and they have to keep reopening new sellers accounts. There is a minimal risk of being busted by authorities but from his experience hes only ever heard of a few of these busts/raids in over a dozen years. So unless something changes i would not expect this problem to go away anytime soon - so just use your common sense(too good to be true rule) and make sure to buy wherever you can ask for a refund from a platform itself and not only from a seller(they might be gone by then with new name/account open)
Probably the best and most explicit/honest video on fake products (in this case storage) from Chinese resellers I´ve seen on TH-cam. No fuss, just how it is and works with the dispute process and all. Thumbs up!
It's sad to see what Mikael tells us, that there isn't any good Software which could unveil the real capacity of a fake SSD, because I"ve known that there's a software imbedded in the device which simmulates those terabytes, cheating any and every benching software, which check it as a good and faithful device. Then he says that we could find a Script or a Link in the Description that could do the job, but I couldn't find that. I went to his Profile, but there's nothing about that there too. Does anybody know something about that?
Have had one of those 2TB 2.5" SATA SSD's. Complained to seller who did not listen. Opened dispute with Aliexpress and after some forth and back I got my money back, but Aliexpress did NOT acknowlegde the drive was fake. SHAME ON YOU ALIEXPRESS!
Walmart sells same crap now.... beware.. Walmart will not stand behind their umm 3rd party sales........ wd reds which are not but are goldfirs t650 1000. Read write via usb just fine so far but sata connection .... nothing.. smh
Thank you for sharing the video with the helpful information. Unfortunately, I fell victim to a scam last year when I purchased a solid-state drive that was supposed to be 1 TB. After installing it, my computer kept crashing, and I initially thought it was a software problem. However, after some time, I realized that the SSD was the root cause of the problem. I replaced it with a genuine SSD, and my computer has been working smoothly ever since.
Many thanks for very descriptive video. I almost fell for a ssd, as there are many reviews with five stars. Either the reviewers are ignorant OR fake. You saved me good 30-40 USD and most of all, saved from the embarrassment.
I was going to buy a suspicious 1tb sata ssd on Ebay from a Chinese seller and I asked the seller if it was fake and he straight up told me they were. Some sellers will only tell you the truth if you pry for it, and even then they speak in a sort of riddle to avoid directly answering the question but they answer it non the less.
You should never cheap out on storage. If you cannot afford an ssd from a good source, wait a little more or buy a good quality HDD, if you have this option.
Yes but also no, there is lot of reputable chinese SSD brand around in Aliexpress, sure the speed may feel slower a bit, but who cares if it can just do the job?
at 4:50 you have mentioned that it has 2 banks each 64 total 128 may I know where it wouls say the capacity of each bank and can you share the tool so that i can check my ssd too?
Thank you! I looked around and came across many useless videos but your one was very helpful and informative! I'm at work now so will try later to check for fakeness. Is there anything that you can recommend for checking authenticity of wd sn740 1tb 2230 in a steamdeck? (so Linux). Perhaps aida64 will work there. I'm fairly computer illiterate...
If it came with the steamdeck pre-installed and you bought it brandnew then it’s 100% authentic. Why would you even doubt Steam’s products in the first place 😂😂😂
well ... I have to say it about that.. you bouth that gpu and it died after 1 month of use sadly and is kinda unlucky so , I bough a GTX 1660S for 150$ from aliexpress in april this year and after 4-5 months it works perfectly fine (before changing the termal paste and termal pads after one month of use because it starts heating to much [80*C] ) so...what I mean is that they are not all fake is just random luck and you have to be carefull at what you want to buy
Always contact the seller first. Tell them you are going to use h2testw software to test speed and capacity and ask them if it's fake you will get a refund without returning item. If you get a clear response agreeing they will refund without return then its most likely ok. If they give polite but not agreeing response like don't worry friend is good. Then it's fake.
Good job. Thank you very much for this recording. I just wanted to buy the M2 Drive on AliExpress because the price seemed attractive to me. I won't do it now. I added you to my subscriber list. Thank you again. Greetings from Poland
While Aliexpress does have sellers that sell genuine SSDs, there's a lot of scammers out there. That 4TB SSD drive that looks like a Western Digital Sata SSD is really just an overpriced 120GB SSD.
All I need to know is to put some product to the search engine and see how much Aliexpress asks for them, vs real deal. The same on Amazon or ebay. Chinese penetrated our market, you throw it out of the door, they throw it back through the window.
There's many places online to buy good, reasonably priced computer parts. Myself, since I have a computer store less than 20 minutes from me, I rather prefer to shop there for my parts, in case I have a problem or issue, I can go back there for help.
And here's the hard truth about SSDs in Aliexpress... The genuine ones have roughly the same price as the ones sold in your average store. A 4TB sata ssd costs the same everywhere.
I'm a regular buyer on Aliexpress and, on balance, very happy with what I get, which is sometimes surprisingly good quality. However I got sucked in with the blue and white SSD that is being used as a reference. Yet I had purchased another (same capacity) brand that cost about 15 bucks more only a few months before and have had no problems with it. Well I won't get fooled again (till the next time)
So I made the mistake of buying a 2T SSD for 12.00 or so. When I got the drive it looked nice and actually reported to windows as a 2T SSD. However when I tried to copy 200gb of music files to it it was very slow 1-5 mb or even slower. I tried a quick reformat of the drive and this seemed to work but I had the same issue. I then tried a deep format. This whipped out the drive completely and windows no longer could see it. Even using disk manager. so I opened a dispute with the aliexpress. The seller or Ali sent me a return label with shipping paid. they said this was a one time discount of 7.99. I tried to talk to the seller but that portion of their site is under construction. So I packaged the drive up and put the label on it. It's going back to New Jersey. We will see if I ever get a refund. Unfortunately I ordered two 2TB flash sticks for 5.00/each that have yet to arrive. I'm sure they will have similar issues. I've purchased some fun stuff from Aliexpress but you have to be careful
Im old enough to have paid $300 (on sale at Fry's) for a 1gb hard drive to add to my screaming fast Pentium 90 running Windows 95. Actually, I'm even older. The one and only trick is NOT to buy ANY form of device to store your data on. The counterfeits will let you down, and the legit stock is more expensive than buying locally. But I get it; it's great for creating content. Only this has been done too many times now.
But how to get money back after bought this fake SSD I have ordered an 512 GB ssd goldenfir for 27 dollar , I convinced that it is really not fake by the review , and now I saw your video and I have question , my ordered not arrived yet , can I cancel the order and get money back
I never buy cheap fake chinese SSD, RAM, Flash Drives and Graphic Card. I'm rather buy real name brand such as Samsung, Corsair, Asus, Gigabyte, MSI, WD, Sandisk, ADATA, Timetec, Memoz, Hynix, Crucial, PNY, Teamgroup, Kingston and Toshiba.
dude your killing me, i've need a 300g-320g ssd and the only one i can find that isn't hundreds of dollars is the netac, even though i had never heard of the brand after day of searching i finally had talked myself into buying the natec ssd but now after watching your videos on ssd's i'm back to square one, i saved $70 but still don't have a 300g ssd, one company wants over $700 for an intel 300g ssd, i'm not getting the the deal is with 300g ssd's, i've been running a $60 team group 256g ssd for over a year without a problem and to get a 512 isn't much more so why are 300's so expensive and rare.............
My personal experience with Ali Express: Fake items: Grafisch cards Lenovo 2 tb USB sticks and other no name brands SSDs All my items bought from ALI EXPRESS are like weekends; they don't last long, even shorter than a weekend, if not immediately. Help desk are very polite, but that's the psychology in the game. Don't buy any electronic and PC storage items from AE
As a Bangladeshi i feel u brother 😂😂 i was face same problem i Don't know why chinese they DOING fake products 😂😂 but they Refound Money Very quickly 😂😂
thx mate, i fell twice for this Crap and its really anoying. This shops should be banned immidiately and AliExpress, LAZADA or Shopee should make sure they are paying large for it or end up in jail.

Is he going to tell us that this ssd is so slow, it's showen whole time in this video but he didn't said anything
No rice for you. I shouldn’t laugh as a fellow Asian, but damned if that’s not hilarious. 😂
Yeah. NEVER order from AliExpress or Temu.
Thanks mate cancelled the order and got a full refund before they could dispatch. Cheers!!
My personal experience with Ali Express:
Fake items:
Grafisch cards
Lenovo 2 tb USB sticks and other no name brands
SSDs
All my items bought from ALI EXPRESS are like weekends; they don't last long, even shorter than a weekend, if not immediately.
Help desk are very polite, but that's the psychology in the game.
Don't buy any electronic and PC storage items from AE
Ali Express is criminal and s/b punished severely
It's like calling Amazon criminal, Ali is a sales platform just like Amazon.
Cool and informative video, im on the way to make similar video in portuguese.

Очень крутой голос, как я понимаю, автоматического переводчика. Очень хотел бы знать какой для перевода сервис Вы используете?
There’s a delay with your voice
It seems rusian channel translated to english.
I love Aliexpress, but only non electrical stuff because I can't trust them..
thx mate, i fell twice for this Crap and its really anoying. This shops should be banned immidiately and AliExpress, LAZADA or Shopee should make sure they are paying large for it or end up in jail.
Im buying 1 rn from Lazada just to file for dispute later. 😂
not true i got my 1TB from ebay on sale for $20
Hi i did not cached the names of the software you used
Many thanks
Sadly I fell for it... Well I'll just keep files in it without going over 1tb
