Or did you go in and out on the branches? Also did you have to purchase separate controllers or anything? Or does everything come with the sets?

@@ashleybeck1630 thanks, it turned out to be defective twinkly lights. they actually came on a tree and the top shorted out, although it actually turned out to be the bottom shorting the lights out. when I got the new tree all the effects were there...60 vs 19...why it would affect the app makes no real sense, but everything worked fine after that. thanks again.
The original version of twinklie and I believe the pros also are only rgb (red, green, blue) so each led is capable of producing the color white but only by combining all 3 colors together which ends up producing a harsher almost blueish "cool temperature" white, and the leds in the rgb-w version can produce it's own soft "warm temperature" white color on top of rgb.. so they have 4 color leds instead of the only 3 color leds that the original has. So basically the rgb-w version gives you the ability to choose the temperature of white that you prefer because they're capable of producing a softer warm color white on their own (similar to an incandescent) or just like the original version they can also combine rgb together to produce a harsher cool color white instead.
My tree is the same height. I had a hard time fitting all 500 lights on my tree, but I did leave the base in the corner empty since it cant be seen. If you cover the whole tree, 500 lights is about perfect.
No all the lights will light up, but only the lights that the camera sees will display correctly. If you can move tree temporarily to map all the lights, it would be better
Yeah, bulb shape is different and bigger on the Pros, higher wattage on the Pros, IP rating is better on Pros, but the Pros are barely Android compatible. Pros are a lot more expensive too.
@@rieskame this is’nt pro. It works with a connection port. This is just the normal consumer stuff. It’s great, but NOT pro. The connection port alone cost 500$ with no light. 250$ for 400RGB+w string.. each port Can connect 6x400 light strings

Can you make it look like it's going crazy? Set it to where it can do all kinds of things. All modes. instead of just being just set to one mission.lol i guess you would call it.
The gen 2 can store a play list of different effects and automatically change between that play list at set intervals. With twinkly music device you can actually get the lights to dance to music
Amazon sells a 600 string regular Twinkly light that might be a good option on a semi budget. I don't think I could fit an extra 250 on the tree. It looks ridiculous already with lights off!
In the app select devices in lower right corner then click create group then there are 3 options join sync and scene. Join will make strands act as one device, sync will make same effect on multiple trees and scene will allow for multiple trees or areas where the lights are to flow together
I added the twinkly skill to my alexa app and it found my tree. I can change the colors on the app and by voice which is cool, but cannot get the tree to turn on or off. I might make a video if it works better.
Check the settings of the light strand. It is possible that only half of your strand is connected to the controller. Make sure that the number of lights matches what you have and that the port is 1 or 2 (depending on what you have)
The top 4 foot is wrapped all around, but the bottom 3 foot or so is only wrapped 3/4 of the way around since it cant be seen or mapped easily. Thats why it lights up the wall so much near the top.

Well at around $120 for those lights, the damned company needed to add a second plug with the those lights especially for a strand of lights which have a total build cost of what maybe $8 if that.
What is difference between Twinkly - 2019 New Generation II RGB+W and Pro edition?
BTW nice video.
The bulbs on the pros are bigger so the wattage is probably higher as well. Better waterproofness too. Thanks for the compliment!
Also gen two controllers are what you see in the video the pro version controller is a network controller that connects to a PC.
I have 7 1/2 ft tall tree. How m ay strands so I need? I almost bought a set just like this from balsam hill for $199
My tree is the same height. I had a hard time fitting all 500 lights on my tree, but I did leave the base in the corner empty since it cant be seen. If you cover the whole tree, 500 lights is about perfect.
Buy the 600 lights set from Best Buy, they’re 169 right now on sale.
Can android use this app? i want buy this light for 2022 christmas big hug from filipino
There is a monitor ? The light turns on automatically only the night between 6pm to 6am.
There is a setting in the app to set the lights on a timer. You must have that setup. You can turn them on manually too.
So if i were to do 2D and string around entire tree will only the front lights change??
No all the lights will light up, but only the lights that the camera sees will display correctly. If you can move tree temporarily to map all the lights, it would be better
@@rieskame so if I took pics (mapped) of all sides of tree they would all change with the 2D ??
Is there any difference between the twinkly lights and the twinkly pro lights?
Yeah, bulb shape is different and bigger on the Pros, higher wattage on the Pros, IP rating is better on Pros, but the Pros are barely Android compatible. Pros are a lot more expensive too.
@@rieskame this is’nt pro. It works with a connection port. This is just the normal consumer stuff. It’s great, but NOT pro. The connection port alone cost 500$ with no light. 250$ for 400RGB+w string.. each port Can connect 6x400 light strings
Sorry maybe I missed it but what size tree do you have I’m thinking of getting some for my 9ft tree. Enjoy your Thanksgiving!!
7.5 ft. You too!
Since you use 2 sets of lights, does it mean you have to use a 2 port controller? Or can you use 1 port controller with a Y splitter?
I use two 1 port controllers, but you could use a two port controller since it can handle 500 itself
I got two sets last year but cannot get them to pair with app this year, any ideas?
If the lights still show up in your account, delete them by swiping on them in the light bulb tab and start over. I had to do that to get the app working on my ipad.
Hi I’m looking to buy some of these for my 10ft Christmas tree I’m putting outside. Just wondering once I’ve programmed the lights can I have them going through all the different settings or is it just one setting? Also how many ft is your Christmas tree? Great video 🙂
My tree is officially 7.5 ft. Twinkly updated the app recently so that you can create a playlist of up to about 10 different effects. Good idea for a quick video.
@@rieskame it’s looking like I’ll be getting them for next year now as I’ve spent a lot on outside decorations this year but would be great to see a video of that 🙂
Glow is my favorite
I need to create this pattern: lights that don't move (or simply twinkle)all with different colours. I like twinkle or vintage pattern but I want to be sure I can change the colours for these options. Could you help me? Thank you! Kisses from Italy
Vintage is only one color, but with twinkle you can select 6 different transition color. Thanks for watching!
@@rieskame so I can choose 6 different together in a single mode (twinkle)?
great demo :)
Where do I go to purchase these?
I bought mine here. www.christmasdesigners.com/christmas-lights/animated-rgb-christmas-lights/twinkly-pro-rgb-christmas-lights.html
How many lights do you need to have decent saturation???
500 on my 6ft tree looks good. Can get away with less but the effect does diminish.
How about sensing the music you play in door ?
Thats a good idea for a quick demo! Thanks!
The twinkly app must be open and in test mode of a music option to use without twinkly music controller. But with twinkly music USB device you can set it in the settings in the app
Can you map your lights all around the tree plus do you have only 250 lights on there
Yes but 3d takes much longer than 2d for not much reward. There's 500 on my tree.
@@rieskame do the lights stand out if you have baubles on the tree
How can you add to a group? I’ve already made one but want to add more but doesn’t give me that option
The Twinkly app could definitely be improved. You have to delete the group by swiping on the group name and start over
You would have to unjoin the strands and rejoin them
How exactly do I connect the light strings to each other?
The lights don't connect to each other like a normal string of lights. You have to layout the lights and then group them together via the app.
@@rieskame OK! I bought another extension cord and they are all working. Problem is, I’m not able to select the playlist button on the top right. It won’t select.
SO your Tree we set up with 3 strings? meaning 750 lights? - asking because I was thinking of just getting the 400 bulb set..
OOPS - I see you had 500 lights on the tree, my bad
Amazon sells a 600 string regular Twinkly light that might be a good option on a semi budget. I don't think I could fit an extra 250 on the tree. It looks ridiculous already with lights off!
About 100 lights per foot is ideal. So if you have a 6-7ft tree then the 600 is fine
can I have 5 different xmas tree all on at the same time?
Yes, you can make a group of separate lights and sync them up. Thanks for watching!
In the app select devices in lower right corner then click create group then there are 3 options join sync and scene. Join will make strands act as one device, sync will make same effect on multiple trees and scene will allow for multiple trees or areas where the lights are to flow together
Is there a default password or connect or are they all different?
You just have to create an account with them like any other website, and connect to wifi.
Do u leave this up year round?
They are too expensive for me to keep in a box 10 months of the year so I string them up on my backyard patio for mood lighting in the summer.
How do you set up voice control please
I added the twinkly skill to my alexa app and it found my tree. I can change the colors on the app and by voice which is cool, but cannot get the tree to turn on or off. I might make a video if it works better.
What's the difference between the pro and the original ?
Pro has brighter and larger bulbs. Thanks for watching!
@@rieskame
Hmm... Thks.
So sad that some amazon reviews has comparability problem with Android.
Android is unusable with Twinkly Pro for some reason
mapping the lights has been a nightmare , the app simply wont map the top portion of the tree , no idea what to do
do you have any ornament in the way if not then try the 3d option
Check the settings of the light strand. It is possible that only half of your strand is connected to the controller. Make sure that the number of lights matches what you have and that the port is 1 or 2 (depending on what you have)
are the lights only on the front of the tree?
The top 4 foot is wrapped all around, but the bottom 3 foot or so is only wrapped 3/4 of the way around since it cant be seen or mapped easily. Thats why it lights up the wall so much near the top.
Where did you get these online from at a discounted price after xmas?
I bought them from here, but check prices everywhere. www.christmasdesigners.com/
They’re $169 for 600 lights at Best Buy right now. Normal price is 200 bucks every day
camaroboi13 For the pro model?
@@TronApostle gen II string lights. I don’t have the box laying around to see if they’re the pro model or not, but they’re the rgb models. I didn’t want the old school white color.
No bb only has the regular version and the 600 was sold out in my area. Pros are sold out on the site I purchased from, and I read online that lights and decorations were sold out everywhere in general.
Hi ! What is the height of the tree ??
7.5 foot! Thanks for watching
Can I do this with android? ( note 10 plus).
Turns out, Iphone only
Yes you can do it with android too
Some android phones do have issues though as each is different
Looks great. Doing a great job (Duane Jones)
Thanks!
I just got the lights but, now I'm trying to figure out if I should put the light on first then the ornaments or vise versa.. what do you think is better to put first?
Always put lights on first then the decorations. Happy holidays 😊
You will want to map the lights before you block some from the camera by adding ornaments
@@maryh3470 thank you dear and happy holidays to you too...
Make sense .. thank you both!
Hello 😀 its 2d? Not 3d?
2D seems easier for trees for me. On IPhone mapping in 3D, it put the beating heart on the back of the tree, which wasn't ideal. Plus its really hard to take pictures in the corner.
I have a 5 foot tree anyone knows how much lights ill need
Lowes sells a prelit 5ft twinkly tree with 250 lights. That would be the minimum and any more just adds to the "resolution"
Cool
This has to be interesting outside your window
The fire effect with the blinds closed probably gets noticed by the neighbors!
2x 250 leds! i would not buy just 250 for the looks of it! it would be way to little .. dont you think?
Yeah, unless you keep the tree in the corner and just cover the visible side. Or you have a tiny tree.
@@rieskame ofcourse then you dont wrap IT around the tree but Just put in on one side. So if you have 400 and you wrap IT around you Lose like maybe 150 when you put IT in the corner. .. Shame in that case.
400 is probably ok. Twinkly has a calculator to say how many lights are ok for a given tree size. The more lights the better the animations get
@@rieskame I now have 600 and I have to say for good animations that's the least you need. If it's still OK but on the animations side a little less then 400 is your minimum. 250 is just OK for nice twinkly lights I would not buy 250 again 400or 600
This is not the twinkly pro this is the twinkly home gen 2... twinkly pro has a network controller that hooks to a pc and looks different
Sorry, but you are wrong. This is what I have. Twinkly Pro - RGB Capsule - 250 Lights - 4" Spacing - Green Wire
SKU: RGB-TPRO-CPSL-2504-GR
GO HAWKS!!
Do you need Wi-Fi for this?!
Yes it connects to your home wifi. Pressing the controller button changes the effect, so there might be limited functions if you dont have wifi.
good god these are so fucking cool
There really doesn’t seem to be much of a difference between the twinkly home sets and their professional set for this kind of use
I agree. The Pro is probably overkill inside. The brighter bulbs work better outside.
The pro set is more expensive and designed for outdoor or retail stores display
I bought some. They do not look like this! Omg... and there so fragile
2021
How much did you pay?
They were on sale for 300 for the 2 sets a few years ago
Nice vid but the lights are too obnoxious for me.
It is not pro :-(
Well at around $120 for those lights, the damned company needed to add a second plug with the those lights especially for a strand of lights which have a total build cost of what maybe $8 if that. Come on twinkly lights company, you do realize we have a pandemic going on and tons and tons of people lost their job due to covid, the nerve of you to charge as much as you do. These lights are pretty cool and all but you can keep it. Pandemic or no pandemic, there is just no way any Christmas light compay set prices that much and lights that will get used 4 maybe 6 weeks out of a year, then when the following year you get your xmas decorations out and plug those twinkly lights in and those $120 strand of lights do not work.
If you put them in the outside of your house, you can run pink and red during Valentine’s Day, red white and blue for Independence Day, etc etc. use them all year long. Rep your favorite sports team colors.
Too expensive and it’s not amazing 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴
