Well that was eventful! 😮 sorry to hear you had a bad experience at these markets, it must be frustrating when a lot of it is out of your control 🥺❤

definitely frustrating!! especially when it takes so much prep to be ready, and then some light rain makes it all pointless! but either way i had some great experiences!!

Darn, I’m sorry it turned out this way! Seriously a bummer. But super impressive you pulled it together to do all of that. 😵‍💫 And this video reminded me I REALLY wanted two prints of yours, I’m literally so excited to get them!

I loved this long format video. Seeing your process and how you handle things behind the scenes is really cool. I really enjoy the market vlogs !!

Not me pausing the video to go to Patreon and see about updating my subscription because that sticker and postcard set are EVERYTHING to me omg

You've got the strength to stay there through it all in the heat. Its so uncomfortable to be sitting and plastered with sweat. But at the very least you broke even. Its giving you more experience for future markets. Hopefully your future markets will be more eventful and more successful.

A bummer that it wasn't as busy as you were hoping, but all the originals you made look so good! I'm glad you were still able to have some positive takeaways from the experience

That sounds stressful!!!! So far I only was at cons and never outside, so I imagine it being even more exhausting with everythign you have to bring in addition, and then the weather also not playing along!!! BUT YOU DID IT!!!
Also with the neighbour who sold the butterflies, the ones I met usually have high prices (still affordable and suitable for the object and size) so once they have sold even a small thing, they already made good money. And it's something I don't see often at events, so it's unique and an eye catcher for people, without much competition. Why I think it's hard to compare your art to their art and pull yourself down! :3 Think overall the people were missing and things just went awfully wrong for the event . o .>

Omg. I started doing shows in Central Florida last year and this is sooooo relatable. Shows are a true roller coaster of emotions. I definitely learned a lot from each show, for better or worse. Glad you made some money!!!

Unbelievable work ethic! We really like the use of cradled hardboard panels (Claybord or Gessobord?), keeping the sides clean so the finished art can be presented without a frame. Little touches like that are important, because if it doesn't need a frame, it's just one fewer expense and one less barrier to a collector taking it home!

      gessoboard!!! my FAV!!!

I would’ve cleared out your table if I could’ve ❤ it sounds so frustrating but what an experience and sights to see, people as well. Head up!

It sure would be better next time! I'm proud of you just by even doing all of it....and with that weather...thanks for sharing your experience!

I think you gradually make more. I’m definitely a beginner and I’ve only done a few events but I’ve done comic con twice and the difference between my first year and my second was A LOT and it had to do with just more people remembering me from other events and buying from me again. Plus it depends on the event, I wouldn’t be too bummed if you made less than you expected at a fair that’s not as established- been though it does feel soul crushing lol

I wish I couldve gone to that market, your table looked sooo good!!!! they can be really weird tho, I've done some where I've made
0 sales, and others where I made 100+ sales... just have to find the right market/audience.

    • @Lilstarnerd

I did markets every Saturday last year and probably only made $150-300 each market. They were a lot of fun and I really enjoyed networking but I definitely did not make any profit after the expenses I put in and in the summer some markets were miserable because of the heat. I took this year off to focus on me and more art I wanted to make. I hope markets go well for you in the future!

    • @Lilstarnerd

i hope if you go back to markets they're better for you too!!!

My sister and best friends have small businesses and they all do pop ups. When these things happen where things go wrong and don’t turn out well for vendors LET THEM KNOW CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK! You don’t have to be rude at all, letting them know what can be better is so helpful not only for other vendors and yourself, but for the event planners. If it does terrible you aren’t going to go again and neither is anyone else. I know you may know this already but this is also for others in the comments to see 🤍 sending you love. (Also letting them know you will only vend if you break even so you have a standard of what needs to be made or else you won’t be doing this event again).

    • @Lilstarnerd
      @Lilstarnerd  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes!! Thankfully our coordinators were super wonderful and actually came by on the reg to check in with us, ask how well our sales were, and asked for feedback!!
