I used to go to this mall as a child w my family once a month or so. It was always a highlight for me & great memories as a child. This is exactly how I remember the mall looking. It’s changed so much nowadays. This was so cool. Thank you for taking me down memory lane.
Hi, have you lived in Clearwater or Dunedin or still live in one of those citys? I have a fb group for posting old pictures of Dunedin and Clearwater! I know finding old pictures of Dunedin and Clearwater on the internet is hard. 🙂
Thanks for taking me back in time for a small moment. Truly appreciate the video. I could almost smell it again. Popcorn, new clothes, and a food court all mixed together. Images of a different time when we had to experience the world to get what we wanted. The drive to do things was so much greater then. Really hoping malls make a comeback as people are becoming more aware of digital disconnection.
I frekin miss Kay Bee toys! It was my favorite toy store as a kid. They always had the toys other places didn't have. When they closed we still had Toys R Us. Now even Toys R Us is gone. So went my childhood.
Thanks for checking out my slide show. Yes sad to see these stores going away. There is a nationwode trend that large malls are closing down and being replaced w open air malls. Clearwater mall is a good example at gulf to bay and us 19. Theres also the open air mall at state rd 54 and state rd 56 in pasco co fl
I worked at the mall too. My very first job was at The Dairy Queen. I think I was 15 so like 1997. My best friend and I got jobs there together. I loved how when it was slow we would eat icecream. When we were trained, the girl training us also showed us the little hole under the counter where we could sit and eat our icecream when there weren't any customers haha. I worked in the Sears photography studio too. That was so much fun! Working with all the cute little kids and babies.
I remember when just Suncoast and FYE could pull people in. Just to buy your movie for the week, or whatever. I always went there. A victim of the digital era, I guess. Or kids just not hanging out as much.
A good Chunk of stores seen are still there, but still a lot of notable chains that aren't at Countryside Mall Nowadays. Also, this is the first time I've seen the Burdines that was at Countryside. Fun Fact: There is a remnant of the Burdines at the front entrance of what is now Macy's, as it still has "The Florida Store" Slogan on the floor right below the Mall Entrance. Also, that JCPenney Entrance looks incredibly different compared to the entrance that's there now.
also, if you goto the :22 and after area, you can see the stairs in the west end of the mall in front of sears. they tore those out years ago in favor of escalators to the north of where the stairs were.
Oh man, I'd almost forgotten what the interior used to look like. I moved to the area back in '03 and KB Toys was my favorite store as a kid. Got a job working at Cobb when they opened in 2011, didn't realized until a few years later that it was in the exact same spot! Never forgot about that bridge over the ice rink though, I was kind of sad whey filled that in 🤣
I used to work at clearwater mall radio shack in the early to mid 90s and the Walden books was across and over 1 spot to the store. They would have book signings with famous people from time to time.
Sorry,2001 was the first year. That was the year I got my first digital camera and went around taking lots of pics. If you search for Clearwater mall 2001 there should be a slideshow of that mall too
time flies. i have a slideshow of the pinellas park mall in 2004, and when i look at it, it looks so much like the 80s. i didnt see that in 2004 when i took the photos
It’s Hammett's Learning World! It was a teacher supply store. When it closed, Limited Too took over temporarily. I vividly remember looking up at the sky mural while trying on skorts in their dressing rooms lol the good old days. Thanks for posting this 😊
Also...now that you mention it, I can't believe I didn't make the connection that Limited Too took over (I was trying on my skorts under the mural too LOL). Miss these days. @@madisonelise6710
Yep. Lots of Disney stores closed. I think there's a Tampa disney store that will close by March 23. May be international mall or west shore. I dont remember
Why did Disney shut down there stores. Cause of pandemic? Doesn't really seem to be an excuse. People are out shopping. Feel bad and sad cause now there's literally no kid stores for the new gen.
@@historychannel2317Are you talking about Jabbawokki!? Please tell me you remember that place. I can’t find any pictures of it anywhere 😭. My parents used to drop me off there while they shopped. I’d play for what felt like all day and had so much fun. I’m 36 now and still remember that place like it was yesterday.

This brings back so many memories for me! I was a teenager, working at Countryside Mall Sears at the time. Thank you.
Please share any memories you may have from the time working there, I would enjoy reading them. Thanks for checking out the vid
It was in 2001 right after the World Trade Center bombing and sh*t was crazy. What a time to be alive.
Much much bigger variety of stores in those days. So many of those chains are now out of buisness and have been replaced with nonsense or nothing.
I love this mall so much plenty of things to do, but i really miss the music & Disney store lots of great memories about Clearwater ❤
thank you for checking out my slideshow.

Still live by the mall. It’s getting pretty empty now days. Sad to watch. It has a few good years left but not many

Crazy that 9/11 happened three weeks later
I have a 2001 international mall tampa slideshow where they have newspaper frontpages on the walls and one is for 9/11
The only store I miss that is not featured in this video is Waldenbooks.
I used to work at clearwater mall radio shack in the early to mid 90s and the Walden books was across and over 1 spot to the store. They would have book signings with famous people from time to time.
I miss all of this :(
Thanks for checking out my vid

Was there a Hot Topic at this point? Next to Wet Seal?
@@endlessnameless6494yes I remember Inti! I got cartilage piercings there.
I see Mr D's... When did Aladdin's Castle close?
I don't know about Aladdin's, but maybe someone else knows. Thanks for checking out my vid, add mall memories of you have any, I'd like to read them.
it was so different then...

I must know the name of the store to the left of payless at 0:36 (store with the sky mural)
i looked, i dont recognize the name. perhaps it was a non chain, local store

Ice rink is still there and they replaced the Disney store

Yeah, I remember the Disney store😢
Does anyone remember the arcade that use to be here? Believe it was downstairs by an entrance?
Upstairs at the entrance by sears. It’s ironically now a bounce house kids play area that has a few arcade games in it
Aladdin's Castle! I still remember the 6 player Konami X-Men cabinet they had!
the bounce house place has moved from the upstairs location, now downstairs in the west end where the as seen on tv place used to be.
