Novation FLKey 37 Midi Controller - First Impressions & Unboxing

- I finally got my hands on a brand new Novation FLKey 37 and made a quick first impressions review on FLKey 37. This keyboard has been specifically designed for FL Studio users and it does have a lot of features that will be useful for music producers! The FLKey is a small, light, and cheap keyboard by Novation. The Novation FLKey is for FL Studio users - built around FL Studio and includes full control of the channel rack. Yes, this keyboard can control the FL Studio Channel Rack! The Novation FLKey has a lot of features like: drum pads, note repeat, knobs, and more. However, the Novation FLKey is actually missing features that some other keyboards have in this price range.

@@seylanmadhusanka2198 1. If your cracked FL Studio is version 20.9 or above then yes you can still use it.
2. I imagine they come with the keyboard, there will be instructions on where to download them.

@@andykelly7321 i have producer edition of 20.9 but i download from cracked site but when i plug in my FL key did not see the script of flkey37 also i can't do update in this download. Could you please help me how i can found the script. Or could u send me the script file 🙏🙏

thanks for mentioning how the keys and knobs feel, you wouldn't believe how many reviews I've watched on this and none of them said anything about the physical keyboard, or the manual

Mine worked right out of the box. Only thing I haven't figured out is how to change the sounds of the vst without having to use the mouse. So far I've noticed that function only works with Imagine Line vsts. Other than that, this is a good replacement for my keyboard. My other keyboard still plays native audio while playing midi which was annoying. I don't like that you can't turn this keyboard off either.

I still think that mouse and hitting key short cuts on kb is faster than pressing any buttons fl key 37 itself. For such price one can get way more keys on the midi keyboard. And sadly it's not functional enough to use only FL key 37 without using at least mouse but I think since FL studio now allowed midi scripts, there will be more and more coming out scripts for midi controllers
That's true! But if you are working on writing chords or melody - using those keys can be faster too :) I really don't need more keys that this tbh. You are right about scripts, I haven't even noticed it until you mentioned it. We'll see where it goes soon!
@@jayurbanmusic2 i still like them because 37 keys is good universal number. Way better than 25 on Mini one. I just wish to know how big are pads compared to akai mini mpk which I have. Pads are so good on this little machine
fl studio needs to make a dedicated controller similar to the push for abelton. dont understand why they havent done that yet..the akai fire was too basic by this keyboard is a good step towards that

Why didn't you read the manual, online and explains it. The firmware update and setup was really easy imo
Are we gonna talk about the fact the Akai Fire somehow forgot to add a note repeat function and the new Novation FL Keys on the packaging went out they're way to have the Note Repeat button pressed and lit up on the box lol. Shots shots shots.
Does this plug into a USB or does it need to be plugged into a audio interface

You possibly gathered by now but you have to set in BIOS for USB ports to cut power on off

My FLkey 37 arrived a few days ago, and for some reason I cant control some of the FL plugin like Morphine, Sakura, Sawer, GMS, etc.
Can please someone help me understand the reason am having this issue and how can I fix it?
Any chance to be an hardware failure, or is something wrong with my FL?
I been watching some tutorial and they don't look having any of this issues.
I have one and I love it but the only issue I have is that I can't access all the modes and functions

Hello, have you watched the full video? I have had this happen too during the video! You need to update midi scripts in FL Studio in MIDI settings!

I might have missed something but I’m not sure what features you feel this is missing that other controllers in this price range have? It feels from your video that you were quite impressed with what this controller does used with FL Studio

I have a question... if u change the volume of a mixer channel (with mixer mode) using the pots, and later use this pots for another feature...
When u back to control one mixer fader with pots, they gonna to "reset" the last position? I mean, the first value was lost?
In MIDI settings there is a Pickup mode checkbox which mostly eliminates your problem. Checking this makes the controller link up only if the MIDI value passes the DAW value. This works with most controllers, BTW.

It bothers me that Imageline didn't go for Akai for the dedicated keyboard smh. This is nothing but a launchkey 3 😫🤦🏾♂️ Novation didn't even take the time to come up with something more original smh 🤢 now I like Novation even less🚮. I was never a fan anyway. So I bought the Akai pro Fruity Fire 🔥 🎛🎚🎹 🎧🤘🏽
True, but who are they competing with exactly? Besides the launchkey is sorta a favorite already. On a more deeper thought, I wonder just how fun it would be having the FLKey with the Akai Fire.

To be honest, I do not see the point of this keyboard! If it was more functional and the price was reasonable, then maybe it would be acceptable ... but so?!
FL-Studio is a "paint by numbers" DAW, even if it is slowly molting. Many, especially bedroom producers, can't play an instrument anyway, let alone music theory. So they take advantage of the excellent input options for "non-musicians" that FL Studio provides. And for that, a trackball and computer keyboard is much better.
Note; I'm not saying that bedroom producers make worse music, or that FL-Studio is a bad DAW, just that there are certain differences in the "production process" and this overpriced keyboard is definitely the wrong way to go.
You're acting like nobody can learn to play the piano or use kits like these. I would argue the price is very reasonable because you're not only getting a very good midi keyboard for FL Studio, but you're also getting free plugins and a 6-month trial. Lots of bang for your buck.
@@Pluto-ek3mh Thx for your answer/opinion! As a classically trained multi-instrumentalist, I know very well that you can learn instruments. But then you don't use FL Studio, but Cubase, Logic Pro or Studio One.
And you can get plugins and other software for any MIDI keyboard. In addition, the instruments from Native Instruments, Studiologic and Arturia offer much more for the money, because the FL keys are velocity-sensitive, but not semi-weighted and without aftertouch. Effect plugins cannot be controlled either.
All in all, rather disappointing, unless you're an FL fan and really want an FL keyboard for your DAW.
