- Today the girls and I decided to pick up a few croakers and head south to the mosquito lagoon area and try our luck at some spotted sea trout fishing.. From the time we launched the boat , caught our six fish limit and put the boat back on the trailer was only 30min. now that's fishing!!!

Nice catch, can't beat a nice day fishing w/ the family. In Louisiana speckle trout limit is 25 per person, 12" long. Enjoyed the video, keep them comin.

My dad and grandfather started me trout fishing in Oak Hill when I was a very young angler. I cant thank them enough for showing me how to enjoy that once pristine body of water. I wish there would have been more limits then. If we didnt catch 50 it wasnt a very good day

Mike, I am 69 years young and grew up in South Louisiana. My father loved to fish for speckled trout that they just call specks down there. Back in those days, there were no real limits. One day we caught almost a hundred specks in the Gulf, but my father never threw away a fish. When we got back home he called some friends and asked if they wanted to come by an pick up some freshly-caught specks. Several of the asked “are they cleaned”. He went crazy and said that anyone that asked him that question would never be offered free fish again and we started taking home only what our family could eat or freeze within a reasonable quantity.
Mr. Greg after finishing up pushing the nets for shrimp in Barataria pass my brother would throw a line on a post and fish the incoming tide for specks back in them day he was able to sell them his wife would fish till the fish quit, Haha just had to gut but still 6or7 hundred fish a week you had enough. Early 80s. Now it's 25 per person

I love watching your videos! Not because of the fish you catch or the area, it's the family oriented outings that keep me coming back. That's the fastest limiting out I have ever seen! How are those speckled trout for table fare? Never had one, I'm up in Wisconsin.

Great video with this rapid max catch of trout. Nothing beats a fast trip this, there and back even before the mosquitos know that you where there. Mike D how are those reels working out that I sent you? Are they too lite or too heavy?
mike have you ever used 6/9 inch ladyfish for bait? trout will go crazy on them north of you fished like you with just a hook in the tail. I have caught 2 at a time on the same hook

Really no relation to fresh water trout. Speckled sea trout meat is nearly snow white with a fine, firm, flakey texture. Much less fat than it's fresh water "cousins". Delicious!!
