Kimbo, tank Abbott, Don the predator frye. Are three men that I would expect to be get in a fight in a bar and emerged victorious even though it's several on one. Tank Abbott once said when I'm done with the fight win lose or draw I go home and drink a beer my opponent goes to the hospital. When kimbo was young he dropped bombs, the first few fights in tank average career he didn't even break a sweat man he connect with one punch and it was enough to rock them or drop them. Those elbows and hammer fists from Thompson when he had Kimbo on the ground weren't doing anything. He was so gassed he had no power. That's why Kimbo was laying there giving a thumbs up. He was tired and stuck. But not getting hurt
(Respectfully to Kimbo) It still should of been stopped. The thumbs up was only for a few seconds Kimbo was in the pinned up position for over a minute any other fight would of been stopped
It would of been nice to see the evolution of kimbo in the ring but hey this is his best performance IMO. Although those elbows didnt look devastating the other guy is big himself. Showed heart and the will to win. Like the great Archie Moore said you never know when a fighter is going to burst into bloom.

@thesquad2253 no..for the fight..cauliflower ear refills after awhile when drained but in his case its a huge target and ultimately lost the fight for him
R.I.P Kimbo Slice 🙏 he didn’t have much in the way of mixed martial arts skill but he was a solid fighter nonetheless (Petruzelli fight aside but that’s neither here nor there)
I think he was decent at mma and was thrown to pretty experienced fighters.

Ehh, not that bad of an injury to fight with, obviously if it’s even touched it hurts like hell but it’s not something that poses a whole lot of danger to someone’s career
Fighters fight with cauliflower ears all the time. They've never not allowed someone to fight because of a cauliflower ear. It's a normal injury especially in training.

You got to remember he knew to this that other guy experienced fighter. I think Kimbo did a good job he got to get his wrestling together.

Heh. This fight showed us a 34 year old Kimbo's potential as a mixed martial artist. But still he would not tap that full potential until he joined the ultimate fighter in 2009.

Those punches might not be doing a whole lot but those elbows certainly are. It's not fair to stand him up when he's dropping elbows almost constantly that's called staying busy. Some people's fighting style is ground-and-pound that's what he's doing
The ref knows that. UFC wanted Kimbo to win, he was a money maker for them.

This entire fight was damn near fixed watch at the very beginning Thompson is deliberately missing when he's throwing punches from the top in round 1. Hell Seth Petruzelli knocked out kimbo in his fight with kimbo and they offered him an extra like 25k or something like that not to wrestle with kimbo, to keep the fight standing, because kimbo has no ground game what so ever

Commentator had no room to call that a “terrible stoppage”, the guy was shook and was flailing his arms on auto pilot. Not to mention it’s not their job to throw criticize the refs live like that. Kimbo had him rocked and he was toast in a few more seconds anyways. The refs job is to protect the fighters from themselves, he did just that.
