I think there are things that need more attention and criticism than an artist doing a sexy performance, such as cases of sexual abuse, verbal abuse, and idol suicides that occur in kpop.
Calling that trashy is precisely why we need more social awareness. Who came up with those norms? Who gives one the right and authority to judge what is "okay" to wear and what is not. I think it's about time to leave behind those Victorian ideals.
Some women feel empowered dressing up "modestly", while some find it empowering when they embrace their sexuality and show off that particular aspect. All I see on that stage is a beautiful and powerful artist, let's atleast respect the artist for their craft.
They’re only scared because they’re actors and can’t ruin their reputation too much which is why the drama awards are such a formal show.
It's pop music, and it's not a west or Korean thing. If it was, then there should have been a classical orchestra instead of kpop artist.
Its not the general assembly or high level function, it is an awards show. Ban kpop if it offends Koreans. It offends the rest of the world with the same old stale routines and assembly line groups.
Hyolyn, Hwasa, Hyuna, and Jessi should come together and make a group. Everyone will be prepared to have their jaws dropped. Them four together will be a bomb yo

Everyone was kind of smiling and then Dally started and then went from ☺️ to 😳 really quick. Hahahahah. Anyway Hyolyn slayed as the queen she knows she is and I lost my wig.
If there was such a big problem with her outfit, KBS would have told her to wear something different. If her performance of Dally was a problem, KBS would have told her to perform a different song seeing as she has a lot of solos to choose from. KBS is known for banning things they find inappropriate and this was obviously not one of them. I do think she could have chosen a better outfit for this specific show, but hey, they let her wear it so im not mad because i got to see Hyolyn slay and show all the girlies how its really done.

Grown woman - exactly - it means she is in charge of her body, her life, her actions and really doesn't care what the nasty public opinions have to say about her any of it. If you spend your life worrying about what people are going to say, or in your case, judging others by something as silly as their outfit choice, you obviously need some sort of change in your life. Also, KBS allowed her to do this, its not like she just stepped on the stage and decided she was going to go against regulations and rules. Just cause you wouldn't get on a stage in a 'revealing' (it really isn't very revealing, even) outfit (Which, sure, I wouldn't either because i'm not a performer) (and even if i was) doesn't necessarily mean its right to judge someone else on that choice

Coming back here after 2 years.. and no matter how many times I watched it, she nailed it. If anyone is to say that she did it inappropriately.. well the organizers gave a green light to this, so it isn't her fault at all. She came, performed, and nailed it.

My opinion; She did amazing with her performance. The downside is that it's not a music award. The producers should know that if you invited Hyolyn, you will expect her to performed her songs and not the songs she had with Sistar or songs from the dramas. But all I know of what I think, the producers make this intentionally because they want to rank up this show. After the Hwasa incident, they realise that this could enhance the show even more. Anyway, both Hwasa and Hyolyn did amazing performances last year and thank you to people who invited them to perform.
I feel like (and I know your comment is from 3 years ago lol but with her coming to queendom for the 2nd season has me rollin thru hyolyn vids lol) but i feel like she was able to perform and wear this due to the audience being mostly adults (from my understanding, from how it appears to look on this video) versus at music award shows, you got A WHOLE LOT of Korean teens who are considered to be underage, if they're not 20 yrs old yet,
So I feel like she took advantage of that and did what she wanted to do because of it. Maybe she wanted to do this at a music awards show before, yet when she found out that they most likely wouldn't allow her to, due to that whole underage thing I mentioned, she decided to do it at this show instead.

Everyone mentioning her outfit, go and say the same things about Beyonce, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Madonna, any of the greatest women in the pop industry really. That kind of outfit is pretty, draws attention to her legs and yes her ass, which is the focus of a lot of her dancing anyway, it allows her full movement of her pelvis and from dancing in the past I can reveal it's also super comfortable. KBS hired her knowing she would perform these songs, there were rehearsals, if KBS had a problem with any of this they would have made her change. Not only has it been uploaded on several channels now, they support her as a talented and interesting entertainer. And idc what ppl have to say, she's classy as hell and nothing livens up a dry award show than a performance that makes your pulse spike so chill out

You bring up a lot of good and valid points, but I kinda can’t agree with you’re references to American pop icons... because in the beginning they received so much flack too. I was a huge Lady Gaga fan and I remember so many people giving her shit for her outfits back in 2008 and 2009. It’s only because she made it a norm and showed that she didn’t give a fuck that people started accepting it. I’m sure it goes the same for many other pop icons, but I can’t really verify that since I wasn’t that big of a fan.
I hope it’ll be the same with Hyolyn and many artists that want to have a sexier stage. There will be criticism at first, but it’ll go away once they realize it’s harmless. I know Asian countries tend to be a bit more conservative, but hopefully it’ll turn around. Slowly but surely.
