In 55 years, Madame Stella Marquez de Araneta has seen it all in her Miss Universe Philippines franchise with Binibining Pilipinas.
From winning the Philippines' first two MU titles with Gloria Diaz in 1969 and Margarita Moran in 1973 to heartbreak with Miriam Quiambao in 1999 to criticism and hate heat in terms of selecting the candidates, training and gown and national costume designs that saw the Philippines went the entire 2000s with unplaced clappers in MU to the country having the longest ongoing MU placing streak with two titles from Pia Wurtzbach in 2015 and Catriona Gray in 2018.

We still have to say thanks to Madam Stella Araneta for her sacrifice and dedications to keep BPCI for more than 50 years! She made history and we owe her our gratitude. BPCI produced 4 Miss Universe and we are the fourth country with most numbers of Miss Universe winners! That’s history!

Yes ganyan ang format ng Miss USA kasi under sila ng Miss Universe Organization that's why their format is similar with each other.
I think Shamcey and MU PH team should do this format: Top 20, opening statement for Top 20, Top 10, swimsuit and evening gown for Top 10, top five, Q and A for top five, top three, Q and A for top three, final word for top three, crown the winner.
Comparing both Miss Universe 2020 and Binibining Pilipinas 2020, Binibining Pilipinas stands out, no doubt.

Definitely agree Binibining Pilipinas is still the country's prestigious national pageant. They can live without the MUP crown since they give the country's 4 Miss Universe crowns. New organization must produce new Miss Universe winners as a challenge.

Guys, you can talk shit about BPP and BPCI pero they undeniably made a mark in the Philippine Pageantry scene and made a huge cultural impact amongst us. Madam Stella for the longest time was the matron of beauty queens and title holders, and we can't talk about our Philippine pageant history without mentioning their hardwork and dedication. I support Shamcey all the way, but for pageant fans like me, this is so heartbreaking to realize that this might be an end of an era, but moving forward, we wish the legacy lives on. Once a binibini, always a binibini. 😭😭😭

Congrats Shamcey. Miss Stella Araneta is too old, and they are just holding back the progress of Miss Universe Philippines. I hope next year the Miss Universe Philippines will be at the Philippine Arena which is way bigger than the Araneta Coliseum. I hope they follow the format of Miss Universe Org so that the contestants are more familiar when the finals come.
Teh, that's way too big for a beauty pagent. Imagine seing the candidates from the farthest row. You can't even see their faces. Dapat fit to scale naman na arena. Bigger is not always better.

I love that the new Miss Universe Philippines is no longer under BBP Charity. Yung mga winners natin mostly ginagawa lang nila asa Pizza Hut, nasa opening ng kung ano Anong restaurants puro sponsorships. Looking forward ako for more charities, advocacies to be featured once they win. Also, sana mag level up ang production ng Miss Universe Philippines, yung BBP chaka ng production yet di ko sila dini discourage because they produced so much crown for our country

This is a wise thing to do - get a new leader. Stella just can't keep up with the times. South Africa is the one that has wised up in recent years. I hope that the new MU organization in the Phillippines will be very careful in picking the judges and will do a good job at briefing (verbally and in writing) the judges regarding the qualities that a MU candidate that the Philippines should send before the actual pageant.

MWO can award the franchise to Madamme Araneta if the latter choose to bid. I think, even though MUP is not in BPCI, Bb. Pilipinas will remain as a successful pageant and their legacy will remain known for producing top caliber queens. It may not be the most sought after pageant but the fact that Miss International is in their hands, it will not affect their ranking as one of the prestigious pageant in the country.
Miss Universe having their own local organization is a great news to the local pageant industry, nasasayang kasi yung mga Filipinang may potential to represent the country to the Miss Universe. Once they were crowned as a winner in one of those lower tier pageants they can no longer join Binibining Pilipinas, thus losing their chance to become Miss Universe Philippines forever. And also, Binibining Pilipinas is losing its prestigiousness by franchising in lower tier pageants including the trash ones like Miss Grand International.

Dapat talagang matagal na inalis ang Miss U sa BPCI. The standard is higher since Catriona won. For sure, they are not only going to look for a qualified candidate who is beautiful, intelligent, eloquent and spontaneous, but a woman who can truly inspire the universe with her authenticity, life-changing story and advocacies. Just like Cat and the reigning Miss U 2019 SA. I believe they will follow the format of MU para salang sala talaga sila.
I hope MU PH adds the Top 20 opening statement portion and the top five and three Q and A portions so that the winner has a better feel on what to do in Miss Universe preliminary and coronation night if they're placed.
I think, even though MUP is not in BPCI, Bb. Pilipinas will remain as a successful pageant and their legacy will remain known for producing top caliber queens. It may not be the most sought after pageant but the fact that Miss International is in their hands, it will not affect their ranking as one of the prestigious pageant in the country.
As long as Philippine pageantry as a whole try to win Big Four major pageant titles year after year, they'll be alright.
BBP will be the best training ground for future MUP candidates and winners. Sa BBP may local pageant na sila then if manalo sila at magcompete sa ibang bansa may experience na sila then compete ulit sa MUP if they really want to join Miss U. Parang All-Stars na ang MUP kasi from Mutya, Earth, MWP, at BBP na ang mga girls na sasali! Pang neophyte pageant kontesera na muna ang BBP so okay na okay!
@@BcdBoi Those organizations, MUPH, BBP, Mutya, MWP and MEP are showcasing the Philippines' depth of candidates for a lot of pageants including the Big Four of Universe, World, International and Earth.
Sure, there will be candidates gunning to represent the Philippines in Miss Universe, but there will be a lot of titles in play.
I rather judge Philippine pageantry as a whole instead of only the big enchilada in Miss Universe.
The idea is good pero parang magiging mahina na ang Bb. Pilipinas since we all know that majority of the girls only aims for one crown and that is the MUP crown so if separated na ang MUP i guess (for me lang) mawawala na yung mga Filipina calibers natin sa BBP gaya ng dati and yung trademark name na "Bb. Pilipinas" baka maglaho na lang. I hope lang, na this changes won't affect the future of Philippines' pageantry. Laban Pilipinas!!

The reason is that mas ma-aappreciate pa ang mga ibang pageants na nasa under ng Binibining Pilipinas, hindi lang basta basta nakafocus sa Miss Universe. Siyempre kapag ang Philippines ay itinuturing Pageant powerhouse sa world of pageantry, kailangan magaling din tayo sa mga ibang pageants, *hindi lang nakafocus sa Miss Universe.* So I think strategy nga ito ang ginawa nila. They separated the Miss Universe PH franchise from BBP so that more people could appreciate the other international pageants such as Miss International, Miss Supranational, Miss Grand International ( Lalo na ‘to dahil wla pa tayong isang korona so far), Miss Globe, and Miss Intercontinental.
