This incident happened to me I live in an apartment building on the top floor and I got off on a floor below same number and didn’t realize until I put the key in the door and it wouldn’t fit I’m like wait I looked up saw I was on the wrong floor. Now that could have went left had someone opened the door that was crazy and not give me a chance to explain I could have gotten beat, jailed or killed. Even if she was in the wrong apartment she could have respected him and communicated instead of shooting first. If he were white she wouldn’t have done that. It’s so said. I hope she never get to be an officer ever again. I’m so sorry for the victim and his family.
Let her do another 5 years, especially after those comments. Those people will NEVER have their son, uncle, brother back. Let's say it's an accident, if it were him, would he be getting out? Would we be so forgiving? I'm a nurse, if I accidentally killed my patient they'd lock me up for longer than a couple of years. Lots of people have to pay for consequences of accidents. Why she any different?
She didn't have a red carpet at the door...the door wasn't cracked...there is a key card to get in.....she banged on the door saying 'LET ME IN!'...she only owned a dog....Botham was shot in the chest when he opened the door (no coroner's report)....she rendered no aid to him....she wasn't such a good shot that she could shoot in the dark....every single home I've ever been in has a light switch next to the door....why would a judge hug/give a bible to a defendant who committed murder? Just a thought.
One shot is manslaughter. Two shots is murder. The man is unarmed and is in his own apartment. The second shot has no excuse. The second shot is murder.
Any law enforcement is taught to double tap, because the likelihood of hitting a suspect with one shot, in a high stress situation, is slim to none. Now, if she had hit him one time, and then stood over top of him, and fired a fatal shot, then we're talking about 1st degree murder with intent. She had no intent to murder anyone, when she left the police station that night. And while working 14 hrs could make one delusional, she might still have noticed that she was on the wrong floor, had she not been on the phone sex talking with a married man. Lastly, the whole thing might have been avoided, if the poor man had simply locked his door. That way, her key would not have worked, and maybe she would have gotten the picture. It was just an all around bad scenario, that went terribly sour. She should do the entire 10 years, which is not much for an innocent man's life.
How would you not notice that you're at the wrong apartment? You didn't notice the furniture was different? This is who the people trust to protect and serve?
The apartment house was laid out so each floor was identical .so unless you knew which floor you were on it would be hard to tell the difference. Plus I have accidently hit the wrong button in an elevator before and gone the the wrong floor in the hotel .did it in Vegas but luckily the floor was laid out different so I knew I was on the wrong floor .
She should do all of 10 years, she should have gotten more. We live west of Dallas. The city also named a street after Botham, in an attempt to save face.
There's more to this story. She strikes me as an unintelligent, immature, insecure person who is desperate for power, respect & attention. She crossed paths with this man at some point and because she felt slighted by him, she set him up for this.
@sarah.j.777 That’s exactly what I think. She admitted she had seen him around and spoke to him on several occasions. I believe she was rejected by him and couldn’t get over it, that’s why she killed him.
Yessss, It Was Sickening..What was his motive ?... I might could see him , hugging her..If she would have said, something like..I was wrong for shooting him .I made a mistake..He was an innocent man.. I'm guilty of , wrongfully, taking his life..... Because people do make mistakes....But this was NOT THAT CASE..
Being a cop, she probably knows everyone on that parole board or, her “friends in high places)“ do! They’ll give it to her but she certainly doesn’t deserve it! I remember this case but it seems to me that it just happened! I’m shocked she’s been in prison for 5 years already!
Di she say before she shot (an unarmed man) "why did you remove and replace ALL MY STUFF? and why did you arrange it differently?!" What a strange chick.
I remember this story. The reason for the murder charge(s) was that she tried to cover it up with that story of not noticing, etc. She also knew him. They had dated and had a fling/hooked up very briefly. He broke up/called off things with her and was seeing someone else. Also, she lived a floor below him, so it was hard not to notice that you had climbed an extra flight of stairs. Hence, the murder charge (s). She is and was not as stupid as people want to think or make you think.
You don’t know what she had in mind at the time of the shooting, only she knows. Drug dealers get more time in prison. This woman murdered somebody and received only 10 years🤷🏼
There was another female cop that killed a man because she said she thought she had her taser in her hand and not her pistol!!!! She meant to tase him and he was killed instead. I thought that women were smart, always hearing it women are smarter then men. guess what no they're not.

Glad you said it. Die-versity kills.
She should have got 40 years, without eligibility for parole!
AGREED and working 14 hrs is no excuse for this happening-NONE. Her whole story is bull&&&&.
@@kerry-j4m WELL SAID!!!
@@kellymcgrane2690 Thank you,2690.
You know they werent gonna give her that...
She only got a lighter sentence because she was a cop.
I lived in Dallas when this happened. It was such a senseless tragedy.
"IF" it went down the way she said...
ya, manslaughter
Cause she was a cop….
You are correct. He opened the door and she shot him. She said, if I recall correctly, that she thought his phone in his hand was a gun.
One shot is manslaughter. Two shots is murder. The man is unarmed and is in his own apartment. The second shot has no excuse. The second shot is murder.
In the universe you live in I guess
The first shot was murder. No way she thought that was her apartment.
Even if she thought she was in the right room he was unarmed and never tried to attack her she woulda had the drop on him she wanted to shoot him
How would you not notice that you're at the wrong apartment? You didn't notice the furniture was different? This is who the people trust to protect and serve?
She was exhausted. She just doesn't have what it takes to do that job and have any sense left over when she's done.
I agree
The apartment house was laid out so each floor was identical .so unless you knew which floor you were on it would be hard to tell the difference. Plus I have accidently hit the wrong button in an elevator before and gone the the wrong floor in the hotel .did it in Vegas but luckily the floor was laid out different so I knew I was on the wrong floor .
@@terryendsley6079I think you were just born an idiot. It’s ok we all can’t have common sense.

I remember this case. I could be wrong but i thought she was drunk!
The police had actually been to his apartment days before about noise, somehing to do with music. She knew damn well it wasn’t her apartment.
@@funtimefranky she literally made a noise complaint to apartment management THAT MORNING. They called him about it. She got away with premeditated.
She should do all of 10 years, she should have gotten more. We live west of Dallas. The city also named a street after Botham, in an attempt to save face.
Don't worry folk's, she will be working on the force again protecting our citizens. Hopefully, no one will be eating ice cream when she gets re-hired.
Smh 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢 it is a damn shame that poor man was in his own home enjoying ice cream! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
She can't ever work on a police force. She's a felon so she can never own a firearm.
I@sarah.j.777....I truly believe you..
@@Luv2gd2btru I doubt that you could ever prove that, better get a private eye to dig up the dirt. It will cost $$$$.
Seeing his younger brother hug her was sickening.
I thought it looked amazing how much bigger of a person he is, a very mature soul that's for sure
That whole situation is horrible and a poor judgment call and never should have been a cop.
You never bore us ,you have the best TH-cam channels Lamont.
Only 10 years in prison!!! 😳
Being a cop, she probably knows everyone on that parole board or, her “friends in high places)“ do! They’ll give it to her but she certainly doesn’t deserve it! I remember this case but it seems to me that it just happened! I’m shocked she’s been in prison for 5 years already!
What a incompetent former cop! Lucky she is not a cop anymore. She's more a treat to the community as a cop.
The brother let Amber hug him in court. I’m thinking his mother would have been mad.
Thanks for pic of cat
She knew what the hell she was doing!
I don’t remember it … but I would have noticed it wasn’t my apartment! ? 😳

You don’t know what she had in mind at the time of the shooting, only she knows. Drug dealers get more time in prison. This woman murdered somebody and received only 10 years🤷🏼
maybe you should give her a hug too…
Right
She should stay in prison that's what I think Lamont and she should get more then 10 years taking some one life.
There was another female cop that killed a man because she said she thought she had her taser in her hand and not her pistol!!!! She meant to tase him and he was killed instead. I thought that women were smart, always hearing it women are smarter then men. guess what no they're not.
OTHER WAY AROUND IT WOULD BE DIFFÉRENT
25 TO LIFE.
AGAIN SHE'S A MURDERER ..
She needs to sit her ass down and stay in prison. Luckily I wasn’t the judge I would have gave her a life sentence. I hope his whole family shows up to her parole hearing!
May he rest in heaven🙏
Her whole job is to be attentive to details.
She could have simply asked hey what's up?
Oh Lamont..the kitty cats..🐈 😂 im from Cleveland ohio..I get it..too funny 😁 😮❤
She should do the hole ten years.
AMEN.

Alway lock your door!
I always thought this case was a HUGE injustice. From start to finish!
she could of detain him,but she choose to shoot him instead.Parole should b denied and she should serve the remainder of her time.
And more time!
I remember watching the trial & the victims brother hugged Amber. I think she’s guilty as sin and should’ve gotten way more time.
She not only did not notice the mat, But come on, Anyone would know the furnishings are different. Smells even...

Greetings Lamont from Philadelphia
Can people write to the court and demand her as a candidate for NO parole? Does the public ever have a say in egregious matters as this where the time did not fit the crime?
Now what did she do! 😮
This young man had just gotten off work and was sitting on his couch in some shorts eating ice cream and looking at TV!!!
She was on the floor below her floor(which she had a mat or rug in front of her door and he didn't), and then went into HIS HOME and KILLED HIM!!!
Please don't let her get parole. Her sentence is already TOO SHORT!!!
it would have a walk-in stop and look at the door number and "oh sorry wrong apartment" and walk off.
