The short video was very interesting… well done who took part !! It’s great to learn about the pass and the future . And the Tamworth History of the place. I hope this video will encourage other local schools.
I’ve just got engaged into a Tammie family. This video was surprisingly informative, not because i had low expectations, but because it gave a lot of information. His family worked the mines and lives in the Belgrave / Wilnecote area.
A fascinating film about Belgrave. I hoped for a mention of the high school, unusually built as a middle school, but never opened as such; there was an identical building at Glascote. The building opened, I understand, in September 1975, with pupils aged 11 as an annex of Wilnecote High school. In September 1976 it opened as Belgrave Comprehensive School, with pupils aged 11 - 13 and Headmaster J W N Frame.
I grew up on Stoneydelph in the late seventies to early eighties. My mates and I would hang out over at the lakes from time to time. We would get a few cuts on the witch's hat in the park just the other side of Belgrave. We would also scare people with tales of a child-killing man that lived on one of the islands, or was it the island? I forget.
