RIP DAD, it’s only been 2 days but I need to get all these song off my chest. I’m only 29 I shouldn’t know what this is! RIP DAD, RIP SMILEY CULTURE. My dad made me a fan early. :)
What a night that was it was the reggae awards , Freddie m’gregor and so many ,David rodigon as he would be there best , to this day my daddy still thought we were helping the nuns , love reggae brought up with it and my children and grandchildren to , and our Irish songs too 🇨🇮🇨🇮🇯🇲🇯🇲
Poor fella was murdered by the old bill as well, absolutely disgusting what they robbed from us. The way he combines cockney with patois sounds so authentically pure and magical, cannae help but move me body round the kitchen when I hear him. One love ❤️.
R.I.P. Smiley, three years and two months, next week, you've been gone. Your needless death will never be forgotten and we will fight always for at least answers from the police about your death. If the police think this is over, they are completely wrong! Justice for Smiley!
My uncle who sadly died at 50 loved this when i was about 5 he was in 20s . Smoking weed to it . I forgot about it until i came across it again and told my uncle he laughed his head off . So as we was very close we played this at his wake and the stuck up part of the family faces were a picture🤣🤣 serious. Then we went to his favourite pub and madly this was on the juke box so we kept playing it over . Their faces at....good thing i hide my ganga . True story .
Just found this tune the other day searching through my mums record collection. Ran it too many times, too relatable all these years later…RIP 😁 Culture ‘POLICE OFFICER NA GIVE ME PRODUCER’ 😂 Legend
I saw this man, my brother in spirit, at Gloucester music festival, on the Friday night with the fireworks in Gloucester park. I will never forget that night. Thanks Smiley for my smile and a good memory.R.I.P. and save me a place at the bar dread😁
Had this tune pop in my head tonight just randomly for no reason, and was chuffed to see it on TH-cam. Didn't know he died in 2011 😪 Was curious to see what he looked like these days as well. Thanks for the upload! ~ Jay Vee, November 2023.
This is a great song. I love it. Even though I was born in 1992, there are a lot of songs from the 80's that I like and this is definitely in the top 3 for me.
A police officer asked me if he could make a phone call on my mobile to phone a friend, feeling generous I said make 2 phone calls and phone all your friends, what a good citizen I am!
Here in 2021, Jamaican lady on my estate used to blast smiley out in the hot summer holidays and I used to proper vibe. Well as much as a ten year old white boy could
This, Barrington Levy and Joseph Cotton were what I heard in the 80’s at college in South London. Funny how I know all the words and not heard in decades lol.
I know this video so well, but I never knew the edit was from the only copy. Think I must of been watching a previous upload on TH-cam, without insights from the one of the creators! Only adds to how much I love this video (and the tune, of course). Big up Giblets and Smiley! EDIT: And now I'm looking at your called robmacgillivray - I never knew the team behind the Police Office video were behind so many ace videos. Love your work!
Thank you so much for uploading this ! I saw it for the first time on Sky Trax a long long time ago. This is the first time i see it back in it`s complete form ; the other version available here stopped at 3.04 A tribute to a great artist !!
Saw him live in the forum in Kentish Town , it was a reggae night all the best singers at the time and the general , it was 86 , 87 , me and my sister told our father we were helping the nuns in lady margeret road church, we saw him out side after the concert and he chatted my sister up and wanted her to go to south London, I intervened cos my daddy eoyld of kilt us
