I am a disabled veteran waiting over a year to bring my wife to the USA. At first ot said i only had to wait a few months, now it has increased to over a year. I have been told that my case is going to take another year despite me already waiting for a year already. I was told that asylum seekers are higher priority than me as a 100% P&T gulf war veteran. Most of these asylum cases are "defensive asylum cases" according to the official reports. I believe these cases are from criminals or scammers who are noncitizens who entered the USA as a noncitizen. They say that the immigration agency is funded by the application fees, but many of the fees are waved as people who come with nothing can't pay. So the people who actually paid the fees are not a priority. I am very angry due to my MH and I admit I do not always speak properly when speaking to immigration. Once I calmed down I called them and asked to have my case prioritized, and we will see what they do. Ironically, many of these defensive asylum cases from non citizens are approved in weeks claiming things like MH while our veterans, disabled vets and US Citizens are left behind to wait for years. I was told there is no way to file a complaint, there is also a special immigration line for the military which only asks your cell number to send you to the main website. In the past there was an Ombudsman service that could help, but the system is so backed up and so overwhelmed there is nothing that can do. I need my wife to come to the US so I can have her help bringing me to the VA hospital there. I am now outside of the USA and not able to get much help. I found out that unless you are specifically service connected for a condition you will not get help from the VA outside of the USA. I have horrible skin problems where my skin got infected so much I was in need of antibiotics. While I am 100% P&T and having toxic exposure my claims for skin problem was denied even though I had direct medical records of skin problems during the gulf war and TERA verified. I was denied for all skin issues (don't even try to apply for this) but what am I to do now? If I try to push hard to get my skin issues service connected i make a huge risk in losing my P&T. There are also othe major issues i had where i was told to not go to those appointments after I was granted P&T. Thank you for listening, I just feel as though we need more laws to help veterans and disabled Veterans who are being put behind in many areas because many services we need are being flooded and overwhelmed by those who didn't serve or contribute.
