4 minutes in and I suppose the entire issue can be summed up to: Officials being too vague, yet again, and talking too much about dangers while not talking enough about reassuring things, yet again.
If the animals live in captivity and are not released into the wild and re-captured or have pastures other deer with the problem could just wander on and infect the healthy ones, there shouldn't be a problem. Right?
Thinking otherwise could be applied to ALL lifestock, no? There is a similar disease for cows, yet nobody is being foolish there. And I'm sure there is wild issues that could be connected to domestic pigs, birds, sheep, etc. too.
Not sure if this should be counted as spreading misinformation but they REALLY need to do a better job at not only talking about the negatives. That's VERY important with these kinda things.

@@gferraro8353 Not sure. If anything, it seems like they just did not emphazise that not the entirety of deers is infected/at risk since not all deer, especially captive kept ones!, are at risk for it. What they wrote in those texts sounded like they want people to believe ANY deer can have it. Which explains why they target deer breeders.
It's fine testing different herds and making sure to get rid of illnesses, but randomly picking out breeders and targetting them isn't the way to go. That's like going to your neighbor and saying their dog has rabies. Sure, it could, but we should CHECK before saying all animals in the house need to be destroyed.
