I think this would have been a balanced comparison, if you used the Rockfords that are 6x9 and took off the protective plastics cage off the magnets. The Hertz don’t have one. I personally had Hertz front and back and found that the 6x9 rear and front speakers sounded just as good with more lows on the 6x9 Fosgate. The Rockford’s were really loud too. By the way, I installed the amp software update.
Thanks, I'm sitting here really confused about upgrading RF speakers. I thought they were pretty high on the SQ & SPL range.

Your timing will be good! You should have the opportunity to get an amplifier upgrade and speakers at the same time. The amp will allow you to take full advantage of the speakers.

Good point. This is step one of the upgrade. The big difference will be the amplifier. These new speakers will be able to handle the louder volume from the amp
For drop in not bad over stage 3 setup. My plan is cicadas and bigger amp. Let it really be heard.
Definitely need a stronger amp to get more sound. HD has made the system proprietary which is making it difficult for audio shops to upgrade the system
The speaker grills have to be removed from the top down or you break the very tiny tabs on the bottom. Looking how you pulled it off from the side I bet your bottom tabs are broke off resulting in the grill not being as tightly attached as before

They sound good, but this system needs a bigger amp. HD made the new audio system proprietary...audio shops are having a difficult time upgrading it
Thank you for the update on the Hertz sound on the highway, good to know. Apparently H-D have employed a A2B digital signal between the headend and the RF DSP/Amp which is slowing development in the aftermarket space. I see that Jay at VA is on the case with decoder development, so we wait patiently. @@RidingandWrenching
So that's with the stock RF amp.
I actually wonder how the older bikes with boom audio would sound with just a speaker upgrade.
BTW nvs audio already has a kit for the new cvo with upgraded speakers as well as amp .
I saw the NVS video. It's crazy how much it takes to add an amp to this bike. I really don't understand why HD made it so difficult.

The dealer ,so who gets the profit. The dealer.
But nvs" just " added a ASP unit. Another guy at the volunteer audio page actually said that's what would be done weeks before it was officially announced.by nvs audio.
But this is one of the reasons I don't like the all in one units, when your radio or guages go everything has to be replaced as it's all in one unit.

So question. My buddy has a 2021 CVO with RF system. He wants to upgrade his speakers but most places I read that you cannot use anything but the OEM RF speakers with the CVO System. Did you have to do anything to get it to work? You still have the CVO RF OEM AMP? No issues?
No issues. I didn't have to do anything special to get the speakers to work. Be sure to reach out to Volunteer Audio. They also have an amp upgrade if you want more volume

Yes, this is just a speaker replacement. Volunteer Audio expects to have an amp available some time next year

Yes they are water proof. I will do a video soon testing their water resistance!
The main thing is when you ride, the bike will adjust bass down at speed so that negates it at speed.
True. I'm looking forward to adding a more powerful amp. Sometimes I like to listen to podcasts on long trips. Louder, clearer sound is important

What phone audio settings do you use?
The music was playing from a USB thumb drive.
Will you be upgrading the battery and stater to compensate for the new amp and speakers? I used to do car audio, and upgrading the muscle behind the audio system is important too.
I won't have the amp until sometime next year. If necessary, I will replace the battery. I will likely put a lithium in my CVO.

@RidingandWrenching volunteer audio. They work but I had to make a couple of cuts and drill a separate hole for a screw to go was all.
@@Firemedic1985we sell this speaker both modified for the new cvo and non modified, if you buy the modified speaker set the fit perfectly with no modification needed to the bike and use factory mounting hardware and holes. What is your name and I will review your order?
