I found closing up the V in the form of a dart and then joined the sides together. With this method the seam at the top is less bulky and lies flat.

I haven't done many projects with fleece. Is it best to wash fleece fabric before beginning an apparel project like making your hooded cape? Thank you for making your tutorials and patterns easily available!

Since fleece doesn’t shrink it’s not necessary. I never wash it before because it adds another step and I find it easier to cut out right off the bolt
