I had the incredible privilege to go on tour with Thom and Radiohead in 2012 on the King of Limbs US tour (I ran a booth at their shows for an environmental group they really support). I will never forget listening to this song again and again - just this wild, blistering opener, each night for an incredible throng of new people who were in for an incredible show - one that I got to see something like 12 times in three weeks. I fell in love with this album during those precious days, and so I’ve never really related to what people say when they say KoL isn’t a great album. To me it was… indescribable. I was a huge fan of Radiohead before this tour, but this is when I fell in love with the music and the magic these guys create when they’re on stage together. Some of you might remember that the final day of this tour ended in a horrific accident when the stage (provided by Live Nation - this was not their (excellent) crew’s fault) collapsed, injuring multiple crew members, crushing instruments and killing their drum tech. Scott Johnson had become a friend on that tour. I was/am a fellow drummer, and we got to connect about music - and more than that we just to share an appreciation for great music, a sense of gratitude for fun, incredible opportunities like going on a tour with a band like this, and just a simple, genuine appreciation of life and how beautiful it can be. I’m crying right now as I write this. I don’t think I ever really processed my grief from seeing him die. It was just… one moment he was there, and the next moment everything had suddenly changed, and he was gone, and the band and the crew - we were all just shocked and confused. Scott was a good, kind person. He even let me up on stage to play on Phil’s drums for a minute one day before the show in Philly, and he took a picture of me. What an incredible group of people the band and that crew were. Thom was so kind and gracious. He seemed to have a genuine appreciation for the work I was doing. And Bloom - god what an incredible opener to each of those shows.
I feel so grateful to have read this story today. KoL is a beautiful album. I love all of their albums. My favorite is whatever I’m listening to lately. That’ll be KoL thanks to your post. You should check out Thom and Johnny’s new project The Smile. Gorgeous stuff.
This song always helped me dealing with myself. It helped me to perceive the world from a microscopic point of view. I am humbled. Thank you universe for keeping me alive in this timeline with this Gentleman. Thom Yorke, Sire, may You live eternally through your music, art and existence.
This is what I want to hear on my final journey..."And while the ocean blooms, It's what keeps me alive. So why does this still hurt? Don't blow your mind with whys." Simply sublime 🩵💙🤍
I personally think that Radiohead gave it all. AMSP is literally the best career-ending album that could exist. I enjoy what The Smile are doing and hope they will do something together again and again.
OMGGG. How absolutely beautiful and gorgeous is this in every way. I thought the Ladyland version was beyond...this is beyond beyond. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing performance ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I sing his songs in my car and as my tone matches his perfectly it’s as if we are one . Collapsing the duality into One . I know I’ve found an angel singing when it’s felt vibrating throughout my being and my heart opens . Thank you thom I would be honored to be at one of your live performances.
For anyone missing Radiohead: I do too. But if you haven't already, I strongly urge you to listen through The Smile's two albums back-to-back, with headphones, laying on your bed. The records got it all: early Radiohead-esque rock tracks, cool, laid-back tracks, etheral Thom Yorke-type tracks, tear-jerking orchestrated ballad tracks, almost jazz-like tracks, math rock tracks, psych rock tracks, I mean... The Smile is just fucking great. Their latest synth arpeggio track is also really good, I gotta listen to it some more man. I love you, Greenwood.
the king of limbs is so under appreciated. the songs on there are just ethereal, especially bloom
they were mkay.
I agree
Live versions are way better than the studio versions, especially with Bloom
huuh.......
Under appreciated by who?
@@Aniki82 fans in general, im just saying that i dont see it praised as much as other albums within the fanbase

Thom Yorke can't stop being on fire. Creativity pours through this man.

Thom has set the standards of the whole contemporean music at a different scale

thank you for your idealism in music, so i could get inspired to do the same in other things, Thom.
How could anyone ever say Radiohead is just a rock band, this is so much more than that
so warming and beautiful
if i had to give an alien or some otherworldly figure a sort of "introduction" to the earth, bloom is definitely what i would choose to put over it
It's what keeps me alive

you´re the love that i´ll never forget
My most recent epiphany on King of Limbs is that it's a collection of mantras and meditations.... In that light it's perfect for what it is.
Gracias cariño por esta maravillosa notificación ❤😍😘
Great voice, He should start a band.
Obrigado Thom! Suas músicas são.... indefiníveis!
