Have you seen the prices for Diaclone? My good man, Takara, Tomy's Diaclone reboot prices will give you a heart attack. Micronauts has plenty of 2003 and 4 figures hoarded on ebay.
Sup-par 7 is a joke, seriously it's a joke I honestly wait for their figures to hit discount stores like ROSS, or T.J. Maxx they drop to 5 dollars. I think what gets me more is their excuse for the high cost. I mean it would be one thing if they had to come up with new molds for every line, but they keep using the same molds over and over, how many Godzillas have they made, how many releases of the power rangers did they have, how many times have they reissues Optimus prime, or better yet how many times have they reissues a g.i. joe figure with just a new paint deco, hell one entire wave of joes was the grunt troopers with only different skin tones.
All Micro fans know Karza and Biotron had a vintage 3.75" counterparts, and I personally am looking forward to seeing how these new versions turn out - for only $20 a piece. I've enjoyed some of your content over the years, Tony - unfortunately your whinging here is indicating late-stage tosserhood.
My thing has always been bring em all back. Take the original toy lines from the 70’s and 80’s and just wholesale rerelease them. Look at the success Mattel has had with the motu origins line. Look at Mego bringing back the world’s greatest superheroes line. Or playmates tmnt rereleases..or the super powers line. These toys were loved by kids back then and I think they would be loved now too. Imagine how awesome it would be to have 12 inch gi joe back on the shelves with all the cool vehicles and playsets. Kung fu grip, talking commander, the whole bit. These toy lines have been beloved for 40 years for a reason…cuz they’re awesome toys. It’s obvious that no one has any new ideas anymore in the toy industry so just go whole hog in to one of these old lines and watch em fly off shelves.
I dont believe this will happen, but Super7 should reissue the pricey rare aliens like Membros and Cerebos. Also, Super7 does NOT deserve all this hate. They are a very creative company, I for one am a big fan or their music (rock n roll, metal and hip hop) action figures. The artwork on their packaging is top notch. True, I tend not to open them up and play, but Im a proud owner of Devo, Ramones, Clash, Sex Pistols and Motley Crue figures. I dont see ANY other toy company making ones like these.
I picked up Bon Scott and Phil Lynott. I am in agreement with the non oring figures being more cheesy and not as cool as the first ones from my childhood. If they did release oring versions my young son and daughter would have the whole collection!!
Fans of Micronauts should keep an eye on Takara Tomy and wait for them to make Microman again. They seem to revive it more often than the Micronauts line gets revived in the West.
They’re doing a Microman homage which was originally called Project M but now it’s called Altered Nano. The toys were designed by Shoji Shinkawa (Metal Gear) and unfortunately have a very Metal Gear style to them.
I thought S7 did a great job on another niche sci-fi line like The Black Hole figures. Packaging was unique. Old Bob, which shipped to only a few international markets, is impossible to get from the original Mego line. This is what S7 does well.
Im a GI Joe Collector and have ignored super7’s reaction figures for that line (for all the reasons you mention in your video) BUT I took a chance on super7’s reaction+ line of GIJoe and was pleasantly surprised, blown away even.
I purchased the two of them, right away (cost me $100 Canadian with shipping and conversion). I think most Micronaut collectors would like a 3.75" Karza and Force Commander. I actually 3d modelled and printed one a couple of months ago. I think they might do the comic versions, but these two are good for a start. Japanese collectors may pick-up these two instead of the comic team. i understand the choices for the broader appeal.
As a casual collector, I have never been compelled to buy any S7 figures. I like the licenses they have, but the prices and quality just doesn't make any sense for me. I've been wanting to buy a few old Micronauts, and I can probably get them in Japan, for lesser than what S7 is selling it for.
@@williamsorrells6058 The only thing holding me back from purchasing them is because, I bought a few microman figures from Mandarake and they became brittle. I'm afraid the micronauts' plastic won't hold up anymore, especially that they were produced much earlier than the Takara microman. I highly doubt these Super 7 figures would last longer than its predecessor.
@3DZipGuy if those were the 2002 Palisades reissues those figures are infamous for being pieces of crap, at least the first wave was. But no seriously the takara figures are still made in Japan and are of great quality, though they are known as microman, heck they do cross over figures, one set is with Godzilla where the microman figure can be put into a rubber suit, think like what the old Godzilla preformers had to do for the classic movies.
The Godzilla super 7 reaction figures have been great. As long as these Micronaughts don't have uneven legs like most of the Gi joe and Transformers reaction figures they'll be good i think.
Thanks for saying this. When he said they hadn’t been made in 40 years I immediately thought of Palisades. I have a couple of them. Poor quality, though, and the line quickly folded.
@@surrealcereal603 Same, maybe they weren't available in Australia so he had no clue. I actually didn't know Palisades made the line until it was already done.
I mean I get the dislike for Super7's prices and there are aspects of the company that I really don't like- high turnover rate for employees, not crediting designers, etc. They are one of the only toy companies that takes homage to the toy world and the history of toys. I don't see Hasbro building out old Kenner lines. Super7 takes chances on niche lines that simply don't have the power to stay in the general toy buying audiences. Also their graphic designers are god damn talented. Don't really get going after Brian Flynn's personal hood like that
To answer the main point, and a lot of beef I see with Super7 critiques, the point is style. I totally respect not caring for it, but the point of ReAction is to give fans of Kenner-style 5POA more to collect and display. It doesn't have to be a fully complete reimagining or anything like that, but it's cool to see these non-5POA IPs, and other non-toy IPs (re: Willy Wonka) getting offerings. Now, the quality is average and yes, ReAction is overpriced for a single figure that usually never has accessories. It's also a joke that Super7 can't swing a vehicle here and there. But man, the price...ever since the doubling to $20 w/ the Transformers line, I've essentially given up on partaking in any but the really niche releases that hit my personal sweet spots. Again, I think it's clear what the point is, but I totally agree the juice isn't worth the squeeze in general when it comes to ReAction.
One of the things not mentioned is that the card backs make reference to the events of the Marvel Micronauts story... But as far as we know they don't have the rights to the Marvel portion of the Micronauts IP.
Hasbro and Marvel worked out a deal that allowed the Marvel runs of Micronauts and Rom to be reprinted last year so I'm hoping for a relaunch of at least a limited scale to be forthcoming. There's a greater likelihood of it being relegated to strictly licensing deals to other companies.
I snatched these right up. Super 7 has their cheaper line, ReAction, and their more expensive line, Ultimates. Both lines from what I’ve seen are pretty cool, and the ReAction line itself is oddly popular. I only have one myself, Maria from Metropolis. If you collected the comics, a 1:18 scale Karza and Biotron make sense. And while maybe we won’t get a lot from figures, maybe we get figures for comic characters we never had toys for like Slug, Dog Soldier, or Bug. Any way it pans out, it’s still more than Hasbro has done with the property. Also I’m sure Mego could get in on the action if they wanted.
I had all the micronauts figures when I was a kid. (I'm 61 now) Never got any of the playsets tho. Also collected and loved the marvel comics. Just great great stuff!
Address a few of your points. I do agree with you on the price point. Super 7 started out with good pricing and just went up from there. I think both of these figures look really good. 12 POA for $20.00, well TBH, most toys do cost more today. The original Takara Microman line had BOTH of these figures in the 3.75" size. Karza's body was borrowed from JEEG and Biotron was known as Robotman. Doubtful if Super 7 would put out any playset for Micronauts. Finally as for the new MEGO company putting out Micronauts. They have ZERO interest. They ONLY want the 8" mego figure. Some people hate Super 7 and some don't. I'm fine with them. Except for the pricing as I mentioned.
Look at what you get for $12-$20 in a 6" WWE wrestling figure and tell me how the heck Super 7 can charge what they do. It's not like they are making small numbers of these things by hand, Super 7 is putting these things into Target stores for heaven's sake. Meanwhile, Mattel has to cover the WWE license (which can't be cheap) and Mattel certainly isn't going to put a product out that they don't make a decent margin on. And yet the 6 inch figures have plenty of articulation, very nice character-specific sculpts, and they're not stingy with the paint apps. All for $12-20.
Fun fact: the original Baron Karza and other similar figures in the Micronauts line were repaints of the Steel Jeeg figure, with same magnetic joints and new heads
Yeah, seeing the price point, extra glossy cards [some even with chrome accents] and lack of accessories with most figs, they are not intended to be toys to be played with, but, like the absolute garbage that are funkos, left in the box and drooled at
I think ya are being a bit harsh. $20 is not a lot of money nowadays. I think its nice having loads od stuff in that 3.75" style so you could have mashups with Gi Joe, Micronauts, Lemmy, Spiderman etc. That being said... the original Micronauts were very... how you say.... Beautiful. So is big shoes to fill in that regard.
Had a lot of original Micronauts toys as a kid and immediately preordered these 2 new ones. I'd like to see Force Commander and Acroyear next. I would have loved to get the Marvel comics team line up. I hope they do a movie eventually.
I'm a casual collector, more a "Serial Accumulator", I've seen Micronauts, but was never a big fan or collector of the toys. I'm disappointed to hear your take on Super 7, since they have the license to Thundercats action figures. I was a staff artist (and writer of two episodes) for the last season of the original Rankin/Bass Thundercats. I designed a lot of secondary characters I hoped to see Super 7 make into action figures. Such is life. Thanks, for sharing. th-cam.com/video/R9p5QRYdfLc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=7hIRdLGvpVjSR33g
I am so excited for these - they look amazing! As far as the price goes, I can buy a few new Reaction figures for the price of a single beat-up vintage figure. Plus, Super7 even hired the original Kenner Star Wars sculptor Stephen Geddes to work on some of their lines - that’s too cool!
I had the Battle Cruiser to put my Micronauts in when I was a kid in '79. I have Force Commander and Baron Karza in my current toy collection, always loved their magnetic joints. I'll probably get the Super7 for nostalgic reasons and the artwork.
I found the Super 7 bigger 7" GI Joe and Transformers figures to be pretty good, even great if you can get them at a sale price. The 3.75" have been passable, but ONLY if you find them at a good sale price (they put out a significant number of GI Joe reworked and repainted figures of many previously unreleased characters/archetyes both new and inspired by Marvel comic/cartoon/foreign variant sources so that's a plus for me. Sale only still.)
I love your content. BUT - Reaction/S7 is a taste of vintage. A chance to have things that we wanted, but never had. Cost- true, they are pricey, but it's a chance to reminisce. Value is in the eyes of the buyer. They do a great job. The slurs cheapen your opinion.
I'm definitely intrigued by these figures. The text copy on Biotron is encouraging, mentioning Commander Rann. That means they're tapping into the Marvel Comics characters (hopefully). I envision Force Commander, Microtron, Bug, Commander Rann, Acroyer, and Prince Shaitan, and if they looked good, Marionette and Slug. But Super 7's quality control on their 2001 Space Odyssey figures was really poor (you couldn't change heads), so I don't know how good these will be. Biotron should be bigger, but not giant size - they should be proportional to their comic counterparts. And sure, having MEGO 8-inch or smaller figures would be nice, but after the awful Disney Store sellout of their Marvel line - what's the point? I can't get excited for a figure/line that I can't even purchase. What's wrong with nostalgia anyway? The artwork is good, the figures look nice and if they give us characters in costumes we've NEVER had before, it's a win for Micronaut fans.
First of all a BIG thanks for discussing and showing the classic Micronaut figures and vehicles/playsets. Those were my first action figures I really played with and collected so the warm and fuzzy wave of nostalgia was very appreciated. I can't talk about the quality of ReAction figures because can't fucking afford to waste my money on them but I might have got a couple IF they included some original figures and vehicles.
When Reaction got into GI Joe, I NEVER understood the point in buying figures of characters with worse articulation than the originals. This new idea of introducing O-Ring figures that were never made during the original run SHOULD be appealing, but it's Super 7, so it isn't.
@@SoelGriffin That's right. Walder and Muton's head sculpt was the same (only smaller), but the Denis Fischer Cyborg had a smaller version of the Henshin Cyborg head sculpt and not the Takara Shonen Cyborg. Same Shonen bodies though, right?
I definitely raised an eyebrow seeing these. At least they are the traditional versions. If I saw a wall of them with multiple different characters, id grab them. I think these 2 will be all we see though.
Scaled down Karza and Biotron might appeal to fans of the Marvel comics. I might get these two just to steal the heads for my modern Micronauts customs, which are comics-based
The rescaling is in line with the comic appearances, and the Biotron card references Arcturus Rann from the Marvel line. If they release figures in that vein, then we may get Rann, Bug or Marionette as well as Force Commander etc I, for one, am interested to see where this goes next and will be purchasing these initial offerings.
If you have Micronauts already I can see the appeal of this Baron Karza, simply because he scales similarly to how he does in the comics rather than the toy. Other than that, a quick nostalgia hit from a company I’d rather not support, unless they do accurate Time Travellers which I’d be all in for. Bargain bin purchase for anything else maybe. And yeah, I’d 100% prefer these done by Mego, or Takara’s Diaclone team. In fact, I think there are some modern Micronauts coming out redesigned by Hideo Kojima’s team at some point.
Super7 makes some great stuff, man. What did Brian do to you? Kick your dog? Seriously though. Just saw the 2nd wave of GI Joe O-Ring and they’re great. Fatal Fluffy and Ramar.
I never got the appeal of ReAction figures. Why would I want to buy a figure the quality of something from the 70s? It's a Happy Meal level toy by todays standards. Way over priced too.
For a while I've wanted Hasbro (the owners of the Micronauts) to create new figures that could pair with Marvel Legends. Most of us old school Micronauts fans not only loved the original toys, but the mythology that Marvel created for them. Much like with Transformers, the comics took great liberties depicting the toys so that Karza and Biotron were more "normal" sized compared with the other characters, not giants like the toys were. If thats what Super 7 is going for, I'm okay with that. The 1/18 scale of these next to the 1/12 Legends will look pretty good. The text on the Biotron card mentions Marvel character Arcturus Rann, so hopefully they'll be giving us a comic book accurate selection of characters. I'm under no illusion that Hasbro, Super 7 or any other US toy company will make anything like the original toys, theyd be too cost prohibitive for a niche nostalgia brand. Luckily Takara-Tomy still owns the original Microman brand, and they are much more willing to create intricate toys like the Diaclone reboot they launced a few years back. Last time Microman was rebooted was 1999, so they're due for another pass at the brand. As always, great to hear your perspective, Tony.
I still have my Micronaut Battle cruiser from Christmas 1978 and the three figures I got 6 months before during the Australian winter of '78. I recently looked for a carded Micronaut to buy to put in a display case with them but I'd have to rob a bank for that now. But I'll have one someday...
Yes MEGO making some new 8 inch MICRONAUTS would have been cool. But anything that gets the MICRONAUTS back out there in the media helps. These are more for display than play. I'm shocked how negative this video is. I think these figures will sell out.
I think the point of these is for fans of Micronauts to buy them. That's usually how it works, Tony. I mean, you often review toys that no one wants, or very few people want other than you. What's the point of them?
These _"Micronauts"_ are terrible designs, made out of shoddy materials, from a garbage company. The lesser known toys Tony reviews may be obscure, but they're quality products.
Thank you so much for your video! I still own the original Baron Karza since childhood and had no idea what that was. In these days, I always used it as some kind of combat robot of the empire when I was playing with my Star Wars action figures.
I’ll give these a try. I’ll keep them carded though. The Ken Kelly artwork is the main selling point for me. I did have some Time Travelers when they came out but ignored the line Spring of ‘78 when a certain Kenner line started hitting shelves.
@@simonslee73These are part of their "ReAction+" range, and the "+" is referring to the screw hole on their backs. Meaning, these are O-Ring figures with the same articulation as 3.75" G.I. Joe figures from the 80's and 90's. These are also CG Renders and not plastic products so it's hard to guage where they articulate, but if they are ReAction+ figures (and it shows that on the front of the card), then they should have around 12 PoA unlike other ReAction figures at 5 PoA.
@ thanks, yes I have some of their other Reactions, I just prefer Reaction as 5 PoA, but Micronauts aren’t really a great fit for that, especially given Barom was originally magnet based I think. I’m buying these basically just for the card art 😂
I think Hasbro owns the license and given they've proved to be in the bed with Super 7 when it comes to their licenses this didn't surprise me. Hasbro keeps failing at the one thing they should be doing, collector exclusive product, They could've made their own money rather than fill the pocket of Dopey from the Snow White film.
Your video made a lot of points on why Super7 could (or rather should) do better! I am not down on hating on companies, collectors, influencers, content creators, etc. However, Super7 is not doing much right. I have some of their items (more than I expected) but it will not include their Micronauts.
Micronaughts is a funny line to me. I had Pharoid and I had the vaguest recollections if the comic. I still have a couple of issues I’ve not looked at in many years. I’m probably going to grab Baron Karza as I never had one. I did pick up a couple of the re release versions from the early 2000’s. Repto and Acroyear. This somewhat adds to that at least. $20 for an o-ring seems close. I mean Hasbro is doing Vintage collection for $17 now and we know that construction is cheaper than O-Ring (although I’m certain Hasbro is gouging that price, but beside the point). I agree this won’t go far, but I am interested to see where it goes.
OK so i don't like Super7 and I agree that ths line won't become the long, deep line that Micronauts should recieve (a few more waves seems likely though, as this one doesn't include a Microman/Time Traveller itself which would imply, to me, that they're spacing out the big guns through a few planned waves - Super7 do have a history of that after all - unlke say, thier Jem offerings which was just the two biggest characters straight away) and that these are overpriced - becasue everything Super7 put out are overpriced, they're physically incapable of pricing something fairly. HOWEVER to dismiss these as pointless? Personally I'm interested them becasue they fit with my Marvel Legends. I reckon you probably know but if you don't: Karza and Biotron weren't jumbo sized in the Marvel comics (which, like ROM, outlasted the toyline), they were roughly the same size as everyone else (I think this Biotron might be a bit small). According to Plaidstallions there's been mention of Commander Rann in the hyping up of these, which leads me to think that the Marvel comics are playing a part in the design choices for these, which would explain the sizing (and personally it's always bugged me that Karza is so large, to me it was just the same as Orko being too big, but then I read the comics first so...). And no, I wouldn't have wanted these to go to Mego. Old Mego's self-produced 7" figures (Pocket Heroes, CB McHaul, even Eagle Force which were probably the best of the bunch, etc) were terribly crude compared to what Kenner and Fisher Price were putting out at the time and what Hasbro would put out just after, the Micronauts were the exception - largely becasue they had the Takara moulds to go off of - and the current Mego have no experience with 3 3/4 inch at all. Super7 - for all ther many flaws - do have a long experience in making detailed, decent 3 3/4 inch, and now they're putting a decent level of artic in there too. I mean ideally I'd've liked 'em to have gone to someone like Fresh Monkey Fiction or The Four Horsemen or someone but not Mego. Other than that I completely agree with you. 😂. Sorry, mate.
I didn't have Micronauts when I was a child. Looks like a brand I would have loved. The POA on any figure really was the best for immersion. I'm in the middle of rebuilding my 82-94 Joe collection. But I don't understand how anyone would pay money for any figure from Super7.
The venom toward Super 7 is fierce in this video. While I’m not at all a Super 7 apologist as I quickly tired of their poor quality after going all-in on their Alien line and a few others, the truth is they have also done original work. Their “The Worst” line, in particular, is a lot of fun. Great concepts, great card art. Wondering what the story is behind your name-calling “that little gimp, Brian Flynn”. You’re better than that, Tony. Such animosity over nothing.
Brian Flynn has flat out lied to his customers on multiple occasions. Go tell him that he's "better than that" instead of coming at me when you clearly don't understand the situation.
@ No, I don’t understand the situation. Without any context, your vitriol contradicts your usual wonderful demeanor, a hallmark of your channel and one reason I’ve watched you for years. Peace, friend. I’m not “coming at you”. Toy collecting is a fun, harmless hobby, and your name-calling seemed out of place and unnecessary considering the subject matter. Thanks for replying.
If Super7 survives 2025 I will be shocked. The death knell has been ringing for a while. As for Reaction…woof. I saw the gi joes at target and for just over $20 I thought, you can get some vintage joes in great shape for the same price. So who are these for?
Yea, I hate Super7 for the same reasons you do. I will remind you (in the US anyway), Palisades Toys did a very nice job releasing new Micronauts in the 90s. They've been pretty expensive for some years now
I have a number of the Palisades reproductions from the early 2000's and the quality on them is kinda hit and miss. Some of them suffer from fragile plastics which break easily. But they do very accurately mimic the look and articulation of the vintage toys. I've done several videos about these repro Micronaut toys, including some side by side comparisons with vintage Mego versions. They are pretty cool and much more true to form than anything Super 7 is offering.
I stopped buying any Super 7 when prices reached $50. 40 and 45 were already high but I was only getting a couple of figures to get remaining MOTU and Thundercats and even some Conan figures but once they reached $50, I just could not support them. My Thundercats will remain incomplete with no Wily Kat and Kit. I also think the bungled the Snake Mountain by not designing latches on the side to keep the set CLOSED. His stupid excuse was that since it was a collector piece, latches looked ugly. Try carrying that huge set without it opening up awkwardly while hoping it doesn't break. I can't even bring myself to even THINK of spending money on these React figures.
I was pretty happy with the Black Hole figures, especially after painting them, but have never been tempted by anything else by super 7. Did you get a Roboskull mk2 by the way?
So... While I'm happy we're getting some sort of "new" Micronauts. I do agree with you, the license should have gone to Mego, and if not them Hasbro, if anyone, currently Hasbro would have the money to keep a Micronauts toy line going just as they have with G.I. Joe, Transformers and Marvel Legends, but then we also have all the higher priced toys that would probably end up being exclusive on the Hasbropulse page. I'm not pleased with the way these figures look. I only own a couple of Super7 items as I am a vintage toy collector. I don't see much more coming out of this line, if anything I am betting on an Acroyear, and maybe a Time Traveler, or they may do the series 4/5 aliens just because it's so hard to get the originals (and if they weren't and someone at Super7 reads this now they have the idea to do it). I am still in debate on whether I'm gonna pick these up. I have never liked ReAction figures. I have always felt that they look like the Fisher Price Adventure People (which is fine if I wanted that, and maybe another idea for Super7, lol). The only part of me that cares is that they are "Micronauts". I felt the same way in 2002 with the Palisades Micronauts, cheaply made and a bit overpriced and we all found out how cheap some years later because a lot of these figures either end up with paint loss or just plain falling apart, but at least they tried to do it right, O ring and all. It's weird to me how my original Mego Micronauts have outlived the ones I have from Palisades. Also while the card art is nice I would have been happier with an original Micronauts artist like Michael Golden or Pat Broderick.
I had Force Commander, I loved that toy and would totally buy an updated version if it was released. Just not by Stupid7... they don't make stuff for adult collectors. The base price for a figure in Canada is $79.99 each for the Ultimate lines. Who the heck can afford to buy even a wave of figures let alone an entire series at those ridiculous prices... and their QC is garbage.
I didn't know that the Micronauts toy line was the first to use the O-ring concept. I thought that the G.I. Joe line was the first to do so considering that this was among the toy figures I've played back in the '80s.
Technically, it was the precursor Japanese Microman line by Takara ("sequel" of Henshin Cyborg, which itself was a remixed licensing of Hasbro's original GI Joe 12" line. Microman then went on to birth many different offshoot lines from which various bits were licensed later by Hasbro to form the initial wave of their Transformers line.)
I remember micronauts in the late 70s the vehicles were so modular and were the selling point of the line reintroducing micronauts with just 2 figures is ridiculous
Oh, mate, I had totally forgot! Had a weird see through cyborg figure and a pull back trike. We're about rhe same scale as the Star Wars figures, so ended up being playing with Darth Vader and the Tuscan Raider I had. Good times
I have a Baron Karza, and Mego had modified it in 1979 or 1980 so that the hands and missile in the middle of the chest did not fire. This was because kids were choking on the small parts, so the company glued the hands and missiles from being fired.
as a huge Micronauts fan who is jonesing for anything, I'll buy them. But I'm not happy about Super7 being the company that's bringing them out and I daresay you're 100% accurate on your assessment about their future.
It’s very rare that I touch anything from Super 7, the only time I have being their release of those canceled Kenner Alien figures. I don’t see me picking these up personally just because of how overpriced they are. The only way I’d see me picking up anything from them would be if they somehow got the rights to release figures from Sonic The Hedgehog (the Saturday morning cartoon, AKA SatAM).
I was stoked when I heard Micronauts were coming back & then immediately my heart was wrenched when I found out it was Super7 doing them. Also, not crazy at all about the initial offering but that's a nostalgia thing for me. I never had either of the leaders.
What do you think of these Micronauts action figures from Super7?
Definitely over priced never saw the point in buying them
They honestly-& quite literally-make no sense…
Have you seen the prices for Diaclone?
My good man, Takara, Tomy's Diaclone reboot prices will give you a heart attack.
Micronauts has plenty of 2003 and 4 figures hoarded on ebay.
Too expensive just as compared to what you could get with that same money, or just a few bucks more

I picked up Bon Scott and Phil Lynott. I am in agreement with the non oring figures being more cheesy and not as cool as the first ones from my childhood. If they did release oring versions my young son and daughter would have the whole collection!!
Creative as in what if all toys were old star wars toys? They're on their way to be the new funko pops.
@@thedeadpoolwhochuckles.6852 I think I already explained the areas I thought they demonstrated creativity in product design.
@@musicjunkeez8384 Yes - the new Takara things aren't looking like Microman or Micronauts to me, but these Super7 things do!
As an early fan of the Micronauts, I can see a point for the Super7 versions: these are actually the same size of their 1970's originals.
Yes, yes you can. They have stores that sell a lot of old toys both used and in package, micronauts are still a toy line over there.
Takara hasn’t made any new Microman since about 2007
The Godzilla super 7 reaction figures have been great. As long as these Micronaughts don't have uneven legs like most of the Gi joe and Transformers reaction figures they'll be good i think.
Palisades Toys released a Micronauts line in the early 2000s. Hasbro also had a few limited edition comic-con only figures about 10 years ago.
Yeah, Palisades released some poor quality figures in the early 2000s. Just chintzy machining with lots of problems.
The Marvel Micronauts portion is where the real money is. Remember that disco looking gal in orange? Hubba hubba! We need a 6-inch figure line!
@@genx7006marionette….yeah…
Hasbro and Marvel worked out a deal that allowed the Marvel runs of Micronauts and Rom to be reprinted last year so I'm hoping for a relaunch of at least a limited scale to be forthcoming. There's a greater likelihood of it being relegated to strictly licensing deals to other companies.
I loved both the toys and the comics when I was a kid. I am starved for ANYTHING Micronauts!
I loved the Micronauts they were far superior than the Star wars figures they were more advanced .and ahead of its time .and its about time .
@@MRaadesign The Baron Karza/Force Commander body was a 6-7" figure and Biotron was around 10" a regular figure fit upright in his chest
@@mrspeigel3593 True for the Mego line. Read what I said about the Takara line.
@MRaadesign just watched the Japanese commercial for it, looks just like what I had as a kid except maybe slight colour tint variation
@@mrspeigel3593 Good deal. Those are really fun! For really good pics, google Takara Robotman and JEEG. You will see the other bodystyles I mentioned.
ReAction is barely a step up from Funko Pops.
Funkos feel like feel a weird parody of something you enjoy, whereas ReAction feels like a cursed monkey paw wish.
Agreed. Glad someone else see's it.
I had a few of the Time Travellers as a kid - I LOVED their translucent plastic! (although they did tend to snap)
Super 7 has a couple lines of original figures.
"Slurs" do not "cheapen" an opinion. Get off your high horse. You're not in a Miss Manners contest competing for a gold star.
I'm not sure who Brian Flynn is, but I'm intrigued why you don't seem to like him very much.
Because he has flat out lied to his customers.
I'm probably the only one that really loves micronauts that I know of but they were really interesting characters the comics really really good
So looking forward to those actually
You afraid the value of yours will go down? Lol.
You win the award for dumbest comment of the day.
I was unaware of these until now. I will be buying them. If they don’t suck, I will buy MANY of them.
When Reaction got into GI Joe, I NEVER understood the point in buying figures of characters with worse articulation than the originals. This new idea of introducing O-Ring figures that were never made during the original run SHOULD be appealing, but it's Super 7, so it isn't.
I had a couple of these in the 70s. Does anyone else also remember Cyborg , Muton and Android action figures ?
The English versions of the Henshin Cyborg, line! Henshin Cyborg was the predecessor of Microman in Japan.
The Denis Fischer UK releases were only 8" like the Takata Shonen Cyborg figures, whereas the Henshin Cyborg line was 12".
I might get these two just to steal the heads for my modern Micronauts customs, which are comics-based
of course I wish MEGO would bring them back, but I jumped on these.
If I'm not mistaken, Marty Abrams sold Micronauts to Hasbro a number of years ago, so they aren't the IP holder anymore.
Nice artwork if nothing else...
Never have I bought a Super7, but have often seen them and felt a little tempted. There is always something else much more worth purchasing.
I remember they did the remade prototypes from the 1979 Kenner Alien figures. I was tempted by those. But since then, it went downhill with that brand
Going to buy them to add them with my G.I.JOE COBRA collection. I do buy a lot of SUPER 7 though so Im good with it.
I had Micronauts, I had a paper route so I had most of the collection.
For the rebirth of 'The Interchangeable World of the Micronauts', these guys don't look particularly interchangeable.
The rescaling is in line with the comic appearances, and the Biotron card references Arcturus Rann from the Marvel line. If they release figures in that vein, then we may get Rann, Bug or Marionette as well as Force Commander etc
I, for one, am interested to see where this goes next and will be purchasing these initial offerings.
Brian Flynn has flat out lied to his customers on multiple occasions but you go right ahead and get on your knees for him. It suits you.
If Micronauts were in scale w the Marvel Legends they’d be so tiny they’d be practically invisible!
I still have my Micronaut Battle cruiser from Christmas 1978 and the three figures I got 6 months before during the Australian winter of '78. I recently looked for a carded Micronaut to buy to put in a display case with them but I'd have to rob a bank for that now. But I'll have one someday...
These are actually the only super 7 figures I’m interested in owning. Other than these I pretty much think reaction figures are basically Funko pops.
I don't really like Super 7 either but gotta admit their Joe Orings are pretty cool and these look good too
Yes MEGO making some new 8 inch MICRONAUTS would have been cool. But anything that gets the MICRONAUTS back out there in the media helps. These are more for display than play. I'm shocked how negative this video is. I think these figures will sell out.
I really Love and respect your Total honesty 😀.
Your reviews of vintage toys are lovely to watch. It takes u back in time 🤩.
Thank you so much!!
They recently released the original comics in Omnibus format! Perfect timing to cash in on the figures!
I'm beginning to think Super 7 secretly hates plastic and is trying to waste it all so no one else can have any...
I think the only saving grace is if they build out the primary characters from the comics instead of just trying to replicate the original toy line.
Thank you so much for your video! I still own the original Baron Karza since childhood and had no idea what that was. In these days, I always used it as some kind of combat robot of the empire when I was playing with my Star Wars action figures.
Personally I am hoping for some of the rarer aliens like Kronos or Lobros.
Still have all my Micronauts . The Battlecruiser was a very cool toy back in the day .
I am so glad this popped up. I had a few of them in the 70s and for the life of me could not think of what they were called and now I know....
As a kid, I had the battle crusier. I didn't appreciate it then ( I had wanted an x-wing for Xmas that year)
😂
I’ll give these a try. I’ll keep them carded though. The Ken Kelly artwork is the main selling point for me. I did have some Time Travelers when they came out but ignored the line Spring of ‘78 when a certain Kenner line started hitting shelves.
I agree, I like the artwork better than the figures.
I wish they went full retro or full articulation, this halfway in between is weird
Can’t argue with that!
Mmmhhhhhh...PHOBOS is awesome, I never had it!
They've been pretty expensive for some years now
Yep, the Palisades' re-releases in the early 2000s were much better
@@RetroFettThis is the first I'm hearing Palisades Toys' Micronauts was any good....
The figures by Palisades were fun - but made with awful brittle plastic. They break every easily.
To me nothing but the ones who had them as kids, everything
If it was an exact replication I might be onboard, but not these little ones. Do the they at least have the detachable magnet arms and legs?
Yeah. Not doing Super 7.
I look forward to seeing them.
Good times
I was having a bad day... this clinches it.
I like it.
I have a Baron Karza, and Mego had modified it in 1979 or 1980 so that the hands and missile in the middle of the chest did not fire. This was because kids were choking on the small parts, so the company glued the hands and missiles from being fired.
I love the originals and have quite a few of them. They are nice in the card backs. That's about it really.
as a huge Micronauts fan who is jonesing for anything, I'll buy them.
Cant blame you…. Super7 aint the best and its funny to see them charge so much despite the quality of their figures not being worth what they charge
I have no love for Super7, but modern Mego, produces only Trash.
Subpar 7. A very fitting name.
Same as any other toy.
Are they going to be 5poa or o ring? Hard to tell in the package
O-Ring construction, 12 POA
Micronauts would have made an excellent Glyos line.
