I'm feeling suffocation even listening to this. This wasn't the hardest boss fight mechanically, but emotionally it was the toughest and I am yet to get over it.
@@metaljacket8128 The fact that I had grown to side with Abby so much by the end that I was actively hoping (as in pulling my videogame punches) as Ellie. Even recorded my gameplay for my TH-cam where I am constantly screaming at Ellie to just stop it, because I now see who Abby is and I would do the exact same if I was her (even Ellie would have) and it felt like Ellie was fighting the same battle inside her mind. So the last decision she made, had me whisper 'Thank God' under my breath - it was exactly what I would have done and that's what Ellie did as well. Just how Joel did what you were thinking back in the first game. That connection is so valuable - simply cannot be told in any other media. I'm actually curious how they pull it off in the show. You watching?
1:45 this and onwards is such a heavy, daunting instrumentation of being so lost in hate so deep it becomes deafening, all consuming of every other sense. Devoid of happiness or humanity; a bleak vicious cold gravitation of violence.
This fight was so intense. On my first play through with only the knowledge that Joel would die, I was expecting a classic revenge story, but the game managed to turn that into something else. I approached it with a fairly neutral standpoint, and I ended up genuinely liking Abby. The soundtrack that played as Ellie was drowning Abby before having let go of her just completed it for me. It’s as if it was there to really make us question “Was this really worth it?” Like a realization that Ellie had lost herself in pursuit of revenge. The innocent 14-year-old girl becoming something completely different from who she was then, even having gone as far as pulling a knife on an innocent kid who wasn’t even the same age as her from the first. Maybe at some point, Ellie finally had the realization that letting go and forgiving was the only way to move on properly. Killing Abby wouldn’t have brought her peace, seeing as how that turned out to be the case for Abby, who appeared to be the same if not worse after killing Joel, and continued to have nightmares.
This is just an opinion some of them are from my own thoughts the others are from different analysis comments from various Ellie vs Abby Final Fight videos: When Ellie sees Abby in her slaved, tortured, and malnourished state, Ellie decides it does not feel right to fight. In addition to the fact that Ellie went to California not because of revenge, but because of her PTSD (there's an interview with Neil Druckman about this). As Ellie witnesses how Abby runs straight to Lev to save him and to comfort him "I got you, I got you", you can see that Ellie wonders if this is how Joel looked like when he was saving her at the hospital. Abby tells her "There are boats this way" instead of ignoring her or threatening her, so Ellie suspects that Abby's vengeance and hatred towards Ellie, Tommy, and especially Joel are gone. However, when Ellie sees blood she has the flashback of Joel and she cannot bring herself to let Abby go. One should note that Ellie word choice of "I can't let you leave" and the tone is very shaky. If Ellie truly wanted revenge, she would have immobilized Abby by shooting her in the leg (like an eye for an eye, since it's very likely that Ellie knows Abby shot Joel in the leg) or would have said something more violent like "You're fucking dead!" like she did in the theatre. It is Ellie's PTSD and guilt that are slaving Ellie to fight. Since Abby already let all the maliciousness go, she refuses to fight Ellie. Even in the interview with Laura Bailey, she said Abby understood how Ellie felt. My take is that Abby would have let Ellie to kill her. On the contrary to what Abby suspects, Ellie is not seeking revenge; Ellie is looking for a way to escape her PTSD. Thus, Ellie threatens to kill Lev because she is so desperate; you can clearly see it in her eyes. Ellie fights Abby and barely manages to overpower her. As Ellie drowns Abby, Ellie has the flashback since the first time Ellie has killed someone, it was to save Joel from "drowning". That's why Ellie is crying. She is becoming the same person who is killing "Joel". I still don't have a clear idea what triggered Ellie to have "good" flashback, but I can assume that it's because she is nearly at the end (of her revenge, of her PTSD, of her journey, etc) which compels her to remember the final moment with Joel. "I don't think I can ever forgive you for that. But I would like to try." Abby finally becomes equal to Joel when Ellie was drowning her. So when Ellie has the flashback of her final conversation with Joel, this sentence is not only to Joel, but also to Abby (I think to herself as well; forgiving herself of wasting two years to reconcile with Joel and treating him like shit when they finally have a conversation of a sort since she figured out the truth). "Go. Just take him." For the longest time, I thought "him" meant Lev. But now I can see that "him" was referring to "Joel". Ellie is finally able to let Joel go. The one who has taken Joel from Ellie is right there. So I think this sentence truly means "Go, I can let go of my vengeance. I can move on now. I can let Joel/you go." I believe at this point. Ellie is mostly free from PTSD. One more thing left to do is to truly say good-bye to Joel. Therefore, the one last time Ellie plays the guitar and remembers the final conversation with Joel one last time. Then she leans the guitar on the wall instead of packing it back into the case (letting the guitar/Joel to be free instead of trapping it back inside). Now all Ellie has to do is to reconcile with Dina, JJ, and Tommy. Obviously Ellie's PTSD will haunt her from time to time. However, I believe that Ellie will learn how to manage it more with the help of the Jackson Community. This game is the reason why from now on, I will never let leaks to sway to me judge on something. This game is truly a masterpiece. Ps. Fuck hate content TH-camrs who earn profit by spreading hate. I just hope they realize what they're doing is below human and because of their videos, the actors, Naughty Dog staffs, and the people with different opinions are getting attacked.

Would’ve been better if Ellie: *Drowning Abby* Lev: Stop, please don’t do this Ellie: *Remembers how she begged Abby to stop* Ellie reluctantly lets go, to maintain her humanity and not take away someone else parental figure, to stop the cycle of revenge
After the events of the first game we all knew there where going to be severe consequences for Joel’s actions. He made a fateful decision and it lead to this epic confrontation between two woman who ultimately lost their fathers setting them on a collision course. Abby is moments from death and it’s as if Joel appears to Ellie in that moment to suggest “Hey baby girl this is not the way, I’m at peace”
@Harry_JJ It wouldn't work if he died in the 3rd act, at the beginning of the game the player has the same objective as Ellie which would be revenge for Joel's death, if it hadn't been for Joel who had died the game would have lost much of its impact and wouldn't make so much effect and in the middle of the game when it switches to Abby's perspective, the game asks the question: is it possible to forgive the unforgivable? The game doesn't want to make you like Abby, it just wants you to understand her side and maybe forgive her.
No because they poorly handled the character's demise They should've gave him more time and then end him off And people hate it because it shifted from father and son in an apocalypse trying to salvage there humanity in a world where you being humane means death To a revenge femme fatale story Where they try to make you sympathize with some bitch you just saw kill ur favorite character and one of the main reasons you bought the game Another one is the false advertising of naughty dog Putting joel all across every trailer swapping him with that asian guy i forgot his name People thought it was joel and Ellie hunting a group of people Not ellie and some chick hunting a group of people who one of them is a second protagonist

I mean i understand why people love the story But i just didn't like it Mostly because the game tells you revenge is bad But you just literally murdered hundreds of "innocent" (as innocent as this world allows them to be) people inclouding a pregnant woman And a shit ton of dogs
I love both characters so much and to make them fight with such raw, aggressive brutality was mentally draining. When Ellie was drowning Abby I was so tense, seeing Abby dying was so painful and especially in the state she was in, and the idea of Lev being alone. I’m glad Ellie forgave Abby, but I guess it was too little too late.
I didn't got intenshion to kill Abby, she only go to a way that she hunt Joel for revenge equal than Ellie hunt her, but Abby converted equal than Joel and Ellie, Abby and Lev, they are not of the same blood but they fight to all the dangers of the world how Joel and Ellie

Can you upload the ost where Ellie returns to the barn but everything is gone? Please that music is amazing.
I mean i understand why people love the story
But i just didn't like it
Mostly because the game tells you revenge is bad
But you just literally murdered hundreds of "innocent" (as innocent as this world allows them to be)
people inclouding a pregnant woman
And a shit ton of dogs
Please upload santa bárbara when Ellie is captured please
what's the soundtrack at 4:25 ? i'm not sure it is "unbound"
It is Unbound
I love both characters so much and to make them fight with such raw, aggressive brutality was mentally draining. When Ellie was drowning Abby I was so tense, seeing Abby dying was so painful and especially in the state she was in, and the idea of Lev being alone. I’m glad Ellie forgave Abby, but I guess it was too little too late.
What’s this actually called
I think it’s an extended version of both The Cycle Continues and Grounded
Wanted know musics name
I didn't got intenshion to kill Abby, she only go to a way that she hunt Joel for revenge equal than Ellie hunt her, but Abby converted equal than Joel and Ellie, Abby and Lev, they are not of the same blood but they fight to all the dangers of the world how Joel and Ellie
