    The new standard. This GX radio along with the XR series receivers will replace all my TBS 915mhz and happy model/jumper ecosystem. It’ll be a great addition to the TX16S.

    This is amazing! I just built my first ELRS quad after using Xfire for years and I am totally impressed with its performance! I've had the boxer since it came out and have always used my Xfire mod on back. It's so nice to shed that Xtra mod on back and even better to lose the long receiver antennas! This new hardware and ELRS dual band is very interesting for my long range setups! Thanks for keeping us informed! Love your channel!

      2nd quitter in this comment section!! To good for 50hz huh? I'll pass you at 10 miles out while your in full complete control and I'm hanging on to 50 hz feeling like my quads drunk!! 😮 Hoping XFire comes out with competing firmware soon.

      Hmmm.2.4 cannot out perform 868/900 at distance.If "bailing" from Crossfire,maybe just run the XR series on Gemini 868/900 no?
      I posted up above...love to hear your thoughts about Crossword versus DBR4,XR rx,s if theyre just on 868( NOT 2.4 which is inferior over water at low level.)

  • @Camilookb

    So far 2.4 elrs has meet all my needs. I’m pretty happy with it, even when I fly long range. Maybe when my mini talon is finished being built, I might run into a distance that might require 900mhz

    @Mads Tech Ian, how does the RF filter work with dual band? Are there really dual band filter ICs?

    • @pkendall64

      Yes, there is a dual band filter that passes low band out one pin and high band out the other.

    I remember switching to elrs from crossfire and being real happy with the antenna size after the price and availability difference. I do medium long range and don't get into situations where the 900 is needed. I totally see where people will want the duel band, but it's not something I need. The lower profile 2.4 antenna is my choice.

      Saves the manufacturer a ton of money too, which they can pass on as a price saving, or charge like everyone else and put more money in to their R&D.

    So Gemini auto switched frequencies? The multiple frequency ones you have to switch manually?

    • @pfeerick

      Gemini is same band (2.4ghz or 868/900) but two seperate frequencies for each packet for redundancy. Gemini Xrossband/GemX is dual band (i.e. transmits/receiveds on both 2.4 and 868/900 simultaneously).

    • @divingfalconfpv4602

      @pfeerick just was confused because one of the receiver says Gemini and the other receiver just says multiple frequencies

    • @pfeerick

      @@divingfalconfpv4602 I've not looked at the specs, but depending on what you order you can probably either preference antenna diversity Gemini (same band) or crossband GemX (dual band) - you're basically choosing what configuration the two antenna and RF paths are in. You would need four antenna for dual band antenna diversity (since you need two antenna for each band).

  • @PansRocks

    Flown Crossfire for 8 years , the XR1 is less than half the price of the Nano RX, other than OTA for Crossfire I'll be pressed to justify sticking with TBS going forward unless they look at their pricing of receivers. Sitting here now I'd love to see the Boxer updated with Nomand internals and that OLED from the GX12 - that would be the sweet spot for the majority of us I reckon.

  • @PiDsPagePrototypes

    XR2 looks to be the one for building sub-250g parkfly models, and the XR4 for nearly everything else, with the XR1 and XR3 being variations to apply where you want a balance between function and mass. Suggestion for content - how to apply the two UARTs in a useful manner?

  • @WilliamLee-eh6hy

    I understand that a servo wired to a receiver has a positive and negative wire for power and also a signal wire for each channel. I see the pos and neg pads on these receivers and understand each servo would be wired to them. Where are the four signal wire solder pads? Shouldn't there be a separate signal pad ... one for each channel?

    • @PothocketsFPV

      I am not too knowledgable on the subject but i dont think these recievers are for servo planes, theyre designed for quadcopters. Radiomaster makes differemt recievers with pins that are marketed for planes.

    • @AlexanderKA-i4w

      There Are plus, minus, extra and tx. They are ment to get sold to a flight Controller board. You cannot control an actuator directly.

    • @pfeerick

      These receivers are primarily meant to be used with flight controllers. The pads are power (pos and neg) and serial TX and RX (but can be configured for SBUS and maybe even two PWM outs?) If you want to control servos you want the ER series for now.

    • @jumpstartfpv

    Ian....would I be right in thinking the XR1,3,and 4 would be as good as a Crossfire Diversity Nano RX (IF) I used them in Gemini mode in 900mHz?

  • @TooBarFoo

    It all gives a easy pathway off the 2.4 and all the congestion provided I'm happy to move to a new radio. I'm just using the pocket since moving to ELRS so it's not like I have a vast investment. Just want to play with how easy it is to switch frequency per model. It's not worth long range anymore in the UK with current legal state but I would have killed for these back in the day. It's increasable just how affordable it has all become.

    Can I put dedicated frequencies antennas, one 2.4ghz and one 900mhz if I set the settings carefully on the XR4 ? I would get a bit better performance with specialized antennas. What would be the point of the DBR4 then, aside switching Gemini frequencies by software with 4 antennas.

    Thanks Ian, good overview and an interesting and well priced product offering. But I am still confused. I fly 2.4 ELRS and 900 Crossfire and I have never had range, penetration, interference or a fail safe from either one. Why would I want to buy another radio or module and new receivers at this time? Perhaps you can cover that in your next video.

    • @pfeerick

      When you are flying longer range and/or certain RF environments, this is when dual-band/crossband can become useful, as one band might go deaf, and the other still work, and then they may fade in and out differently as harmonics and conditions change. If you don't have any issues with your current setup, no need to look further though. :)

  • @teukurezas

    Does the new dual-band antenna work with the DBR4 receiver?

    • @pfeerick

      It may, but since it has four seperate antenna connections, two for 2.4ghz and two for 900mhz it would be a step backwards with that RX anyway since you have dedicated antennas for each frequency band. Dual band antennas are a compromise - you trade some performance/sensitivity for compactness.

    • @teukurezas

      @pfeerick Yeah, you're right. But I saw a reviewer in Indonesia doing a test with a Nomad and a DBR4 receiver, each using dedicated 2.4GHz and 915MHz antennas. He got an RSSI signal strength of 20-30 dBm from a distance of 4 feet. After confirming with Radiomaster, they stated that the 2.4GHz antenna is still for 2.4GHz, but the 900MHz antenna has two links: 900MHz and 2.4GHz. I don't understand if that's true or not, and whether it can actually affect the signal. I hope Ian can do the test 😅

    • @pfeerick

      @@teukurezas that sounds more like some crossed wires .. the DR4 has 4 individual antenna, whereas the NOMAD has two dual-band antenna... but we'll know more as it gets documented properly rather than having to be an ELRS dev to know what is going on 😂
