People have so many options for what they can eat yet you choose to further deplete the only food of the local wildlife and compete with them for their only food source. Did you know 1000 seals have died of starvation in the last 5 months in Kaikoura? Just been on the news.
Love your passion to sustain the marine life, I completely agree it’s important. What you’re referring to regarding the seals starving is actually in a different location 25km north of Kaikoura at the Ohau Point colony and the leading theory is that it has much more to do with the warmer water temperatures affecting fish species such as hoki which have been shown to move in marine heatwaves. From everything we’ve read, heard and seen living locally in Kaikoura fish stocks around the peninsula where we were fishing are as good as they have been in a long time, with especially high numbers of Kahawai around this season. We will definitely keep a close eye on things and be mindful of it. Thanks for sharing your view on it
Yeah those were hectors dolphins. You can tell because of the rounded dorsal fin and the small size.
