Hi TKSJA, I'm using Mikrotik RB2011 with this tutorial (also for another like block facebook with mangle rule) but he doesn't work. I don't know why. Your tutorial is also ok for RB2011 UiAS ?

This is helpful when you are "fist accessing" the domain, but if you're already with the page open it uses another "thing", I saw a lot of "googlevideo" domains in the XHR tab but even adding that string to the TLS or LAYER7 it doesn't match to mark or block it. What to do then when the youtube page is already opened?
Why in the previous video (facebook blocking) regarding blocking youtube you used for the mangle rule for Chain the "prerouting" while for this video (youtube blocking) you are suggesting the "forward" ?

Hello Sir Does the rule also block youtube when accessing it from TH-cam Application installed on Android or it only blocks users accessing it from the browser?
at firewall rule if i pick connection mark not working but if ı pick layer7 then it works.. ı cant handle it from connection mark

I have implemented your tutorial on the efficient way of blocking youtube and it works great but I have a netwok with queues. How can I block on a selected particular queue only? And leave the other?
You could set the download speed to 1bits\s or use a firewall rule to block packets with that marking.
WOW, VERY POWER FULL....but it's does not block those who use google chrome. other browsers cant access.

There are couple of other efficient ways as well:
1. Enable ip webproxy and in access option, block TH-cam URLs. Thats it. No need to redirect port 80 to 8080 because you just want to block TH-cam and not do HTTP webcaching.
2. Make static DNS entries equal to any 127.0.0.x IP for youtube URL's and dsnat port 53 towards mikrotik's own DNS so that you've remains blocked even if someone uses another DNS server IP.
Both the above mentioned ways are tested.

In Mangle rule, why did you use forward rule to block TH-cam, wheres used pre-route to block FACEBOOK?

I didn't realize, but it works just the same. Forward is prefered though.

how do you put a range of the ips to be blocked and let others not, and how to add time range?
You would have to add the source address of the users that you want to exempt and check the not box "!"

I'm from Brazil, your videos have already helped me a lot. The problem of blocking on youtube. together it blocks the other google services. would you have some way around it?
Take out the "akamaihd.net" out of the regex and see if that works.

Bro, I've tried this but it only block those connected through LAN. Mobile phones and laptops on WiFi still connect to TH-cam... How do I fix this?

I am using this method it blocks youtube and as well any web resource that mentions it in any way. This effects google , gmail and even somehow other websites. Any solution please.

How about blocking a certain client from accessing youtube.. not the whole network.
Put the ip of the client in the dst address field of the firewall rule.

That is very tricky, streaming services don't always user the same methods to stream videos.

I do it with address list and filter rules using this layer 7 protocol ^. * (www \ .youtube \ .com). * and well .. it worked in crhome well .. I had to use 2 .. the already mentioned and one for mobile devices that was this ^. * (m \ .youtube \ .com). * I do not know if you see something wrong or that can be improved
