- It's time for another Preorder Roundup. Things are about to heat up with Wonfes and Wonhobby around the corner, but before we get there we got a bunch of Anime Figures to discuss. GSC introduces a new type of Pop up Parade to many people's confusion, and I just can't help but talk about the new Taiga figure and the rocky release she had.

Sometimes when making these videos I miss details for one reason or another. Certainly I am not knowledgeable on every character or franchise featured, but also I can just be forgetful when the recording is quite long. So I'm gonna use this comment to address some quick things I've learned thanks to the comments:
The Kakegurui Pop ups: They both lack the pattern on their skirt. Such a weird detail to neglect, and a bit disappointing as a result. Didn't even cross my mind at the time.
Taiga's Purple Omber: The idea seems to be replicating the lighting/shadows from the art, but I still think it's a very poor attempt at it and looks unnatural.
Gojo: I think I gave this figure a little too much credit. I like the idea, I liked the scene from the anime, but the exact way that scene plays out isn't burned into my memory. Mainly what I realized after the fact is theres just no blood, which is odd, but also the yellow is definitely a tad harsh. I don't hate the figure though like many seem to, but that's ok.
Todoroki: I think I explained one of my points poorly. It was mostly just a joke anyway, but I saw this comment a few times so I'll just say: I know he controls both fire and ice but my impression of the figure is that he was stepping on the ground to summon ice spikes, but also the same leg was ignited, so it would melt it at the same time. Wasn't a real criticism, but also kind of a dumb comment at the same time. These proof MHA figures definitely a paint a picture of scenarios playing out in that exact moment, but hey maybe the ice was already there. Yes I'm over thinking this.

The subtlety of the Yumeko pop up actually dissuaded me from buying it.
Also, something I love about these videos is that they encourage me to buy figures, but also encourage me to think more critically about the figures I do want.
I've never been super into Kakegurui (My alliance is with Kaiji as far as gambling shows go lol) so I feel like my judgement is fairly surface level, though I never really know HOW critical I should be about Pop up parades
The artwork of Taiga CLEARLY shows that colour shift. Oo
Eh I wouldn't say clearly. Just looks like shadows casting on her hair to me. You might be right, but even so the shift is much more subtle
Damn. I really love that Alice figure. I'm a bit of a Lewis Carroll aficionado so I'm always drawn to Wonderland things and I so wish I had the money to have a collection of Alice and that would probably be the first one I'd get. The colors are muted but that really fits with the original art of the book so I think it's a nice nod to the more traditional less Disney look.
1:00:34 I absolutely love this figure, I think the colours are wonderful, just screams of that sort of quirky world, I absolutely love the aesthetic they’re going for here. The little bit of frosting on her cheek is so nice.
It look like mint and given its motif is pastry, it makes sense mint is usually used with chocolate or strawberry. I agree it looks nice
I definitely immediately preordered the Sakura. I was also expecting her to be more expensive! I could have waited but I love Sakura so lol
I'm glad the Taiga went up other places, I do want her tho currently have not preordered
I also love that Bond and Anya a little more than the Kotobukiya one I have but I will just wait to see if i can get it on sale because it's a little more than I want to spend.

39:30 Yea I love those flame effects, they look great. But those support rods are a dealbreaker for me, I hate support rods. But yea I totally agree I like that they showed us, other companies don’t show them at all and some are really bad, like the China Dress Albedo by FuRyu.

I didn't want people to kill me in the comments but I've always wondered how hard it would be to just...cut the leggings yourself if you own the original release already lol. Considering how the Taiga figures are so readily available on the aftermarket...just a thought
4:51 Yea that scale figure of her is so nice, I’m wondering if I should order it because I’ll probably like her character. I bought the first 4 volumes of the manga a year ago and still haven’t started to read it, with the release of the anime I should probably move it up the reading order list.
I am considering getting that Mt. Lady figure, just need to make sure I have space for it :)

I love Alear's design, but I'm not particularly attached to the character herself so I'll gamble on the bargain bin.
Cardcaptor Sakura is actually very impressive for the price. Highly tempting.

8:54 I think I might get this figure of Ainz, I think I can put it with my 1/8 or 1/7 Overlord figures, he should look good with them. Because the aftermarket price for that FuRyu figure of him is absolutely outrageous, I’ve seen it for over $1,600.
The comment on Taiga aged really well. Freeing actually released a bare leg bunny version of the tiger Taiga. There are now 4 figures based on the same concept, with the same character, for the exact same price lol
Couldn't help but laugh that they are already pushing bare legs tiger version. I can not imagine how these are all going to turn a profit for them
13:32 I feel exactly the same way. I don't know enough about ENSOUTOYS to gage their quality but I'm pretty sure it's not going to be even close to Amakuni level so this is going to be a pass for me. I really wish Amakuni had included Bucho-chan's sweatshirt jacket.
35:00 I think that fade to purple at the end of Taiga's hair is meant to emulate the lighting and hair receding into shadow like in the illustration. I've seen a few figures like this in the past where the end of their hair or tail suddenly shifts into a color that doesn't match or fit the rest of the motif until you look at the artwork it's based on and realize they're literally trying to incorporate the colors used in representing shadow and lighting from a 2D illustration. I don't think it works. It looks off and since we're dealing with a physical 3D version, it's entirely unnecessary as there will be natural lighting and shadow cast on it no matter where it's displayed.
39:00 The Mt. Lady sculpt and overall color looks great but they really dropped the ball on managing that pose. There's only one image among the promo pics that shows a clear plastic support rod under the knee and clearly is needed to prevent leaning/snapping over time. While not necessarily deal-breaking, it does feel a bit lazy where they could've easily solved that by having her knee resting on top of a crumbling building or something.
So many new companies are popping up lately and the reality is there's too much risk on preordering. Ensoutoy's name pops up a decent amount, but I really havent heard much great about them. Maybe I should be harsher, I dunno. I definitely nitpick in these videos, though don't like to outright shit on figures without even knowing what the final product will look like. It's tough sometimes.
As for Taiga, you're probably right, I just think it's a really poor attempt at it. Like if you're first response to seeing something is confusion, I think you've failed on your idea. I don't hate the color, but I rather them just mix in some extra shades of brown

11:51 Yea it’s such a cool figure, and I think ¥24k is extremely cheap for what you get, a full motorcycle, full 1/7 scale character and an actual environment base. There’s figures of just a plain character with plain clothes and a flat round clear base for over ¥26k.
But I don’t know this Saber, its from the game? I don’t think it’s not from any of the anime, unless it’s from Heavens Feel, I can’t remember. I’m actually rewatching all the Fate/Stay Night series at the moment, just finished Unlimited Blade Works, started the original Stay Night yesterday, I’ll probably get to Heavens Feel next week.

Still undecided on that tapestry lol. The other wedding figure had extra bonuses that felt too good to pass up on comparatively

Why are there so many figures with one missing shoe anymore? I can't say I'm very excited about any of these but I like the Kurumi on the couch that showed up on AmiAmi the same day as that Taiga. I guess that will be for February's video.
Yeah Kurumi went up on Feb 2nd I think? Taiga did as well, but only overseas, so I was aware of her release a few weeks prior. As for the shoe thing? I dunno lol. If it's done in a playful way I usually end up liking it
20:52 Zucco this figure is cheaper than the Phat Company figure right before it, and this one is far more elaborate, much better concept. So it’s definitely worth the price, especially compared to the one before.
as a Miku fan smth abt that figure is ugly to me. The colors look unappealing and remind me of furyu's tenitol line in bc of the jelly-like quality they exude

Also, I didn’t know what the original illustration looked like, but when I saw that Taiga wedding figure, I literally screamed. I had the exact opposite reaction to the bare legged, however. More of a weak “why..?” then anything else.
I think I should have also mentioned in the video that the timing on bare leg Taiga is silly because most of the time they use these figures as a pseudo rerelease but no ones asking for one of Taiga right now. Who am I to rob people of their excitement though, as I have seen some buzz about this bare leg version surprisingly
Honestly the Alear figure has me so frustrated I almost want to make a video on the absolute state of Fire Emblem figures. I love her, I love the, but the price tag is nonsensical. Seriously might do that video when I finish Persona 3 Reload. I think both St. Louis figures have their merit. I will try to get both, but I pre-ordered the Alter one because Alter doesn't miss while I don't know about elegant and I want to see if I can snipe theirs with a lower price tag or see if people have issues with theirs. I've always wanted a good 2B figure so might grab Aniplex's. The base is honestly so perfect as it feels like something straight out of the game.

I was pretty certain I was going to preorder the Taiga figure, but decided not to. I like her, but not for that price. If her price goes down a bit in the aftermarket, then maybe I will get her. Same with the Alice figure by UC. Love the design but I figure it's better to wait to see how she turns out, and I think it's likely her price will go down. Oh well, can't complain about having less preorders to worry about.
Her pricetag is hefty yeah. Because she landed on GSC and I can lock in her price at around $215 shipped(plus shes a top 5 character for me) I'm willing to preorder, but normally I'd probably wait it out too. Also I guess I have the excuse of making videos and covering the figure so there's that lol

As someone who buys every Fire Emblem figure cuz I’m a die hard fan, and preorder without fail despite price because it’s my “exception” series…I’m looking to not PO Alear.
While not a fan of engage, I don’t mind her design anymore, and genuinely like the figure’s dynamic hair and all, but IS just keeps raising those prices to a ridiculous level.
Feel I need to not order on principle at this point.
Yeah I understand that. Seen alot of people express how they want to wait for the price drop since it's so common for Fire Emblem figures. I've backed out on figures I originally planned to get as well due to the prices, though Alear dropped outta nowhere so I guess it's a little different. Still, the prices won't change if people are going to buy them anyway.
Did you PO Roys and/or Lilinas? Im so dissapointed they didnt do Roy figure as a stand alone. The pose and figure are fine but the base just ruins it because I dont want to get Lilinas as well and the prices are insane, wut like $300 each? $250 is reasonable maybe less like $200 but I think they marked it higher because its conjunction to Lilinas as both put together
@@semekiizuio I did! Honestly agree the base sizes are just ridiculous, and the fact they designed it so they don’t line up to combine the bases is so asinine.
The figures themselves came out really well I think! Lilina especially is my favorite, the fire magic effect translated really well :)
But yeah I agree, the base is way too big, and they definitely have no right to be over $200
Hey Zucco, what do you think about the Hatsune Miku Shimian Maifu figure that just went up yesterday? I know you'll probably cover it next month but man I love it. I couldn't control myself i had to preorder it immediately.
It's beautiful but probably out of my price range. Very tempting though due to her artistic design

Agreed, though really I'm just waiting for one of these companies to actually just make a school uniform figure. We have old ones, but give me something like that Kadokawa Haruhi figure from a year or two ago and I'll be very happy

Man, I've paid almost 400 bucks for the salter cuirassier in '21 because I missed the original release somehow... and ofc re-release. Ain't the first time this happens...
The high school DxD bunnies are nice--not as bunny figures, but as pole dancing figures. The pole dancing ED was very memorable but all the other pole dance figure have such weird faces. While I would preferred the outfit from the ED, bunny certainly aren't bad. Those are the only figures I plan to pick up this month.
Happens to the best of us. Just part of the hobby, just like how many of the figures I preorder end up half price eventually lol

@@AjimTheAbang if my understanding of producers vs manu's is right(AND IT TOTALLY COULD BE WRONG, PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I AM) the producer comes up with the product and plans it out, and then hands it off to the manu for actual production. So Apex would be the mind behind the prototype but the finalization is up to elegant.

i would have ordered a kakegurui pop up, if not for them forgetting/not including the skirt pattern for whatever reason. i was super hyped to finally get a figure of yumeko and then they screwed it up somehow still o(TヘTo)

What's your opinion on Guts Black Swordsman Ver. 1/7 from Medicos Entertainment? I think it looks great for that price point.

Alter let us down on that St Louis IMO, that hair sculpt looked so nice but then the paintjob is barely there.. just a solid blue, I feel like a lot of the depth gets lost. I do prefer the Elegant one, but not sure I'll do it.. not a huge fan of that dress texture tbh, but the couch is looking good.
I wonder if her hair has some translucency to it. Could explain the color
15:29 I haven't watched Steins Gate, but I know she's a popular waifu. I think regardless of it not being a massive stand out, the manufacturers are banking on the fanboys that would buy any figure of her regardless of the quality.

I really want that Sakura figure 48:35 but I just have a feeling that Kero is going to start to lean down quickly due him held by a single plexi peg. Sakura is going to start to lean down if they don’t provide support under her knee. There is just too many long term design flaws that make preordering her not reasonably with out seeing someone actually review it.
Which is so sad because this is probably one of the few Sakura figures I actually like. Most of them look really bad. And no way I’m buy a Sakura figure based on the clear card series. T^T
I think I forgot to mention this in the video but at some event show where they showed Sakura there was an acrylic block under her knees. Not the most elegant solution, but certainly will prevent the leaning. I feel like Kero chan will be light enough where that hopefully won't be an issue, but still I say just wait to see how she turns out if you are hesitant.

Ah really? I thought it was pretty, but I think I mentioned I never played engage so I'm not the intended audience. It reminded me of Pika Mikazo's artstyle enough though, which was good enough for me. Price tag is still a hurdle regardless

I do not like the smol raphtalia at all, coloring is kinda weird. The 2 smol raphtalias from bfull look better than the prisma wing one. I personally like prisma wing's large raphtalia design much more. However, after the disaster that is the 5 sisters from prisma, no way im trusting them with a preorder lol. There is also a smol raph on preorder from megahouse thats like 7.5k atm...
I don't really feel bad for Prisma Wing since they have Prime 1's main statues to keep them goin, but I think its crazy how hard they are dropping the ball on their anime figure scales

I really dislike Engage's artstyle, but that's all I'll say about that to avoid negativity. The price going up sucks cause by the time a FE character I actually want releases, it'll probably be 38k yen ☠If you can, try to play Omori, I'm pretty sure you'll love it
I hear so many mixed things about Engage. Not sure if I should play it, but there's many other Fire Emblem games I should probably try instead.
Im glad they are doing Fire Emblem figures. No i dont like this figure but Corin and Veornica look very beautiful figures. I hope they do FEH Fjorm, shes like a very central ship character in the game even though she is no longer that relevant, shes still very popular. They f up Roy figure unfortunately, otherwise I would have gone for his as well. His figure is good but the base is terrible and the price is ahuge no. The base in conjunction to Lilinas but stand alone the base looks bad.

Gojos awaken version is so baaaad lol hes not even posing correctly to the anime or to the manga. Hes suppose to make the buddha pose but when hes in the sky his back is arc foward not backwards.
Princess of the Cold Moon likes nice and would have probably gone for it if my birth year was the year of the bunny because rabbits and chinese new years are associated with the moon.
I honestly wanted to buy Roy but the exclusivity and the weird base was a big turn off.
It's funny. I guess the response to the Gojo figure is overall very negative. I suppose I wasn't being Critical enough, though I also didn't remember exactly how the scene played out so there was a bit of ignorance.
@@ZuccoFigures yeah another negative among the community is the lack of blood in Gojos clothes. For me its really the pose not either standing straight (anime) or leaning foward(manga). Even though the Sega version figure looks ridiculous I think it capture Gojo laying down floating scene quite well compared this one. (Oh I forgot about the Ichibansho figure which 100x better than this one) But no worries there just alot of figures anime mangas characters out there, hard to keep track of stuff.
