Would have done an oscilloscope video but I couldn't get all the N163 waveforms to center correctly

Why does it make me thinking to Touhou music?

some small parts of it do remind me of zun’s pc98 work a little. for me it’s two things:
      1. instrumentation - chiptuney, natch. i’ve really never used famitracker or any of its forks before (you’ll pry renoise from my cold dead hands), so i’m not sure what’s happening in the lead arp. i think i’m hearing some pwm fuckery, maybe?
      2. composition - the arps for one, the rock-inspired rhythm section for another. I also suspect that the lead arpeggio is pentatonic, because except for the fs it neatly fits into the egyptian scale. i hear pentatonic scales a lot in touhou music, possibly due to eastern influence.
also, the meter is kinda cool. i’m counting 7 beats per loop of the arp hook, maybe some sort of septuple meter? that’d also explain the arp’s scale, cause even within two repeats i think the fs are on the weak beats.

@@teyoru It is PWM fuckery, just a very crude version of it since it's on the 2A03 pulse channels. As for the main arpeggio/riff thing, it's just natural minor, but there's no b6 and Zun seems to avoid that scale degree a lot.

I wonder: If this song had any singers, what would the lyrics be?

    7/4?

Yes, the part at 3:39 is 7/8 though. I didn't really consciously distinguish between the two when composing this but they feel pretty different.

@@e__egg I'm still making music, but most of what I'm making lately is for a game project that I haven't really gone public with yet.
