Awesome series of shots Dave! The conditions were absolutely perfect for these moody frames. Especially loved the very last “ Fantasy “, stunning! Great job👍👏 Enjoy the rest of your weekend mate!
Thanks Andrew, it was a fab morning for shooting - the last image might have something to reveal on the big screen that I don't think shows up on a phone (the 'fantasy' shot!) ;)
I was so excited to watch mate, I stopped cooking the kids dinner! Wow what a magical morning for you. Fantasy stuff indeed. Image two “red” was sublime, I didn’t shoot enough myself that low in the woods. And number 3 stunning too mate. Love it love it.
Thanks so much Adrian. That shot 'Red' was in part a product of the barbed wire as I was trying to find a perspective where it wouldn't be so prominent in the shot. I had a bit of a walk around that part of the corridor before I came across the moss covered rock and thought that would work well. Really appreciate the kind feedback mate, have yourself a great week ahead
What great conditions and a cracking spot Dave - wasn’t aware of this location before watching but what a belter of a woodland . Gorgeous images and worthy of the ethereal magical mystical description . Great stuff and very enjoyable Dave 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks Andrew. Very small location, just really that walkway to explore with farmers fields surrounding. However fairly close to Monsal Head and Magpie Mine, both of which I rounded my morning out with a quick visit to. With the right conditions well worth a visit.
This is my kind of thing Dave - great video. I know what you mean about Photo Pills, it doesn't default to the current date when you open it, so easy to forget to change. Your last image was awesome, but for me 5:19 was the shot of the day. Absolute banger. 👍
Yep it’s definitely one thing I’d have changed about PHotoPills. Not overly much at this location (well not that I could see) but well worthy of a drive out to on a misty day - especially from your side of the PD and, as it’s not far from Monsall Head and Magpie Mine, its an easy double up to bulk out a morning. Thanks for watching mate 😀
Great video mate. I really enjoyed the bare bones, no bells & whistles video. Definitely gives you a sense of what it's really like to be there. Amazing conditions and beautiful, dark forest. I definitely liked the dark moody edit on the photos. I know that isn't everyone's style but I like it, and it really fit what I expect it was like in that forest. I suspect a lot of people would have really have tried to raise those shadows more, glad you didn't. Each shot was just a bit better than the last, culminating in "Fantasy"... brilliant image! For me, one of your best pure landscape videos in a while (don't take that the wrong way). Great stuff mate, really enjoyed it! Chat soon!
Funnily enough I've seen a few shots from the other photographers that were down there that morning (I follow a PD photography group on FB where they've posted) and they're all exposed quite a bit brighter. Each to their own of course, but I just never saw it like that....and I have very much reached the conclusion that I couldn't really care too much if it fits in with the norm or not - can't keep referring to photography as art and then trying to fit into a box of conformity! Thanks mate - of course not take it the wrong way - catch up soon, we'll have to arrange a call.
Some great conditions , the misty morning really adds that magical touch to the images. I also feel that lead ins generally work better left to right as thats how we read but have to say on this occasion i liked the image at 5:28 where the wall was on the right. Great looking scene that !
Thanks mate - yeah like all things photography it's rule of thumb, once I'd crossed off some of the spots for the shots due to crumbling wall, distraction etc, it became clear that the best shots would be with the wall on the right. Beautiful spot but small - that half a mile walkway then opens into a sparse field with not much else.
Whoa. You're walking through a magical forest 🤩
What a location! Amazing images, Dave. Really, really excellent work here. Bonus: your video is well paced and very informative. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Jim, really appreciate the excellent feedback

Many thanks Peter, much appreciated mate. Hope you are having a fantastic Sunday and a great week ahead.
Wonderful dreamy images Dave. Might have watch this again when I get home, I'm sure they'll look even better on a big screen.

Great moody woodland images . Keep it up !
Thanks Serge

@@LetsClickPhotography ah I know where that is now as I’ve done Monsal Trail and the mine too but never stumbled on this spot ! Cheers
