    You answered so many questions that I had! What large format printer do you have? Doesn’t it smell bad when you cut the foam? I can barely stand the smell! How do you make a stand to support the prop?

    • @AdrianasPaperCrafts
      @AdrianasPaperCrafts  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I used my Canon Pixma ix6820 for this project, but nowadays I use the Epson et8550 printer.
      It really doesn't smell as you work the way I did, which is kind of quickly. It smells more if you leave a piece of foam there to burn away. Like if a piece of foam got stuck on the hot wire and you just left it there, then yes, there is a chemically smell.

    • @AdrianasPaperCrafts
      @AdrianasPaperCrafts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I dont, but its supet easy! I cut the characters using my Cricut machine, and then after the gluing and cutting of the foam, I use my foam cutter to cut squares out. Those squares are my base. I then just glue one end of a plastic dowel into the base, and the other end into my character that I just cut out of the foam.

    Question… to make this waterproof for like outdoor decor could you use like a clear coat spray on them or does it melt the foam? Or maybe like a special glue could be used?

    • @AdrianasPaperCrafts
      @AdrianasPaperCrafts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could laminate the images before gluing them to the foam to make the images waterproof. There isn't anything that could waterproof the actual foam without melting it.

      The stands I make by just cutting out a square shape from the foam I just used for the prop. OR, some customers request the round foam, so I get those from Dollar Tree. Most customers order the base part left white, but if they want it painted, them I just use regular craft paint to paint it, and if they want it glittered, I just add glitter. Then you put a stick, straw, or plastic dowel into your character prop, and then place it into the foam base. Since everything is foam, it's pretty easy.

    • @AdrianasPaperCrafts
      @AdrianasPaperCrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately with regular project foam board, you'll just have to use a sharp box cutter or xacto knife. As long as you use a good, sharp one, it's pretty easy. The technique to use is to do 3 cuts. The first pass with the blade will be a light one. The 2nd pass is a tiny bit more pressure, and the 3rd one is pressure that cuts all the way through, in 1 fluid motion.

    Hey Adrianna, would you recommend getting both foam cutters? Or is their one you prefer more than the other?

    • @AdrianasPaperCrafts
      @AdrianasPaperCrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I personally HATE the handheld "wand" one, BUT, you will have tes that you'll need a handheld foam cutter to get into spaces that the table top for cutter can't get into. (For example, the center of the letter "o".) So yes, I do recommend getting both a table top foam cutter, and a handheld one.

      @@AdrianasPaperCrafts Perfect, thank you so much for your response! I'm so excited to start making my own props myself. One last question, is there a specific type of circuit you'd recommend?

    • @AdrianasPaperCrafts
      @AdrianasPaperCrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      At this point, I recommend the Cricut Maker (not the Maker 3. It's seriously no different than the Maker, so no sense in spending more money). The Maker has got all the kinks worked out from its predecessors, so the money for it IS worth it. HOWEVER, IF you can afford to go with Silhouette, I do recommend you do so, only because the software for Cricut machines is always messing up. I don't personally have a Silhouette, but it's because the cost wouldn't make sense since I don't use my cutting machines all that often.

    • @AdrianasPaperCrafts
      @AdrianasPaperCrafts  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So that does happen often depending on the design people request. What ends up happening is I have to sit down and forcibly create a design that WILL match. If you check out my Instagram, there are monster truck props that I had to design so that the text would match up.

    • @AdrianasPaperCrafts
      @AdrianasPaperCrafts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Print + Cut is super easy. You literally just upload your image, size it to whatever size you need it (within the sizing limits that Cricut has of course), and then send it off to be cut by your machine. Design Space will print the image out, you feed the print out into your machine, and the machine cuts the image out.
      That's how I got the cut out that I use in this video.

    • @AdrianasPaperCrafts
      @AdrianasPaperCrafts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So for anything bigger, you can either use the "large than mat" method. For that, there's a billion tutorials you can browse.
      You could send the images off to print as posters somewhere, and then hand cut them.
      OR, you can use a poster making website like blockposters.com to print at home. I've used that website in the past. It basically prints a large poster out over a span of multiple sheets of paper. Once all the pieces are printed, you go ahead and hand cut them out. Then you put all the pieces together like a puzzle. When I used that method in the past, I would glue my "puzzle" to poster boards, or foam boards, and then used them as large party stands.
      There's a few photos on my Facebook page of props where I used this method.

    Can somebody PLEASE give me a link or exact name on the foam she used?!!! I look everywhere and they all have that paperish film on top

      I get it from Lowes in the garage insulation foam aisle. There's 2 options. There's a pack of 4 long foam sheets for like $12-$13. Then they also sell 1 super huge sheet, it's like 9ft long for about the same price.

    How do you print and cut bigger images on cricut?

    • @AdrianasPaperCrafts
      @AdrianasPaperCrafts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Its called cutting "larger than mat". Its honestly very simple, but can get tedious depending on how many layers you are working with. I'll add a video for you guys soon, so be sure to check back this week for it!

    Can’t you peel the paper off from the foam board you get from Dollar Tree?

    • @AdrianasPaperCrafts
      @AdrianasPaperCrafts  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've done that, but the foam itself is sssooo thin once you peel the paper, that I dont recommend doing that.

    What kind of paper do you use for something like this?

    • @AdrianasPaperCrafts
      @AdrianasPaperCrafts  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I use cardstock half the time. Other times I use regular paper. The reason for that is because the 13x19 sized paper that I have is only 30#, so it feels like regular computer paper. If I do use that. I am just careful with the hot glue.
