I really don't understand why Perth is overlooked in favour of the eastern states by people wanting to move to Australia.
It has a great climate, lifestyle and scenery and is a great place to bring up children.
The eastern cities may have more of everything that cities can provide but Perth has a happier feel to it and we don't miss out on much in the way of entertainment.
I think our lifestyle is far more relaxed and healthier.

So very true!!! We absolutely love how family focused it is here- we cannot wait to explore some of the surrounds of WA... we feel very very blessed to be able to call this wonderful place home.

Spot on Marie - Qld is about the same as WA with lifestyle, but I to have never understood the Sydney / Melbourne attraction. For me it's too over crowded, too expensive, and the winter is far too cold for this sandgroper lol. We're spoilt for choices and options in most categories and I wouldn't permanently live anywhere else by choice. I have lived in Singapore, Greece and the USA, but nothing I've found is better than what we have right here at home. Cathy, PLEASE will go and listen to this song ? it's by an Aussie group called The Seekers, from back in the 60s and 70s, called "I am Australian" - This song puts a tear in most Australians eyes, especially those who've immigrated here. This song belongs to EVERYONE who lives here, no matter where you come from. It would be a good thing if you guys learnt the words of this song, because you'll hear it at many Australian functions, and we all sing along at the same time, so here's the link, and I hope you enjoy it. Oh, and welcome to you and your family from a fellow West Aussie th-cam.com/video/KrLTe1_9zso/w-d-xo.html

@@cathybotha You're most welcome Cathy, and I'm glad you enjoyed hearing it for the first time. If your family is ever stuck for something to do that's a cheap day out, take a drive down here to where I am, Mandurah, and have a relaxing day with a picnic on the Mandurah estuary shore, where there's a boardwalk with many places to eat looking out of the estuary, and a huge kids free playground that's fully fenced for little tots to be safe. Free bbqs on the foreshore, a fun activity park on the opposite side of the foreshore (but that's quite expensive), but you can take several different canal and estuary cruises, dolphin cruises etc that are just full of great things to see. At christmas time, the Mandurah estuary houses are all done up in lights, and you can go on the night time Christmas cruises, that are just spectacular and kids love it. Go to Mandurah cruises webpage for more info. Also you can hire out houseboats here, to cruise up n down the river for a week or two, fishing or just enjoying being on the water, with 2 couples, it can be a really affordable weekend away etc

Nice video. Thinking of moving to Perth soon. As a newcomer, what areas would you suggest for families, that is affordable and safe at the same time? Like with houses under 400k. Thanks.
