I really like this album , and I am a 49 year old woman. I really like the way she brings an 80s-90s alt-rock sound into her pop music. It appeals to people my age, and that was so smart of her. She also has an amazing voice and her lyricism is excellent. She has a great career ahead of her.
I was so happy to see "ballad of a homeschooled girl" get nominated for a Grammy. It's a great song and shows Olivia's versatility as an artist. She deserved every one of her six nominations! Also, it's so cool to see a father and daughter react to music.
officially, lacy is actually simply about jealousy. however, your theory is valid as olivia said that once she puts the song out there, she welcomes the different ways people would interpret her songs.
Not only does lacy give the dr*g metaphore, jealousy, and for people like me, bi vibes. I love that music is so relatable about manyyy different ways. So many different people can relate even if it’s not what is intended. ❤
I love how many theories I’ve heard about Lacy it just shows you how complex and mind boggling the song is. It’s my absolute favorite off the album for that reason. I really enjoyed the video. hope to see more Olivia reactions in the future from u guys 😊
some even go as far and refer to Lacy being the place holder for the allmighty pop queen Taylor Swift and her influence on young female songwriters like Olivia...
I actually really like the interpretation of Lacy! I’ve heard a few different takes on it and I kind of love songs that can be interpreted in so many ways. She apparently wrote it as a poem originally in a poetry class she took at USC.
Love your reactions , very insightful:) and honest- just proves that the album is worth a listen or more… great to hear from someone who appreciates music well. It’s nominated for Album of the Year Grammys and 5 more nominations - this album is really amazing ! Thank you Can’t wait for part 2
First time listening to Olivia Rodrigo and I accidentally clicked on your reactionary vid. But your comment of the Lacy song (drug reference) I think is spot on. The music snippet on 21:43 beginning of "bear" and 22:38 beginning of "dust" in angel dust has a very Beatles psychedelic vibe to it. I know Olivia is too young to relate, I am sure her original mindset wasn't about drugs, but I think her producer felt it and added that Beatles like psychedelic musical snippet.
the more i listen to Lacy the more I am convinced Lacy is Taylor Swift, every single line is how she feels about Taylor Swift. With their legal issues, it totally fits.
ATTENTION OLIVIA FANS!!!!!! Olivia's birthday is coming up next month on February 20th and i think it would be really nice if we all streamed Sour and Guts on her birthday as a present, like what the Swifties for Taylor's birthday! Please copy this message and spread it around!
the violent femmes reference in "bad ideal, right?"! absolutely love it, the guitar solo reminds me of jack white also. you should show violent femmes to your kids ❤ one of the best albums ever
Idk if anyone commented on this, just a popular theory is yes lacy is about jealousy, But more specifically European beauty standards, and how in this world/system white is shown as thee standard and ideal. Olivia is half Filipino
“Dazzling starlet, Bardot reincarnate….” Hi. 👋 Let me help you fit this into your drug theory lol. This “Lacy” chick could (maybe) be referring to the girl she *feels like she is* when she’s drunk or high. “Smart, sexy Lacy, I’m losing it lately”, like…(hang with me for a second)…maybe, when she is “on something” she feels like she’s this unstoppable, sharp, bright, hot chick, who *everyone* wants. & everyone loves and envies. AKA dazzling starlet, Bardot reincarnate. “…my stomach’s all in knots, you’ve got the one thing that I want…” = If only I could just get that same level of confidence, without having to be “on something”…. Hope that was coherent enough. I may have not explained it too well, but I’m onto something, I swear lol. 😅

I agree! Thanks for the comment!
@@MusicDadReacts you guys should react to their music videos instead of just the Songs

i loved ur reaction!
A lot of people said, that the album isn'y good. But hey, it's a Grammy Nominated Album, now.❤
Her first album is pretty grest as well. Different, pretty much a breakup album, but the whole thing from start to finish is great music.
I am game to give it a go!
33:29 that was such a cute moment 😂 also i really live this reaction!!! subscribed!
I'm glad you liked that joke. I almost edited it out. Thank you for subscribing!

Fun idea!
Wow that's a new theory about Lacy.
Thanks for watching!
I think if your picture was bigger than the lyrics of the song it would be better, but the video is still great. Keep it up
Thank you for the encouragement. You're right. We have some technical hurdles to overcome. Need to use a better camera.
what an interesting theory ! I love this album
Loved your reactions🫶
Thank you so much!
As a homeschooled 16 year old girl “ballad of a homeschooled girl” is WAYYYYYY too accurate😭🙏🏾 I related to every lyric
6:29 I wish you'd listened properly to the transition from track 1 to track 2. It's so good.
I will check it out. Thanks for watching!
Please react to Olivia Rodrigo's Stick Season Cover 🤩🤩
Great to see some honest generational conversation. I haven't seen the lyric videos till now. 👀
Thank you!

Oh that's interesting. Hadn't heard that before. Thank you!
So nice to chat with the USA 💞😅😅😅
I too think Lacy is about some sort of substance abuse.
💜💜💜💜
Hahah I also thought lacey was about drugs. More specifically coke when I first heard it 😂😂😂😂
❤
“Dazzling starlet, Bardot reincarnate….”
Hi. 👋
Let me help you fit this into your drug theory lol.
This “Lacy” chick could (maybe) be referring to the girl she *feels like she is* when she’s drunk or high.
“Smart, sexy Lacy, I’m losing it lately”,
like…(hang with me for a second)…maybe, when she is “on something” she feels like she’s this unstoppable, sharp, bright, hot chick, who *everyone* wants.
& everyone loves and envies.
AKA dazzling starlet, Bardot reincarnate.
“…my stomach’s all in knots, you’ve got the one thing that I want…”
=
If only I could just get that same level of confidence, without having to be “on something”….
Hope that was coherent enough. I may have not explained it too well, but I’m onto something, I swear lol. 😅
Oooh yeah. That totally works! I get where you're going with that. Nice!
BYEE WHAT IS HE TALKING ABOUTT?!?!!!! LACY IS NOT ABOUT DRUGS 😭😭😭
Subscribe for more crazy theories! AND HIT THAT LIKE BUTTON!!!!
I don’t think lacy is about drugs, I think it’s about her being envious of this other girl, even in first album she had something similar to lacy
