To be fair when they were fighting Haku, Sasuke jumped in front of Naruto and blocked the oncoming needles with his own body to save his life, and at the time both of them thought he really was going to die as a result. I think Naruto hasn't forgot about that. Sasuke was willing to die to save him. Later when they were fighting Gaara, Sasuke told Naruto to take Sakura and run away, he will stall Gaara while they escape, because he refuses to watch his "precious comrades" die in front of him ever again.
Then again, Iruka did use his back to block a giant ninja star lol how did he survive that anyway?

This arc made me love Sai soooooo much. He was such an interesting and nuanced character.
No disrespect towards Jiraya. But after 3 years of training with him, Naruto only learned the big rasengam. But look at Sasuke. He was way stronger than Naruto after timeskip.
I think that's because Jiraya was more interested in teaching Naruto life lessons than combat lessons, it's not for nothing that Jiraya is so important to Naruto not only as his teacher but also as a father figure.

For me, Early Shippuden/Hebi Sasuke was the most unique and underrated version of him, Hebi Sasuke was the perfect balance of Martial Arts like-Hand to Hand Combat (his Taijutsu was exceptional) and Swordplay CQC. A diverse range of short-medium and even some long range Fire & Lightning Powers. His Speed and his Reflex Reaction was very Insane for that specific time, The utility of the White Snake powers. Complete with a cool Vampire/Cursed like Transformation(The Cursed Seal) All along -side his 3 Tomoe Sharingan. Hebi Sasuke gave off vibes and feelings like: cool, edgy, direct, unique, intelligent, focused, determined, perceptive, no-messing, tactical, analytical, powerful. ☯️ 🤷🏻♂️✌️

Re-watching these episodes brought back the trauma of waiting every week for this to release. The pacing was the absolute worst. We spent 100 episodes watching filler only to be met with all these drawn out flashback scenes to pad for time. Seriously, what was Kishimoto even doing for the 2 whole years of fillers for them to catch up to the manga within 52 episodes with this god-awful pacing.
This arc flashback is brutal
Sasuke had sacrificed himself to save Naruto How can we ignore that?
