"He is a ship captain who arrived 3 days after his wife died. The one filming the video is his son. They asked everyone at the wake to step out of the funeral home so he can have personal time with his wife, his son and daughter, that is when he sang his heart out and his son filmed it."
I could just imagine and feel how is heart is so broken..he sang deeply in his heart..May God heal him and his children for the lost of their mother and wife
As a seafarer myself, I know just how he feels...I also lost a loved one while I was onboard. I'm in tears watching this..I can't help myself being in tears..as if things just happened yesterday. I'm so sorry for his family's loss...
This man works in a ship, he was able to come home 3 days after his wife died. He just arrived from a long trip and went straight to sing for his wife.
Filipinos are very spiritual and family oriented people. This does not surprise me. As a expat who lives in the Philippines, and I proudly call it my home. The filipino people are generally the kindest people and most respectful as well. Beautiful tribute.
This Filipino guy was really brave to sing in front of his wife's funeral. Also, your wife is correct, in our culture(Philippines)during funeral,we don't need to wear a tuxedo or Filipino national clothes, what's important to us is the presence and the sympathy of the people. I cried as well because of your wife💙
It's a last night vigil or a wake not a funeral. Most of the Filipinos are catholic I'm sure the husband would not wear those attire in attending his wife burial mass.
As a Roman Catholic in the Philippines, we only wear formal clothes in church during burial mass. It is alright for us to wear casual clothes during wakes.
Yes we Filipino were not accustomed to wear formal tuxedo during funerals. Wearing black or white shirt is enough. The important thing is we gather all the family, relatives and friends for the wake.
I read their child’s reply somewhere. Apparently tatay (we call old man as a sign of respect) is a seafarer, capt. He was onboard when his wife died and only got to see her on the 3rd day aftr she dies after he got repatriated and her remains was brought to her hometown. Then he sang her the song right after . Its the wake. Not funeral
My 81 year old father sang to my mom at her funeral here in California. He sang in our Ilocano dialect the song he wrote about her. It was a surprise to us, the family, but glad that he mustered the strength to do it. I remember him singing that song to her when she was still in the hospital and maybe in a few other occasions. I just wish that my American friends at the funeral understood the lyrics of the song because it was a beautiful tribute to her. 2 years later, Dad passed on and I can imagine them singing together in heaven.
I thought i'm brave enough to watch this but then my eyes begun watery and tears fell in my cheeks unknowingly..this rendition of this song hits so hard due the way he sings...its like every words cuts through the hearts of anyone who hears it...we can feel what he feels...what a great singer indeed
I’ve not heard this song before, and I don’t think I could hear it differently without always hearing this man singing it. It’s beautiful, and it’s heartbreaking. Very hard not to cry.
According to the story, this man is a seafarer. Wife fell ill while he was away. He was waiting to come home to her, but she did not make it. She was unable to wait for him. She died without him there. This is his final tribute to her whom he loved so much. He held it all in according to the relatives. RIP to her. Truly sad yet amazing all the same. May God's grace guide him and may her soul rest in peace.
I have read from other comments: this man works overseas like in a ship, and went back home for his wife's funeral. He asked all the visitors, friends, etc to leave the room for a short moment for his privacy,so to sing a song for his wife for the last time in this lifetime. The one recording was his son.
we sometimes do that at a funeral here in the Philippines. Music plays a big role in our culture and most Filipinos know how to sing. It's in our blood and culture when we are courting a woman, we call it "Harana", on special occasions, worshipping in church, even in times of sorrow, etc... It's how we Filipinos express our emotions through singing.
This man singing for his dear late wife happened during the viewing not on the day of the funeral like judging what the husband wears he just arrived from overseas because he was a ship captain. A lot of reactors from YT asked why the husband isn't wearing a formal attire ie. tuxedo or Filipino national dress for men. This is heartbreaking to watch knowing a family man like this working overseas away from his family and then going home only to find out his wife passed away!
He is a captain of a ship abroad. His wife already been dead for three days.. After arriving at the airport in the Philippines, he went directly to his dearest wife without changing to a formal clothing.
I couldn't imagine how painful it is to him going home just seeing his wife inside a coffin. I could feel that he really loves his wife that much to render that heartbreaking song

First time ive seen this video 2 weeks ago, i am freaking crying out alone, and i cant take it...kudos to this, its typical for filipinos to have a funeral having this grand with flowers..we filipinos just wear casual clothes and just being comfortable but on the last day of the wake ,we usually wear whites or black to give respect to the deceased family..
Cried like a river whenever i watch this vid. Yes, we Filipinos are so emotional that we express our feelings through songs.?..We are family oriented citizen and we love every member of our family as much as we love ourself. By the way, we filipinos doesn’t need to dress up for the wake or funeral. We wear what we want and that’s okey.
In every time that i am watching this video man i am definitely heart breaking. And this reaction video of a queen, I'm not pretending not to cry because she feels too much emotioned in it. But the one who sings is a sailor man and a captain in a ship. That's what I'd read from the comments before. And I thank you too through your reactions and a heart breaking moments of our queen that i am say sorry for that. Have a good day guys.
it's customary that Family members stays in the funeral parlor for the duration of the wake over several nights to welcome and receive guests who would give their farewells to the deceased. And we ordinary Filipinos don't dress in coats or tuxedos, sometimes we put on our traditional formal wear which is the Barong only during the burial of our loved ones.
From the first day they met,he probably sang her a song, all throughout that marriage,it's just fitting that he will sing her one last song,on the last day he will see her.
Hes a ship captain working away from his family and wife.. this is so heartbreaking 💔 He just poured out his emotions and expressed love to her wife.. He came home 3 days after her wife passed. 😢
We Filipinos convey our feelings through singing, even in the event in our times of our loved one's funeral. We are not dressed in tuxedos; just comfortable clothes will do. Besides, this is not getting views on social media because it differs from how we mourn. I really cried my heart out. It is a fact of life that we all must endure and experience. Condolence to his family.
I am a Filipino also and I'm proud to be a filipino.one of the very brave people are pilipino.thank you both of you for sharing a Filipino video like this.
We Filipinos express our emotion thru singing..we courted girls thru singing..we sing in churches. We sing during festivities, occasions, celebrations and etc. maybe he endure singing till the end of his song because he is brave and his emotion is controlled because he is an overseas filipino worker, used to stay apart from his family. Mostly ofw are away from their family for years or so just working abroad for his family..that's why he is emotionally brave.
The song title is “How can you heal a broken heart” by Chris Walker..but i doubt i’ll hear Chris Walker anymore after hear this man’s voice. The sadness poured in just one song. I bet his wife heard every lyric, felt his every breath and see every tears. May her soul be in peace 🙏🙏🙏
This been in the news, i didn't had a courage to watch it full... was so heavy, couldn't control my tears😢.. couldnt comprehend the pain feeling by that man
I closed my eyes listening this song... Its make me cry like a baby.. the song got the soul and emotional farewell from the bottom of his heart like the husband never sing a song on his entire life

Yes. And normally, it takes 7 days to make sure that all family members, relatives and friends are able to come and bid farewell 😢
Oh wow!
You are correct..
It's one way of comforting oneself while grieving.
From the first day they met,he probably sang her a song, all throughout that marriage,it's just fitting that he will sing her one last song,on the last day he will see her.
😭😭😭
This hits home, I lost the love of my life to cancer in 2010 and I still miss her every day.
Hes a ship captain working away from his family and wife.. this is so heartbreaking 💔 He just poured out his emotions and expressed love to her wife.. He came home 3 days after her wife passed. 😢
You two are the best! Hang in there Taylor…you’re an emotional inspiration!
♥️♥️♥️
We Filipinos convey our feelings through singing, even in the event in our times of our loved one's funeral. We are not dressed in tuxedos; just comfortable clothes will do. Besides, this is not getting views on social media because it differs from how we mourn. I really cried my heart out. It is a fact of life that we all must endure and experience. Condolence to his family.
I am a Filipino also and I'm proud to be a filipino.one of the very brave people are pilipino.thank you both of you for sharing a Filipino video like this.
I’m surprised he can sing so well despite what he’s feeling. Must be he’s way of saying goodbye
Exactly… I wouldn’t be able to sing if I were sad.
Mostly ofw are away from their family for years or so just working abroad for his family..that's why he is emotionally brave.
you can literally feel that he' s singing his whole heart out ❤️😭

Extremely heartbreaking, I Every single word of the song is emotive. I can't hold my tears.
As long as we are still with the ones we love in life, let's make them feel the unconditional love.
