I’ve had my Sun Joe for about four years, and I’m still blown away by how much material it pulls out of the lawn. Such an amazing and affordable lawn tool.

Preparing to do this to my parents small fescue sodded lawn that is being invaded by Bermuda. Good to know that scarifier won't rip it up too severely as feared by parents. Gonna over seed with Water saver RTF. Also going to start Fusillade treatments in spring for Bermuda. Good video!!

I also have 100% PRG and I plan on overseeing with KBG. Which KBG seed did you choose?

Doing this tomorrow. Did you scalp lawn first & then scarify? And for picking up the debris how low of setting on the lawn mower?

Yes I scalped first, i believe HOC was 1.5 inches. And for debris pick up I raised it to 2 inches to create a better vacuum.

The Sun Joe IS NOT a scarifier it is a “verticutter”. It puts cuts into the surface. The detritus that appears as the Sun Joe passes is the material lifted up by the vertical tynes but that is not dethatching. Grass grows ON TOP of the thatch layer. You can not remove the thatch without removing the lawn. The only way you can actually remove thatch is to scarify the lawn with a rotary mower.

KBG is going to be too shaded by the existing grass. Only chance you've got at getting it to grow is to cut the surrounding grass really low and use some growth regulator on it. Maybe use a manual reel mower to keep it low enough not to shade out the seedlings.

Really, you needed your dads help for such a small yard?
