  • Hi everyone, in this video I try to explain the topic that most people have trouble with when barely starting to grow their plants, and that's how and when to water. One thing I forgot to mention in the video is during colder months, the water takes longer to evaporate out of the soil, so you'll find that it takes longer for the plants to be watered, and that's okay, the plants can handle it and actually do not need water that much during colder months as their metabolic processes slow down during winter. I hope you enjoy the video!

    Great video with lots of info thanks. Do these plants need to be watered or not when during the winter dormant stage?

      Good question! It depends on your climate, but here in Southern California, I just let the winter storms do all the watering.

      @@cactiman3282 That's understandable. So I take it if plants are in greenhouse where under shelter that to continue watering but obviously not leaving roots left wet

    What I've noticed is when the plant is fruiting, it intakes a bit more water. Being in SB county as well, my fruit is doing great with past month's weather(rain fall and hot temps).

    Does dragon fruit only start flowering when the branches grow down/around the trellis ? The downwards growth makes it flower?

      Dragon fruit grow flowers when they have enough vegetative growth, so the more your dragon fruit weighs, the higher the chances of getting flowers. Other factors are involved, and it is possible to have flowers on very small plants, but vegetative mass is generally the most important factor. 🐉

    Do you grow four(1 on each side of the post) per pot?

    • @cactiman3282
      @cactiman3282  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes sir! I grow one variety per side of the trellis, so 4 different plants per pot.

    4 galons for a single pot?
    isn't that too much?

    • @cactiman3282
      @cactiman3282  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No amount of water, as a single factor, is too much. What usually causes problems is for the soil to be too wet for too long. I found at the time that 4 gallons for my 20 gallon pot every 3 weeks or so was perfect for me. Happy growing 🐲
