Just bought my first Citizen watch, a 2020 promaster automatic full lume limited edition. I bought it as a present for my father's Birthday which gonna fall within the next 2 weeks.
But after seeing all the details and fine craftsmanship of this beautiful Citizen watch and experiencing the full lume dial at nighttime, I just don't think I can be apart from my precious anymore.
I think I'll keep it for myself and use it as a desk clock and just look at it when I'm working. It's just so elegantly understated and beautiful. I have no choice but to buy another Citizen automatic promaster as a gift to my father. Might have to eat a month of ramen to survive till next paycheck. But to me, it's definitely worth it.

I do believe that Citizen was the first to put the ND limits on the band. I have one of the original ProMaster Aqualands from the early 90's and it had them. Also N.D. stands for "no decompression", not "no dive", meaning that's how long you can stay at that depth and come straight to the surface without stopping along the way to do a decompression stop. However, the numbers on the band are from the original US Navy frogman dive tables from the 1950's, and are antiquated AF, so anyone who actually dives using "Navy tables" bottom times for reference should probably go back to dive school! I just bought the NY0155-58X with the black steel bracelet, that is one badass watch, do a review on that one... It hacks! Cheers!!!

The NY0040 automatic with white lume dial has been my go to daily watch for a long time 🍭
I also have a weak spot for the brand Orient.. some beautiful stuff they've done

This has got to be one of the coolest models Citizen make. I'd buy it in a snap if it could be made similar but eco drive, but probably not due to the face's lack of light transparency? But who knows, still worth getting! I'm sure one can read books at night by this watch!

Not really, its ONLY glow up after you put it near to the light source, other than that, i can barely see the dial at night, most ppl review this one miss leading the fans.

Congrats in aquiring the Fugu! Great review! I've owned an Ecozilla since 2019 but I've always fancied the full lume Fugu. In my honest opinion, Citizen is one of the most underrated brands. Cheers!🤙

Good Video, Great looking watch, The lume is fantastic! I liked the description of the color as 'goblin bile' .. nearly spit out my morning coffee hahah.. Also really liked that you enumerated your tick boxes, always good to get insight into the watch obsessives process. great stuff.. Citizens are awesome, Seiko has lost it's way, 3x price for unaligned pieces.. makes Citizen the obvious choice. Comment on the crown at 8, I wear my watches on the right but the 8 has always bugged me.. go figure haha.. Thanks again.

I purchased the white dial. Perfect summer watch and my first automatic. Very impressed with the quality.

Literally just bought one of these 20 mins ago. Spotted one from a collection and knee jerk bought it. I was looking for it's smaller NY0040-09W brother when I spotted it. Still going to get the 09W Full Lume though.

@@thetimebombardier I do like a bigger watch with a bit of weight on my wrist, something I know is there. Not much size difference between the 09W and the 19X but I'll keep you posted when I have both. Def right about the watch being a bit nontac but I'm retired from service so it's not an issue. Even managed to come away with my G10 Pulsar I signed for back in 2009 lol no I didn't steal it and yes I was billed for it when I left the Army. A perk for looking after those who look after me kind of deal. I have a small collection of 30 odd watches but they all get worn at some point nothing expensive tho. My most expensive is a Casio Mudmaster GWG-1000 at £500 odd new but unworn. Not the most comfy watch I might add.

It is every bit as amazing as I thought it would be!! But I'm currently on a hunt to find a new strap, not supersold on the black rubber one it came with as I already have the ecozilla with such a strap
And the lume is soooo insane, it's like a torch

Just got my hand on one, beautiful and sleek watch, the lume only glow up after you shin the watch to the light, so dont be scare if you walk in the restaurant 😄.

All a bit confusing, as I've always associated Polywatch with an over-priced (but apparently effective) scratch removal product.. I do like the fish though! :)

It's a very nice model. For that price though Citizen should've put a 9105 movt. in the FUGU.

Doxa was the first to have ND scale back in the 1960's...they put it on the bezel.

Hi have you experienced the white dial and is there any contrast in the hands and dial.
As the hands are silver it looks like it would be hard to read at a glance.

@@thetimebombardier hi mate thanks. I’m thinking of getting the green dial but here that the lume blends with the hands and can be hard to differentiate later in the dark.
@@TheZanshen roger that and yes the green is great fun but i get it's not everyone's brew!! i think the new size over the previous versions really makes this sit better on wrist, if the white does't work then you have the pepsi or the blue/black,

I've the white one for about 3 months now, legibility seems fine in most situations for myself; the lume is strong and I really like how it lits up the stark white dial... Definitely a solid watch and if you're into white dials, I think it can't go wrong.
