Hey, everyone! It's been a long time since we've done basically a direct update for the audience on GN in general. We tend to just focus on making the hardware/reviews content these days (with occasional pieces just for fun), but rarely do the old-school style updates on what we're trying to do. A lot of that is because we have more ability these days to realize those goals, so we try to just pursue them -- but it's nice to go back to roots and have a more dedicated discussion of "here's what we want to do and here's what we enjoy." The mini-site was just kind of a good excuse to make this video. It's also nice to put the ethics & ad statements down somewhere permanent, because it's hard to find the old videos discussing those things since they're so buried. Ultimately, agree or disagree, our main goal is that it's all out there and transparent so you know where we stand. The mini-site was really fun to build and, although we hope it doesn't require many additions to the Catastrophic Failure List, we do greatly enjoy that style of testing and can't wait to do more! Until then, it's back to reviews! FAILURE LIST: gamers.nexus/failure-list
You all have been helping me build systems for years now. Thank you to everyone at GN for being honest and reliable and providing the masses with some of the best hardware reviews and problem summaries possible. Can't wait to see what these next steps bring!
how do you make this paid "supper comment"? I've done super-chat messages before, in live streams... But I want to send GN a super-comment like this... Can't find any button that looks like what I want to do!
@@todorkolev7565 *It's not a button. Look at line below the title, then look to the right. At end is three black dots, arrayed either vertical or horizontal. Tap the three black dots and a menu drops down, "$Thanks" is top of list. Cheers!*
GN continuing to lead the way, a huge thanks to the GN team for the hard work! The mini site is ideal for people like me that bounce in and out of the tech sphere every few years. Finally, I/we have a single point of reference for what’s going on at a given point in time and more importantly, who’s on Steve’s shit list and what they did lol
@@kboussa So true. Unfortunately, stuff like that doesn't exist in the general business world =(. I'd work for Steve if I could instead of working for the crummy IT company that hired me for minimum wage in an extremely expensive area...(without any raises allowed)
As someone who works a SEM tool in one of the "Team [Colour]" semiconductor companies, can confirm that SEM tools are almost always not in the budget. Would be really cool to see some of our work under the lens of the Gamers Nexus team.
It's so weird to think you started 15 years ago... In 2008. Keep fighting the good fight for the consumer, and congrats on your continued growth and success, GN Team!

@@BBWahoo Where the people are respected above money, that's not capitalism, though. Capitalism, as the name conveys quite overtly, prioritizes material desires over personal well-being. There's just a giant and very silly fairytale woven about how the promotion of selfishness benefits everybody.
@@Dowlphin The only definition is “An economic system where the means of production are privately owned”. Capitalism is an Amoral system. It’s definition does not define intent or desire. A generous company creating products to help people and a greedy company that does nothing but screw people over are equally capitalist
@@Dowlphin You've been taught a very warped, very wrong view of capitalism. The simplest definition of capitalism is an economic system where ownership is private instead of state-owned. Anything beyond that is the failures of individuals, which can and do happen - particularly in unregulated markets or when the methods of restraint (regulations and oversight) are captured by the very companies they are intended to oversee and existing laws are left unenforced or are enforced unevenly.
@@KenrilZ No, you are lacking homework and reduce capitalism to the most convenient, tiny and most neutral aspect. Many of the things you and others call the good, the 'real' properties of capitalism are actually things that were established through bloody socialist struggle, like said market regulation. Before that there was basically robber barons running the show and working people to death, and of course with slavery as its extreme - the theft of people, among other forms of theft. So this is part of the ideological cringe: That apparently capitalism only 'works' if there is constant pushback by socialist principles to reign it in. But at the same time staunchly capitalist libertarians badmouth things like market regulation as communist evil. This is the immature clown show of the USA. One would have to study the history of the USA and maybe read some Marx to see how predictable and obvious everything is. Should you eventually decide to pursue enlightenment instead of tribalist comfort, it is helpful to first read an article "Mike Davis on the Crimes of Socialism and Capitalism" (no endorsement of Jacobin by me, though) and then the (online) book "Settlers - The Mythology of the White Proletariat", a thorough historical and sociological study written by a Japanese immigrant.
Amazing stuff as usual. Really appreciate y'alls contributions to accountability and product quality in this space that's so often rife with rumor and tribal knowledge. I love the idea behind the new website! I would love to see it possibly grow one day into something more. My first thought when you began talking about the idea is that it would be amazing to have user profiles on the site. Users could create profiles with PC builds and attach part numbers. If there was to be an issue with any of the parts in your build, say six months, a year, two years, etc. down the line, the user would receive an email letting them know of a potential issue. Similar to how car recalls are handled. That would be a ton of work, no doubt, but the end result would be really cool imo. Anyway, hope y'all read this and keep up the amazing work!
Wow, I really appreciate the hard work that went into generating and defining the vision for the company/channel and the effort to create a website detailing the practices, ethics, mistakes/corrections, etc. The transparency and objectivity are both unparalleled and appreciated.
I really enjoyed this update! I know I haven't commented as much as I used to, but I still watch every video, still working in the industry and still find you guys to be the gold standard in reporting. Love to see you guys continue to grow! P.S. Long Live Tech Jesus and Ocular Moses!
Extremely important distinctions there, to doing the right thing for the wrong reasons or the wrong thing for the right reasons, which works like basic math.
I hope they're willing to look back a generation too. A lot of people stuck with AM4 because they were specifically worried about early adoption/bleeding edge issues, myself included. But that doesn't leave me feeling very relaxed, because I'm currently running an ASUS B550 board. Were the Zen4 chips exploding because ASUS made a boo-boo? Or were they falsfying and juicing their voltages on purpose, in order to make their boards appear more stable at "lower" voltages than the other board partners? If that happens to be the case, then it's highly likely that they did it with last gen as well. And if it's more widespread than ASUS, this could actually be one of those dirty secrets among motherboard manufacturers. Hoo boy, this could be a real shitshow.
@@pirojfmifhghek566 It wouldn't be the first time a manufacturer did such sleazy cheat moves to tweak benchmark results. To a degree is is also the responsibility of consumers driving a competitive highscore craze. Although, it is also just the whole capitalist system under it, because if everybody agreed to not care about overclocking, then the businesses would try to find something else to differentiate themselves with and compete against each other. Basically: Don't cheer for war and then expect no blood spilled.
9:59 And that is partly why I was willing to pay the high price for a Fractal Torrent case for my build. I didn't need the size, but I love the design, and also wanted to show my support for a company that did failure recovery properly. It's just too bad that now that I can afford to upgrade my GPU, EVGA has stopped making them.
I had dealt with Fractal’s customer service before. Really nice experience. They seems to be ran by engineers or at least worked closely with engineering. Talks openly and straight to the point.
@@thunderboltlightning6010 The one time I contacted their support because I broke the power switch of my Define R4 case, they didn't only send me a replacement switch but a complete front assembly. Because of this, and this exchange alone I've purchased multiple Fractal cases for friend's PC builds.
Hell yeah, fam, right with you on that one. *Actual* after-sales support is rarer than tits on a god damn bull these days, so anyone who does it properly deserves recognition for it.
I came for the reviews, stayed for the news, but most of all; I can't think of another line that rhymes so here's 10 bucks. On a serious note - your ethics deserve the highest praise as you truly have your audience's interests at heart. And I'm sure it's not just Steve, this applies to the whole team.
Maybe failures like the Samsung 980 firmware kerfuffle should also be listed in the failure list. If someone doesn't keep up actively but does check the list every now and then, they can see even those failures/issues that have gotten a fix without a 3 part series and 20 minute Steve rant.
Actually, that particular issue was a fair bit bigger than most seem to realize. Pretty much every SSD model Samsung made in the first half of 2021 (though not every capacity) was affected... 870 EVOs (1 TB and up), 970 EVO Plus' (larger sizes) and 980 PROs. It's as if upon receiving praise for their outstanding reliability, they promptly dropped the ball super hard...
Ever since becoming a PC build enthusiast in 2019-2020.. This has been my #1 go to place for reviews and hardcore information Thank you Steve and Gamers Nexus Crew for being as objective as you can be even if it may hurt the feelings of some brands or brand loyalists Your videos allow me to keep informed and help others who are less informed. Thank you for all that you do.
Steve, i hope you are aware of how much we appreciate all the work you do! love all the deep dives and specialized content. imo gamers nexus is the leading hw journalism site and does so much for the community!
Thank you GN. A lot of us dont live in the more wealthier countries. So a new computer is a big investment especially given pricing that is 30% up of msrp because of import duties etc. And we also dont get as much attention from Manufacturers as the advanced markets. A lot of claims from manufacturers are just that "Claims". It is really usefull and warns us off manufacturers who cant be trusted anywhere. I bough Artic fans etc basically because of your recommendations. And they are awesome!
Steve, I've only recently started following all your content. I've enjoyed some of the reviews over the years, but in the last year, you guys taking the fight to the companies by pointing out their flaws has been game-changing. Independent people who are genuine and distribute information to us peasants for the betterment of our lives is something that words cannot thank you enough. In the day and age where our wallets have less spending power by the day, having brilliant people like you who give us the information to make educated decisions on how to spend our money is a breath of fresh air, truly. I wish your company all the greatest success and again, thank you for what you do.
GN is on fire right now!!! You guys are absolutely killing it. The respect I have for you all is top drawer. Your coverage, transparency, relevance et al of all things PC related is amazing. Watch every video you post and enjoy watching them immensely. Thanks Steve and the team. Stay awesome!!
Your company’s focus and vision to mainly protect consumers, and in a way while exposing flaws protecting manufacturers from lawsuits is great for all involved. The companies showcased get a chance to show their solutions to problems while addressing them, and consumers decide where to put their money based on the practices shown by the companies showcased. Finally, Thank you GN crew! you all are a great well of information that continues to grow and it is easy to tell that everyone on the team loves using their skills to show problems with computer hardware and software in order to protect others and their investments. It’s something really special you all have working and have built over the years. To many more.
I agree, but only if there is commentary from GN on the manufacturers response. If it is just a link with no further comments from GN, it could look like an endorsement even when that response is garbage.
I personally don't think that's necessary. Once someone discovers there's a problem with a component in their PC, it would be pretty easy to find more information.
You guys do bonkers tests that put to the forefront edge test cases that could actually catch an end-use case, and I applaud you for it. I have personally never experienced any of the weird failures you highlight SPECIFICALLY because I avoid those edge cases. That means so much not only to me, but probably to the general PC building community. Keep doing what you're doing, and I like the consolidation of your information. I hope it becomes easy to digest. I will be purchasing some of your GN products (your mats and other exceptional tools for system building assistance) soon to support your endeavors as it's meant a lot to me and has probably helped innumerable consumers. Thanks for all you've done and will continue to do!
Thanks for the amazing work you do! I really hope the channel becomes even more successful and also to bring more and more companies into the spotlight to improve the hardware community hobby
I'm fairly new to the channel (october / november 2022), came accross videos of yours while moving to a new build after 7+ years of not caring about PC hardware news at all. Your content has now got me hooked on keeping myself up to date on all this, even though I'm not sure I'll be buying parts for the next 5 years. Your content is refreshing, and as someone trying to grow a business, you ethics are an example and a goal I'm aiming for. Long live GN !
Mate, you are an absolute bloody legend. Been here since og wallmart pc teardowns. Love that you don't compromise your ethics. Also love that you want to stay hands on!
It's hard to believe I'm one of the "old fans" that remembers when GN was run out of a bedroom. Other than technical improvements and capabilities, I can absolutely say the quality and convictions for this channel have been rock solid for all these years. A huge inspiration for me as a new business owner. I love GN. :)
I think I've learned more about how computers and computer components work from GN than from anything else, and I love that you guys are dedicated to the deep dives on things when it makes sense. Your focus on transparency in reviews really helps with not only sponsorship feeling fair, but also means we can easily figure out what is actually relevant to our needs or use case. Keep up the great work and I hope you can do some dumb, fun stuff soon.
The channel has gotten so big and successful (in my opinion) largely due to GN's integrity. You all do extremely well at everything you do and are always looking to improve, while being open and honest the entire time. You don't just stop when things are "good enough".
I waited 2 weeks for decent quality fans without rgb, it was kinda hard to get 5 of these and it so hilarously sad picture of whole industry. I dont want rgb. You dont want rgb? No . Ok than no offer for you . ... like fucking comunists bslack in time xd
I built my 1st PC, P-90 several years ago. Then I went the laptop route, but grew tired of burning those up so, last fall I decided to build another desktop. Jayz and GN, were my 2 primary sources for hard data and info. In Nov, I ordered my parts, after having chosen to go the AM4 route vs the new AM5 build. 5800X3D on an NZXT N7 MB. (white build). With the recent events around the AM5 board/chip issues...I'm REALLY glad I went with the previous gen for the build. TY Steve, for what you, and your crew do. The info, is HIGHLY appreciated.
Thank you for your tireless efforts to at least somewhat level the playing field between consumers and big tech companies. The ASUS/AMD CPU barbecue coverage was immensively powerful and it seems ASUS have completely reversed their stance on EXPO and warranty (see their press releases yesterday). My only worry is that the more high-profile you become, the more you might be in danger of being "sued into the ground" by some big tech /&§%&/$§. Have you thought about a legal defense fund?
Even if a brand is really good eight now, you still should treat is as an entity that is potentially out to screw you over. Otherwise you let your guard down, and all of a sudden 10 years have passed and the brand and products have turned to complete shit because people still defend the decade old image. I see it a lot in the car community where people will shit on the better product and defend the bad one like their life depends on it just because A was more reliable than B in the 80s.
This right here is why many of us not just highly respect GN, we also highly value GN's hardwork and contributions in the tech space. Wishing you Steve and all the incredibly hardworking, talented staff at GN a long and prosperous future.
Well done GN in not taking on any kind of Sponsor that people throw at you, Manscaped, Nord VPN etc etc, they do my head in them types of sponsors, its good you have kept your integrity! Love the channel guys! Take care 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I Bought the Hyte Y40, thanks Steve! lol Actually, it doesnt run too hot for my system. New website is a brilliant source of important info. Appreciate yall.
Don't undersell your channel, Steve. I haven't built a new PC in more than 10 years, but I still follow this channel religiously. I'm the family technologist, who is generally expected to have answers to tech questions (and provide tech support, of course). That capability has saved me from a lot of family drama over the years, which has real value to me. That's why my keyboard currently rests on a certain blue Mouse Mat. If my wife and I ever reach escape velocity for the doom spiral our finances have been in (yay US healthcare 🙄), I have my eyes on a Mod Mat, among other things. Thanks for the awesome channel, and keep finding awesome ways to part us from our money. 👍
With regards to you commenting how the written portion of the site means a lot to you, one thing I think is missing that would be *super useful* to have in writing for me personally would be a singular place on the site where I can get the most up to date comparison of GN's benchmarks for CPUs but *especially* GPUs, with bonus points for having historical comparisons too (I know your testing standards have changed over the years and so on but sometimes making a connection between massive GPU generation gaps is extremely helpful to demonstrate to people). It has *actually happened* to me IRL no less than four times by this point over the span of about a year that someone has directly asked me to compare their GPU to the current market in terms of performance. Now I keep a reasonable handle on how well the last couple of generations of GPUs have performed relative to eachother, but let me tell you that I do *not* keep a mental note of how well an RX 580 performed. I *especially* don't keep a note of how it does against say a 3070, and sure I can kind of spitball it by working backwards, but I have actively gone out of my way to look up GN resources to refresh my basis of comparison so I could get a decent idea. Each time it has been kind of awkward and I have had to google my way around different GN videos and I've personally found my self *really* wishing for a centralised place on your site where I can just look up the info in text, I even went there to look the first time.
GN is directly responsible for giving me both the interest and confidence to build my first pc. The technical focus of a channel not afraid to include walls of product performance stats while incorporating real-world user considerations was so effective that my first-ever build was done while drinking a sixxer of tall boys without error. Furthermore I bought the GN driver set on the whim that it might ease the build assembly process, which they did in a sublime fashion. After watching their content for several years now, I have an even better sense of which brands and products to invest in for future upgrade/build purchases. The fanhood sentiment is such that days were spent pining for a realistic way to move locally during their most recent staff hiring sequence.
Predictably. It's the decay of a global empire that distinctly admires the Roman example. As a spiritual teacher I emphasize this crucial bit of understanding: *Fear makes stupid.* Also: Truth can only be known when put to the test.
Automotive industry guy here, can confirm. Also gun guy here, can confirm. Music is doin pretty good these days though if you ignore all the usual top-10 people (like how you should anyway).
I'd just like to say THANK YOU. I ended up building my PC with parts that you reported have catastrophic failures. This was *just* before your report came out, unfortunately, so I'm sticking with it. (reference: Asus TUF X670E-PLUS Wifi MOBO with AMD 7800X3D). What I'm thanking you for is allowing me to be informed and prevent these catastrophic failures from happening by informing me of what settings are safe to set in the BIOS, and my new PC, which I hope will last a long time (my upgrade cycle is crazy long at 8-10 years), is running pretty.
Steve is the PC/gaming equivalent to savagegeese in car reviews. Both relentlessly anti-corruption and where compromises seem inevitable, they are communicated openly. A recent thought of mine on this: _"Those who talk at length about external things but reveal very little about their own inner state are to be mistrusted, for they fail at the ultimate test of courage."_
Amazing video: hugely helpful to learn about the Ethics Statements through this kind of formalization, as well as having them all together in a nice place that can be searched for in the future. Concrete example: this demonstrates that your corrections in the 13900 case were in line with your own Corrections policy, which implicitly explains why the method of correction you ended up with was chosen (even if the top comment didn't fully do this). Visibility of these policies was indeed quite a problem, so now that they're all nicely centralized it makes for easy referencing of these policies in any corrections notes in the future as well (which will give us a nice reminder of their existence and you an excuse to tell someone to RTFM :-) ). This kind of video goes a long way in demonstrating that Gamers Nexus practices what it preaches, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who absolutely appreciates you're holding the channel to the same high moral standards as you're holding those companies that get a guest appearance in 'GN court'. :D Hats off, and it's really amazing to see updates like this one!
*Mr. Burke: 1> This video should be prominently featured on your channel page such that every new visitor views it first* *2> Your "Shill Shack" bit brought me here. Then spent four hours scanning your other offerings.* *3> Also visited Gamers Nexus. Your Metrology Lab is impressive. Even more impressive is your uncompromising Ethics policies *which are clearly in action everywhere one looks.* *4> The Benjie was just a taste. You will have my continued $upport. More importantly, you have my respect. Cheers!*
I think one of the intangibles that keeps Gamers Nexus current and keeps me, at least, coming back for more content is Steve's ethics, and by extension those of the whole team. It's really gratifying in this era to find someone who puts character and honor before pelf.
Just letting you know, I would personally LOVE having written articles/content on the GN website in addition to videos. It can be much more practical in certain situations, and offer more searching versatility compared to TH-cam search. I'm super glad you're working on it, just letting you know it'd be of great help to some people!
The former accurately reproduced the bugs of the latter, though, so I don't see how it works better. Also, were GPUs back then not million dollar R&D products? (And we could also bring inflation into this.)
@@Dowlphin start bringing inflation into gpu pricing and you’ll see that today’s prices are insane! But to the same to processors and you’ll se they became pretty cheap. There where times where a cpu easily was thrice the price of a gpu and people bought them..
@@rolux4853 Yeah, I recently wondered whether people are examining the strange phenomenon on GPUs, where tech downscaling is a natural development, yet graphics cards become bigger, hotter, heavier. To me this is an expression of the great power that can be attained through video gaming entertainment, in part due to how much we rely on the visual sense. It's basically like a monster (Diamond or not, hah) getting hooked on superficial spectacle to lure prey in. As for CPU prices, besides the almost always present large pricing scale between models, it has seen ups and downs from what I remember. In the far past there were times when CPUs were all kinda dirt-cheap but also phases where anything potent was very expensive.
I'm astonished at how much more technical you and your team has gotten over the years. It's pretty mind blowing how much you have learned and have been able to teach us. It's very gratifying to witness you couple that knowledge with honesty, integrity and a true willingness to stay connected to the community. Also, I love your hair. Please don't ever be tempted to cut it. It's epic.
I am very happy to hear you going back to updating the website more frequently. I usually watch your content for many of the components and various other things you have tested over the years but when I went to build I always used your website instead, because I could just find one your charts and since you keep such good up to date data it helped greatly. Very exciting indeed.
You guys are absolutely awesome. This is just next level professional. Thank you so much for everything you've done for the community and I can't wait to see what keeps coming! Basically... Thanks, Steve! And the team 💖
In the name of ARCTIC, I would also like to thank the PC builders community to have been extremely supportive when we faced that issue. We were worried that this issue would lead to our brand being demolished by the community but we nonetheless had to inform about the issue so that it could be fixed. We were then extremely glad to see that you guys have been awesomely understanding. Thank you.
There are very few "trusted" review sites remaining, the loss of JohnnyGuru still stings. Keep up your unimpeachable work. Also go tell EVGA to make an AMD board that doesnt set on fire :) My Crosshair extreme is currently being used as a glorified paperweight.
They don't need to be budget, but as long as they have one that's reasonably priced I'm fully in support of building a rig with as much EVGA gear as it can fit. Heard nothing but great things in recent years. Never had one of their power supplies fail on me. Haven't had the pleasure of using any other parts, but after watching that deep dive GN did I'd really like to. They looked really passionate about what they do.
I imagine an EVGA AMD card could even have pushed many people to buy one even though they don't really need it; as a kind of damn-nice-to-have and maybe also an unconventional type of crowdfunding push.
It's good to see a media outlet that cares for the consumer. Your points about advertising was really important, and it's one of those things I that we need to remember is so important. The line that is the "separation between church and state" - content and advertisments - has only been blurred more and more as we move on, and it's great to see an outlet demarcate these boundaries so clearly and so publically. Thank you for your amazing work!
Criticism/suggestion on the failure report list: Depending on how you want to organize the "Resolved to GN's Standards" column, would it be better to use a simple "yes" or "no"? The "eventually" seems too vague without explanation. How long? Was it in bad faith? etc. If you stick to using "eventually", I think a link to a brief explanation would be a good idea. (just for "eventually", not "yes" or "no" just to clarify) I know the links to the video reports are really helpful here, but a tl;dw would be nice for those who don't want to watch every detail beyond the implications of "eventually". Love the update and thanks for continuing the hard work!
We have supplied findings to the US Consumer Protection & Safety Commission (CPSC) on a few occasions, yes. They were the ones who stepped in to make NZXT act more seriously.
This comes across as a clear message that you are putting these companies, that are asking a LOT of money and trust from their customers, on a thorough and constant audit and I love it.
Thanks for doing this. Bought a liquid freezer II when I did my current build on the GN recommendation and found out about the potential issue from your site. Mine's not affected but super happy to hear Arctic responded so well in handling the issue.
This is something I usually only see scientists do, test and document. It might be good to include a 3rd party supporting video that shows their testing and their results. This way it's harder to accuse you of breaking the tech
Big fan of the transparency you have, (not just with this video but all of them), regarding GN and the mission statement. GN's got the know-how and the ethics I admire in reviews and journalism.
I would not be surprised if this were true. I work in automotive product development and we experienced similar engineering headcount reductions which have resulted in substantial workload increases for those still with the company. It’s pure shitshow status in some corners of the company, including mine.
Keep in mind also that many products were designed and/or manufactured in a pandemic/post-pandemic era of work-from-home or return-to-work difficulties, labor issues, supply disruptions, and resulting parts substitutions at manufacturing and product levels. I'm actually pretty surprised we haven't seen more widespread failures, but I think that speaks to some level of resilience and (often underappreciated) hard work from a lot of dedicated people. Not to excuse bad products, of course, but the times we live in do account for some of the issues. Companies that don't have the ability to pass on increasing prices (inflation) of components that they use in a product may also be tempted to "cheap out" and cut corners.
Well, WoW became a bugfest (worse than random noname private servers), bugs are known by them, yet it is not fixed in months. There are constant downtimes, multiple times per week and not even a sorry, no gametime extension for having an unplayable game for 5-6 days/month, nothing. Now you can play DF for free for a while... but you actually need to sub. I mean what's next? Free test drive for cars but you have to buy wheels for it first? So yes, layoffs cause unfinished garbage products with shitty support and poor development. But hey, at least the big dicks of the companies can smoke crack on a yacht.
Thanks guys, really appreciate the transparency and that you don't just do things the way everyone else does without asking if there's a better way. 20 years ago I couldn't even have dreamed we'd one day see hardware journalism on this level.
I like Fractal, they seems genuinely care. A few years back I had a glass side panel exploded on me. While waiting on the replacement panel, I decided to make an acrylic one just for fun. So I sent an email to them asking for measurements of that peculiar panel, the next day I received the detailed engineering drawings of that case and a message which basically says ”we normally don’t do this but here you go, enjoy”. It’s rare these days to see a company this open that they sent drawings of their current product to some random dude from internet. And also good to know their customer service people works closely with engineers. If instead it was Dell, none of that will ever happen, I would get an Indian dude talking in circles.
As a person who can assimilate info by reading much faster than you could reasonably transmit info in a video, I'm very glad to hear the text stuff is coming back, and this new initiative is also such a big help for folks like me who like to pop in and out of the tech space.
The direction you want to go with your content seems great I personally love the failure analysis content and think it’s good for people who know what they’re doing and also people that are new and can know what to expect from their products and possible failures they could have and your evga factory tour was great as well super sick seeing them do those in house repairs and seeing things that most people don’t see everyday
Greatly looking forward to a return of written articles from GN! I do enjoy all the video reviews, but it's also very nice if I want to go back and check on a particular product, if I can just scroll through a site real quick to get to the core info without having to find a video and then scrub through it to find the pertinent charts. Great work as always!
Go look at the last digital foundry episode. Spoiler, it seems to have power managment problems that seem to be bios related. Richard noted that it gets lower performance when the power cable is plugged in for some reason. It sounds like a bad joke but sadly it's not. Peace
@@PerpetuallyTiredMusician I just looked for that video, all I can find is a talking heads video where they say "The review is coming, but its about 1% better than the steam deck." When did they release the video that says that? Answered this many times. We will be making progress as soon as we can. Our team is currently inundated. It took us 2+ years to review a PSU after showing our equipment. Will be similar here.

Miss these old updates! I've never regretted subscribing to GN. Your guys passion and commitment to your ethos is admirable and rare in the tech/YT industry.
this minisite is such a great idea tbh, having information easily accessible is very important and the system you all made for this in such a short time seems perfect, especially the newsletters, will sign up to that one for sure and i never do that lol Loved the ethics and transparency updates and info about how gamers nexus operates, im glad that the company growing didnt mean becoming less human and more corporate and that getting a bigger following didn't corrupt any of the ethics, you all are doing amazing work and im very glad it's going so well for you. Also the sponsors segment was very interesting, i completely agree with your take on this tbh, wish more people were as mindful about this as you because i see many people just not care and do ads about anything and we all end up having to skip 1-3 minute segments on every video and it feels very wrong.
Root cause analysis with good reporting is sorely needed. Great job!
Good tack!

This Channel’s success is a great example of “do the right thing for the right reason, good things happen.”
Maybe failures like the Samsung 980 firmware kerfuffle should also be listed in the failure list. If someone doesn't keep up actively but does check the list every now and then, they can see even those failures/issues that have gotten a fix without a 3 part series and 20 minute Steve rant.

A suggestion: the failure list should include links to any statements or responses (or citing a lack thereof) made by the manufacturer for an issue

Yeah, a User Benchmark-like comparison thing that isn'T.. .well, User Benchmark even sucks too hard for a joke...

It's epic.
Thank you to the GN crew for all the years of work.
Danke!
Thanks for all the work you guys do.
I am very happy to hear you going back to updating the website more frequently. I usually watch your content for many of the components and various other things you have tested over the years but when I went to build I always used your website instead, because I could just find one your charts and since you keep such good up to date data it helped greatly. Very exciting indeed.
You know when “oh, it’s on fire” is the default reaction, that the issue is getting out of hand
You guys are absolutely awesome. This is just next level professional. Thank you so much for everything you've done for the community and I can't wait to see what keeps coming! Over the last year or so all of the recruiting, the new equipment, the new premises, it all feels like it's been leading to something, and it's so cool to see you forging ahead like this and so excited about it, too. Basically... Thanks, Steve! And the team 💖
What you do is vital for consumer's, thank you for providing balanced factual information.
Thanks GN team for all y’all do 💙
Criticism/suggestion on the failure report list:
Depending on how you want to organize the "Resolved to GN's Standards" column, would it be better to use a simple "yes" or "no"? The "eventually" seems too vague without explanation. How long? Was it in bad faith? etc.
If you stick to using "eventually", I think a link to a brief explanation would be a good idea. (just for "eventually", not "yes" or "no" just to clarify)
I know the links to the video reports are really helpful here, but a tl;dw would be nice for those who don't want to watch every detail beyond the implications of "eventually".
Love the update and thanks for continuing the hard work!
Do you supply findings to the Standards Association or others?
We have supplied findings to the US Consumer Protection & Safety Commission (CPSC) on a few occasions, yes. They were the ones who stepped in to make NZXT act more seriously.
This comes across as a clear message that you are putting these companies, that are asking a LOT of money and trust from their customers, on a thorough and constant audit and I love it.
GN growth is incredible. Congrats Steve the failure analysis has come so far since the Xbox;)
Could failures be related to recent layoffs in tech companies?
I would not be surprised if this were true. I work in automotive product development and we experienced similar engineering headcount reductions which have resulted in substantial workload increases for those still with the company. It’s pure shitshow status in some corners of the company, including mine.
No, only because us, stupid sheeple, keep buying.
There are no other excuses for companies employing thousands of workers.
No.
Dark mode on your website would be great.
I stopped watching 2 men cook an alligator for this
Love your content GN~
Ive had alligator meat before, it's really nice actually
By any chance joshua weissman?
Papa no kiss.
@@hugevibez Joshua Weissman dropped an awesome video with Guga Foods on cooking alligator
@@xxDEAGORxx always remember to salt your tomatoes and papa kiss
Greatly looking forward to a return of written articles from GN! I do enjoy all the video reviews, but it's also very nice if I want to go back and check on a particular product, if I can just scroll through a site real quick to get to the core info without having to find a video and then scrub through it to find the pertinent charts.
Great work as always!
I can't wait for a full video on the Asus ROG ally!
In the Talking heads video, all he noted was he received different bench marks at home than in his office, and the second talking head said "I wonder if this is suffering form the Bios issue Asus is having?" and he said "it's possible".
I've been following you since you had about 300k subs.
it's been an amazing ride, watching the channel grow, the 1mln mark, an now the 2 mlns.
GN has set the standard for quality content.
What ever happened to that fan testing machine?
Answered this many times. We will be making progress as soon as we can. Our team is currently inundated. It took us 2+ years to review a PSU after showing our equipment. Will be similar here.
@@GamersNexus Thanks for the update. Looking forward to it.
Thank you for doing the consolidation and including a change log! I've been sharing your content directly to impacted friends and family so this makes things so much easier! 😎
All these testing has given Steve gray hair 😅
Miss these old updates! I've never regretted subscribing to GN. Your guys passion and commitment to your ethos is admirable and rare in the tech/YT industry.
game companies: increase price to $70
also game companies: release games in broken state
Customers: Still buys them for some stupid reason.
Releasing games in a broken state is a time honored tradition that is nearly as old as video games themselves!
this minisite is such a great idea tbh, having information easily accessible is very important and the system you all made for this in such a short time seems perfect, especially the newsletters, will sign up to that one for sure and i never do that lol
Loved the ethics and transparency updates and info about how gamers nexus operates, im glad that the company growing didnt mean becoming less human and more corporate and that getting a bigger following didn't corrupt any of the ethics, you all are doing amazing work and im very glad it's going so well for you.
Also the sponsors segment was very interesting, i completely agree with your take on this tbh, wish more people were as mindful about this as you because i see many people just not care and do ads about anything and we all end up having to skip 1-3 minute segments on every video and it feels very wrong.
