@@niceguy1891 Det är mer än Pickelhuvan. Chile hade en svensk officer Alfredo Schönmeyhr från Göta regemente som tillsammans med Emil Körner moderniserade Chilenska armen efter preussik/svensk bild i början på 1900 talet.

Det finns svenska uniformsinslag/marschmusik i chilensk armen , tex Eriksson marsch (Petersburger marsch), Schwedische Reitermarsch, Victorias Präsentiermarsch (F.d Svenska/Tyska regementsmarschen i Stettin)
I served with the swedes in the Congo in UNTSO in the Middle East in the Lebanon and in Central America and in Cyprus and I have nothing but good memories .Great soldiers and lovely people.Those were the days.

No I did not,I meant Central America.We were stationed in 5 countries,Hondouras,(HQ),Guatemela,Costa Rica, Nicarauga,and El Salvador.We were an observer mission with posts deployed in all the countries.It was an all officer mission with personell from Spain Ireland Colombia Canada Venezuela Sweden Brazil India Argentina ,who were naval people ,they had armed Patrol boats and were used for close coastal observation ,and interdiction.Spain and Canada provided the FC and the DFC .Air support was provided by a Heli group from the Canadian Defence Forces and a flight of 4 Aulouettes from the Argentine.The force also had a Dornier light passenger AC supplied by the German Goverenment.Medical support was by the German Order of Malta and consisted of Doctors and Nurses,who did Trojan work for both the force and the civilian population.One of of the tasks given to the force was disarming the Contras and for that a battalion from Venezuala was attached to the force . Administration was in the capable hands of the UN Field Service,who are masters of this task.I hope this info is useful to you both,and I did not forget too much as it is almost 30 years ago,and I am feeling the March of time.
Yes they are welltrained for UN operations etc. But how trained is Swedish Army for hard blitzkrig= thunder war? Tiny infantry reserves no compulsory armed service and no artillery for ground forces. Short of at least 20 divisions if meaning is wage war in all areas in Sweden. Navy and Air Force are exellent but without g.i. and mortairs arty engineers Sweden is soon occupied. Outside NATO/OTAN.
Today the focus lays on Guerilla Warfare. Small agile groups well equipped attacking from behind enemy lines. As we speak we are slowly but surely rebuilding the once powerful Swedish Armed forces. A third brigade is during setup ( to compare with around 32 brigades mid 90ths) .
Back then 900 000 men in uniform ( all branches included) + aprx 1,600 000 reserve ( Fit men from the age 16 to 60 ).

The fact that people don’t know history well enough to know that the prussian style originates from Swedish army discipline (because Sweden was a great power and owned most of the lands that later became Prussia) is disturbing. Gebhard von Blücher for example fought in the Swedish army before he joined the Prussian one. So we have influenced each other, sure, but the origin of the style seen in the video is Sweden, not Prussia.

@@carpetclimber4027 The Spiked Helmets (Pickelhauben) and uniforms were copied from the German/Prussian Army en vogue after its victory over the French in the 1870/71 War. The same goes for the cavalry helmets!

The Swedish and Chilean military are heavily influenced by Prussian military traditions. In fact they and countless other countries based their armed forces on Prussian military traditions. In reality the same could be said of the Bundeswehr but post WW2 the allies even outlawed the use of the term "Prussia" in an attempt to justify and hide the ethnic cleansing of 14 million German-Prussians from Eastern Germany 1945-1951. Despite this the Iron Cross and Eagle of the Bundeswehr are actually Prussian but any Prussian heritage is understated and its Prussian roots seldom mentioned.
Borussia Germania I know. Three countries defined what we know today as a modern military. The Roman Empire, the British Empire and Prussia.

From a historically point of view, that banner is actually the real flag of Sweden. The squarish one Sweden has today is the civilian version of that flag because the 3-pointed flag belongs to the royal family. There was a 2-pointed flag as well that was used by the merchant fleet but nowadays they use the squarish one. But i agree. The 3-pointed one is really nice.

Well, literally all these pictures were taken during the wedding of of crown princess. We usually never have any parades otherwise sadly. At least on the national day we could gather a few thousand in my oppinion but that also seems far-fetched.

I remember I 17 in Uddevalla one of the brigade regiments we could mobilise 2 brigades plus a number of battallions in one week we were marching through the city times were very tense Soviet had prepared the invasion we had one million under weapons and one million in the second line the worlds 4 th airforce plus a fleet and costal defence with great force. We were very motivated food in great stocks a total defence system and a population very well informed. Good memories!
