I like how Provo doesn't let the big franchises in. The selection and diversity that you get from "mom and pop" shops and restaurants is so worth it. Love the new format and new faces in your vids! Also that fitness center sounds like a great deal at those prices!
Thanks! We also love the fact that there aren't any major international restaurants in Provo because you can get those experiences almost anywhere else in the world. The uniqueness of one-off entrepreneurial efforts is one of the things that makes this island special. Wrightfully Fit has two locations on the island. While this one - within walking distance of Grace Bay beach - was a traditional gym with all of the expected equipment, the other one is dedicated to boxing. They also have a good selection of T-shirts with their own branding. Wish they'd get the grey muscle shirts back in stock!! And although we didn't explain in the video, the ladies are Heather and Tara, our dear travel friends from the US who will likely pop up from time to time as we travel the world (sometimes) with them and other friends we also met in Provo.

Guys you did an awesome and very accurate job of who we are and what we offer in Turks. I can tell that you definitely talked with the locals to get true facts about our islands. Like when you spoke of the crime and how most of the time it's the haitian immigrants that come on the sloops. In fact we are actually the minority in our country now as their are more of every other nationality than indigenous Turks and Caicos Islanders. Haitian immigrants have the largest population group on island, followed by dominicans, filipinos, jamaicans, europeans and north americans. So it's a high probability that when you are talking to someone from the island they are not an indigenous Turks and Caicos Islander. We love Canadians there because you guys are so respectful and friendly towards the locals and embrace our culture. I might be a bit biased as I currently live in the GTA (Durham region) and my wife is Canadian lol. I go back home now and then to see my parents and I also have a business there. As for the franchises you are right we dont have them, except for the new Outback Steakhouse and a lonnnnng time ago we had a KFC and it was located literally in the complex right next door to where Sweet T's is. The place is now called Rosie's delight but it used to be a KFC .It didnt last because we kept adding things to the menu like conch fritters or peas and rice etc. lol and KFC pulled the franchise license from them. Anyway once again an amazing job describing our little island paradise! One last thing the cars beeping at you are an unregistered taxi service (called jitneys) and they are predominantly ran by haitian immigrants who most of the time have no insurance and sometimes invalid drivers licenses. Locals who can't afford to buy their own vehicles or pay for expensive licensed taxis use them. Definitely not recommended for our tourist and guest! The government has recently created a new ride share service called community cabs that is a registered government program and all drivers have to be fully licensed and driver newer model vehicles just like Uber! The service will cost between $3-7 to get around the island!

Funny, it didn't survive in a city near us - Whitby - for very long. Jitneys ... we've not come across that term, so thanks for letting us know the proper terminology. Love the new community cabs idea!!! This is going to be a great boon to the locals - and certainly other options to taxis were desperately needed. I know there used to be a bus that went around the island at one point, but that disappeared. $3-$7 is absolutely fair, one-way, and I'm glad people now have a great way to get to the Thursday Fish Fry, or music night on Wednesdays at Da Conch Shack, or even to snorkel at Smith Reef, catch the ferry etc. While renting a car is still a good option, driving on the left is a non-starter for some people, as is the expense. We'd love to live in Provo as well - only a short flight to Miami if you crave a big city for a short while. If you have $1M you can become a permanent resident of Turks and Caicos, though all political parties are looking at ways to make retiring there easier than it is currently.
