I have 2 fluval FX6 canisters on my 125 and I will never go back to a sump!
I love to hear this! I've just got my first canister coming in but I've never hsd a sump before and felt like I needed one
Howd it end up working for you? @@rajgill7576
The old marineland magnum 350s were AWESOME for helping clear customers tanks when we did Maintenace in the 90s. Wish they still made those honestly.
Can be used for vacuuming substrate without siphoning water out.
Yeah a great vacumcleaner for the sump as well 👍🏻
Dude! Never thought about that!
Dude has the biggest brain
GREEEEEAT IDEA!!!!!!!! 👌
😂 Why didn't I had this same idea?! Thank you man
I ran a Fluval canister filter paired with two large power heads on my 55g FOWLR tank for 25 yrs.
I now use that same filter on a small nano cube with the return house directly in the display. My back chambers only have bio balls. The water in that tank is crystal clear all the time. Plus it’s easy to clean.
I was contemplating buying a small canister filter for water polishing on my larger tank and maybe filling it half marine pure bio balls and 1/2 floss.
Was using a Tidal 55 on a 35 Gal reef tank it was alright…
Purchased the Fluval 207 and I am very happy. Silent, good adjustable flow and my water hasn’t been so clear. Oh… and it was cheap too.
P.S. Aesthetics are important since it is visible in the living room.
Heck, they ROCK for any kinda tank there is out there!!
I’ve done it and still doing it right now no problems as long as you keep up with your husbandry skills everything will be fine 🔥
What a good cannister for 250 gal saltwater tank
Thomas always gets a 👍
I have used my whale 350 as a polisher and carbon reactor many times. I like to do it about every six months. I also do a big water change, vacuum the sand and blow the rocks when the whale is on. This saves my reef mats roll and eliminates odors like no other.
Then what would be a good canister filter for FLUVAL evo 13.5 saltwater tank? Is for additional filtration...
If the electricity are off, water will be go out from canister ?
Why no fine filter pad
What’s the best nano canister filter for a 10 gallon nano reef ?
I would do the seachem tidal hang on back filter s
Fluval canisters are great.
Pls HELP? SICCE WHALE 350 OR AQUAEL ULTRA 1200!?! Same price! What is beter???????Thx!!!
I’m thinking of using my FX6 on my soon to be 75 gallon reef tank as my main filtration. What do you think? And you said no fine polishing pads in it? Why not?
Try the topfin 120 or 200. They have wifi control and are half price. Excellent value.
@@johnnymotorboat8824 the reviews are horrible
@@mattktaylor what if i do maintenance on it twice a month? Then can I use a polishing pad ya think?
@@johns8249 I think that would be just fine!
@@mattktaylor thanks!
Lol I have a 172 gph canister filter for my 20 long so far I love it.
Is Protein skimmer is mandatory for Marine Nano tank?
It’s not mandatory, surely helps but you can have success without one
well that turns the saltwater hobby on it's head........LOL :)
Estarei comprando um reator de chaetomorpha para junto com os 2 canisters
I have had two canister filters for years and they are a pain in the ass to clean. They are heavy and bulky. If you do go the cansiter route, I recommend taking some polishing floss and rubber-banding it around the intake of the canister filter to help keep it cleaner.
I will run a canister for biomedia, and aquaclear for polishing
Thank you for the tip!
Also can become a nitrate factory if not cleaned out regularly
Whatever system
That’s a user error, not the product itself. If you do regular maintenance on the canister filter, it won’t turn into a nitrate factory. Only if you neglect it will it become one.
You can run two smaller canisters and just alternate cleaning them. Plus they are super easy to disconnect the hoses and carry the entire canister to a sink and work area.
I have used eheim 2217 for over 30 years on reef tanks about time u at bulkreef caught up !!!!
What media do you use and what size tank?
Why no fine filter pads??? Did I hear that right? If solo canister, expand on comment “no fine filter pads”?
But if just canister don't go to wash that like freshwater
"and # 561 , okay it's not even the cool factor.…...but , .... meh "
no its a good idea
I run canister as a media reactor I put in carbon and filter floss only
I love canister filters, but adding carbon to your canister filter is a recipe for way too much maintenance. After opening it up after only a week to replace it, you'll realize the mistake you made.
