    Hey! Your daughters hair is gorgeous. However I would highly recommend you to not leave conditioner on your baby’s hair for a week or even overnight. Please follow the directions on the bottle. Scientifically, conditioner will not add any extra benefits to your hair if you leave it in for long periods, instead, it could leave to hair weathering and moisture overload. Coming from a place of love. I want your baby’s hair to continue to thrive ❤️. Also, detangling her hair dry with a lightweight oil prior to shampooing will significantly reduce tangles post shampoo.

      YES, leaving the conditioner for too long is bad. It can do more harm than good to the hair. Moisture overload equals dryness, equals breakage.

    Okay I'm gonna say it because I have followed this channel for a long while n watched this journey. We CANNOT skip past the condition of the child's head in the beginning. Few years now the baby has been blamed for this due to "tender headedness". Actually it's a lack of proper care. Applying a relaxer is not a solution to this problem. Natural hair is actually more resilient so without a proper regime it's just gonna come out .

    If you're a licensed cosmetology, leaving deep conditioner in the hair overnight WILL CAUSE DAMAGE over time. This method of "over conditioning" can cause HYGRAL FATIGUE overtime. If you don't believe it, do the research.

    Beautiful hair! Coming from a tender headed 4c perspective, I always felt like people were angry because they had to do my thick coarse hair. They would yank my head around and over process my hair and it always burned my scalp but still never get straight enough to their satisfaction. Damaged at that! I shaved my head for a while but learned how to deal with my hair myself. I learned how to not hurt myself obviously but there are times when my scalp is sore from detangling. All this straightening isn't for me. It really is torture and other people can't feel your pain

    Try a blow dry brush! (NOT the round brush one.) Sometimes a reg blow dryer and brush can be harsh and painful and tangle and snag the hair easily. With a blow dry brush it’s just a brush that blows air. Start at the ends and go towards the root. Very easy and painless if you detangle before hand like you did in this video. Her hair is always beautiful in every stage!
    Also I don’t understand the need for hot combs honestly. They are just extra damage for no reason LOL. Especially if you sweat in your scalp anyway. Just a regular flat iron does just fine and gets at the roots just fine lol. You just have to do small enough parts. I am a new flatiron natural and have VERY kinky pattern in the back of my head.

    Ok, sorry I could be wrong but from this video, it looks like you don’t handle detangling her hair with care. You’re combing from the ends and not holding sections with your hand at the root then detangling. It just looks like you’re raking thru her hair from the ends. If she sweats and her roots “puff up”, more care is needed in detangling by working from the root out to the ends, but grasping sections so you can detangle less aggressively 😮. From my experience and from watching other moms who have daughters with thick/curly/tangle-prone hair, this is what I’ve seen work well. Now, it might be that the pace of the video being sped up contributes to my perception that you’re being a bit too aggressive. All that said, I certainly must leave your detangling to your discretion 🤷🏾‍♀️. Apologies if I’m all wrong.

    I am not a license cosmetologist, nor do I claim to be one. But I have done a lot of heads in my days.
    I have done french braiding, french braiding with beads. I have done relaxers, extentions, curly perms, and just hair in general.
    I can so relate to your daughter being tender headed. At 57 years of age, I am still tender headed.
    But, I think your daughter would have benefited more, if you would have left the relaxer on longer. I understand that YOU wanted the fullness, and you got what you wanted, but how did Sydney benefit from it? She's still crying.
    Now you just gave her a bad experience with a relaxer. When it was suppose to be a bonding moment between the both of you. But I think your baby girl got the raw end of the deal.
    I didn't like watching her cry. I know, I could have scrolled on by. But I wanted to see her enjoy this experience, and I wanted to see her hair silk pressed.

    • @timekabolden5309
      @timekabolden5309 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Exactly. She said the opposite of this. And exactly how u explained the bonding and benefits is how she said it. So it just wasted the point of what it was supposedly for. So basically she has a tender headed daughter that needs new helpful techniques to make it easier to comb...without chemicals. 😭

    Funny how much your relationship with her reminds me of my mom and I growing up. I was so tender headed and hated touching my hair. I would have my curls in a bun for weeks just to avoid styling. My mom always wanted to have hair days together and wanted to style my hair. Relaxing it was the best compromise for us too! That was the only way I could handle brushing it and taking care of my hair. Although now I embrace my natural curls and only straighten my hair once a year.
    Bless my momma, you and any other guardians for caring and doing what is needed ❤️

    The only problem with leaving texture in the hair (which I completely agree with) is that its hard to get a consistant level of relaxation. Its going to be difficult to manage with the mix of textures. I would suggest on her next touch up to run the relxer through the entire hair shaft after youve done the roots. Just to smooth it out a little bit more and that will help with managability and it will not compromise the integrity of her hair.
    I've done this with my sister and her hair density remained in tact while allowing for better managability. Overall its all about making wash day a better day for both of you.💜

    Her hair looks really beautiful . HOWEVER ! Be VERY CAREFUL about relaxers on a child her age. I know numerous adult women who had had relaxers from childhood & started losing hair from scalp damage as they approached menopause. Some are now shiny head bald. I have seen former students now in their 20s & 30s with scalp damage from relaxers since elementary school. I had gorgeous curly perms for years & quit years ago & am now a retiree & being treated by a dermatologist for alopecia. Back when I was a kid I didn’t see any black women with that condition; they just had normal hair thinning. Too many harsh chemicals in relaxers that cause scalp damage even if you don’t feel it. Hair follicles are being affected .

    Make sure you teach her to handle her hair. This will be the only problem down the line. She need ti learn how to maintain also. Part of growing up.

    I used heat daily when I was relaxed and my hair was beautiful. I miss it lol. It's all about how you care for it. I went to a professional at least 2x a month who kept up with my treatments and made sure it stayed healthy. That's what I think is the trick with relaxed hair. Going to a professional often and keeping it healthy is a must.

    You sure wrapping isn't good for edges? I go to a master stylist and she encourages it, does my hair well I think but I guess it doesn't work for everyone. Her hair is beautiful.

She is so lucky to have a mom that wants her to be as least traumatized as possible. She's still in so much pain. 😩 I hope you go bone straight just so she can experience painlessness at least once in her life.

    During wash days - maybe try parting off into smaller sections while wet and maybe banding method or even trying plaits w/banding and let air dry and few days then after that blow it out to help it dry and stretch before blow out so it probably won't be so painful cause the hair will relax a little and not be so "knotty" or get knocked on ends as much possibly. Then heat protect and blow out nay be quicker and easier

    • @jlp7847
      @jlp7847 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't have 4c or any 4 type hair but when I plait and band and let it air dry before applying heat it is easier and quicker to manage

    If she has such a problem with her hair being combed, maybe it would be better of you gave it a full Relaxer, bone straight. I think that would be a lot easier for her. Just saying...and a good relaxer will not necessarily thin out her hair, you just have to use the right products and take good care of it.

  • @toyeaisha8339
    @toyeaisha8339 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey, I know people swear by flat irons, but I find that hair straightens just as well with just a large curling iron, especially if you plan to curl the hair anyway. Also, how does your daughter handle an old fashioned hooded dryer? I also have very thick hair and much prefer to roll my hair when wet and sit under the dryer for bounce, shine and overall health without so much manipulation.

    • @teeteechee7331
      @teeteechee7331 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This would be my suggestion also. Rollers and hair dryer then pin curl to sleep. A roller set would give it a lot of body with less manipulation to her head.

    Her hair turned out beautiful just like her 😁! Girrrl, Remember you've got that Rev-Air dryer. Please try not to leave the conditioner in her long for too long because you don't want her to develop any fungus build up on her healthy scalp or hair. Looking forward to see her growth progress 🤩. Great job mom.

    I’m relaxed too and I love it! My original hair texture is 4c too! If your thinking about it just do it as long as you do your research and educate yourself well and get a professional to relax it for you, you should be good!
