  • What size slingshot ammo should be used with the stock bandset pouch on SimpleShot products?
The standard pouch we include on all our slingshot stock bands is suitable for the widest range of most common ammo sizes possible. The pouch is capable of shooting larger ammo is all the way up to the 1/2 inch steel size and all the way down to 3/8 inch or even smaller.
This is definitely an area of personal preference and most people who are dedicated shooters end up tying their own band sets, and therefore making their own pouch selection. But for us when we make our stock pouches that we want to be appropriate for the most people, our pouch size is designed to accommodate the 3/8 to 1/2 inch range most often. If you are shooting something smaller than 3/8 inch, you are probably going to want a smaller pouch.
When shooting, you are not only propelling the ammo at the moment of release, you are also propelling the pouch. Therefore, you want the pouch to be as light and insignificant to the shot as possible.

I found a good way to break in pouches is the put a steel ball ( your regular size) in a spare pouch then clip on a large Office clip ( we call them bulldog clips here in Oz.) and leave for a week or so - the ball held in place with the bulldog clip will naturally start to form a dimple in the leather

So … I just figured out an awesome slingshot ammo…you know that stuff that’s all shiney and seems to loose it’s value more and more every day…change… kind of makes me think about the word… change… looks like it’s CHANGED into becoming something useful…you can fold it up with a pair of pliers if you wanted probably fly pretty good like that … it’ll work pretty good in a pinch I’ll I give it that … just blasted a nickel straight through a plastic bin…

I made one from deer antler. It's a lot more work, but I recommend hand tools over power tools. The smell when it gets hot is not pleasant. There isn't a single flat/straight edge to be found. Getting it to sit still in a vice isn't easy. It was in fact seriously frustrating. I recommend some thinking about how you are going to hold it still while you work it. It will save you frustration and tool bites/injuries. 😁

Is the bandset that comes standard with the axiom x ideal for shooting 3/8 steel, I have a draw length of about 25 inches I cut the bands to 5 inches, seems like a insane draw weight, trying to dial in perfect set up for the 3/8 ammo

It works great for 7/16" and 3/8" ammo.

I have been using 7/16th steel ammo to target practice with lately with the stock bands because once hunting season is here I want to be ready and I have heard that is the best size for hunting most of the larger small game. My only thought is I wonder if a tapered 7/16th would provide more bonuses then the stock, my guess is not enough to notice and less band life. Great video as always Nathan!

I believe their stock 7/16" band sets are already tapered

There are two different sizes for our stock pouches. There is the large and the small. The 'Large' size is the pouch found on all of our looped tube bandset assemblies and 1/2", 7/16", and 3/8". These pouches are ideal for 3/8"(9.5mm) to 1/2" (12.5mm) projectiles.
The 'Small' size is excellent for ammo sizes up to 3/8" or 9.5mm projectiles.
