Also good to go to the other stream before raiding to make sure they are going to stay online. A few times now that I've gone to raid a friend only for them to also be ending and so my raid was just forwarded to another raid! Which is great, but I usually don't know the new streamer, haha. But also YES to raiding people without telling them you stream ahead of time. I did that once to someone I had even been subbed to for a few months and they were like "omg I didn't know you streamed!?" I only added like 7 people to their stream, but when you're small that's a lot! And new exposure is always great!
Great tips! I absolutely love that you point out how to redirect the conversation once you finally raid, because so many people end up raiding and wanting that shoutout but dont realize people won't actually go to their channel from that shoutout unless they interact with the streamer and chat a little and let people get to know them.
😭😭😭😭 omg I asked if anyone had questions about raids i should include in this video and someone on my Twitter started asking about WoW raids and i was like 🥴🤠😔
Hey I really love what you do!! If you see my TH-cam channel you will be able to tell that I am a Zumba/Cardio Dance Instructor (NOT A GAMER), and I am trying to stream what I do in Twitch, but I don't know what my category would be or what to do exactly since Twitch seems to be a different language for me! Thank you again for your amazing content!!!
A viewer being woke up by loud noises, after a raid, is so relatable. If I’m going to fall asleep while watching twitch, I always take into consideration the fact they will probably raid and it may wake me up
Thanks for the video!! The first raid I received span me out a bit but it taught me the importance of raiding at the end of streams. I try to make sure I set time aside for raiding at the end of streams now. Host and ghost is a great line though - I tend to think of raids as passing the torch on so I try not to dominate the raided stream.
Last night I sent a raid for the first time and I had such trouble with it, because I didn’t realize I shouldn’t put the @ sign lol. The streamer did appreciate it though and they said it was their first time being raided. It made me feel really good to be able to help in a small way. Thank you so much for all your helpful videos. You’ve really helped me a lot 💙
This was an absolutely incredible guide and as a brand new streamer i can't thank you enough! I really appreciate the more business oriented approach you gave this, like, obviously it is for fun and we're all playing video games and spamming emotes and acting like children, but at the same time, raiding is a networking strategy, and i honestly had never thought of it that way. Also that you seem to have really gone out of your way to distinguish what parts of this are more rules and what parts are just good practice or the typical polite thing to do. The whole idea of mixing between "raiding up" and "raiding down" was really interesting, especially the point of how you really should raid no matter how small your stream is. Also the subtle point of hanging out in communities with the ultimate goal of getting raided while at the same time not constantly shouting that you're a streamer. I know I'm just praising the entire video at this point but this just was so well done and i'm so glad I found it! Def gonna be checking out your streams now for sure!
I love raiding because I love introducing my Chat to other cool streamers with fun/helpful/engaging Communities. I seldom raid channels I don't know, due to a few not-so-great experiences that my raiders did *not* appreciate, but I *do* take the time to do a little peak-and-ponder before bringing my Community to new channels (especially if the channel vibe/rating varies from mine). I love doing an occasional raid of a lower-viewer streamer because it makes their day and usually improves the interaction of their community games, which is what I concentrate on. I have been known to drop bits or a random sub occasionally, if I can tell the streamer is having a bad day or challenging stream. The best feeling is when my goodwill is infectious and a Hype Train is triggered‼️🥰
Good to know. I'm a DJ and I was part of an Old school House raid train but I didn't know how to raid. It was my first time so I just mentioned following the next DJ that was listed on the flyer. Now I know what to do the next time I am in a raid event. Thanks.
Thank you so much for talking about specific Twitch etiquette because it's been really, strangely, difficult to navigate for me. I've just been lurking on channels to try and understand, but being able to hear all of this in one concise video saves me so much time haha...
Thank you for this! I’ve been trying these tips and it’s been working well for me ❤️ I even got raided by one of my favourite streamers recently and it was such a good feeling!!
I found getting a raid was disruptive to my stream and vibes with viewers who chose to check me out, stick around for a while and chat, which is a big thing as a new streamer - getting people to come in organically. Didn't enjoy the experience at all and disabled it on my 3rd stream. Just another perspective - I'm sure it can help growth, but if you don't want to do raids for whatever reason then there's other options. This is a great video though :)
This was super helpful! I'm going to start streaming probably in the next month and I've been rewatching a bunch of your videos to help out! Thank you for the tips ❤
I recently have been binge watching your videos and i would just like to say i absolutely LOVE your vibes and personality and GREATLY appreciate your videos.
Thanks for making another helpful video! I always struggle on how to be super welcoming to raids but not taking my current viewers out of the content I'm making and being too disruptive of the stream. I like the idea of trying to loop the conversation from the new raiders into what was happening before they entered the stream! Some nights I get way more raids then others and I need to take into account of how much time I spend away from the actual content vs being chatty. I love meeting new peeps though and have met some of my closest friends on twitch through raids so I'm very careful about how I give and receive them, they are so so important!
Thank you. Super informative. I want to help others when I can. I also raid to meet new people and hopefully make new friends. I just need to remember to keep doing it. Now I know how to do it right. Thank you.

For my youtube videos I've limited cussing to the extreme because it helps with monetization and shareability. It's really appreciated! A comment on "raiding up". Hi HeyshadyLady I just stumbled across your you tube and I love it. You give out some great advise. I am a new Streamer growing slowly. Wanted to say thank you for all the awesome tips you are giving out. It is so hard sometimes to find good tips and true tips.
As someone who has spent time as both the streamer and a viewer there are a few guidelines to have a raid be emotionally satisfying for you as a streamer in 2023. Always raid to someone with the same or less viewers. If you hit at 80 viewer show with 3 viewers your raid just looks like you're fishing for shoutouts in big streams. As a viewer it would be to raid someone playing the same game as you. Nothing kills the vibe like getting dumped from Battlefield into Stardew Valley.
This is an amazing and thorough review of HOW to raid and be raided! As a new streamer who didn’t even know what raiding was until I was raided, this was invaluable! Thank you! Also, I saw you doing a collab with Gael Level and when your beautiful face popped up, I knew I could trust your video. Thank you again!
26:20 I’m a small streamer so I don’t get many raids but when I do I typically say something along the lines of “thank you so much for the raid I hope you had a great stream!”

This has been so helpful thank you so much! I’m actually starting my first stream ever tomorrow and a little nervous. Your video and vibes have helped calm me a bit but we’ll see how it goes 😅
As someone who just started treating on Twitch, I cant even imagine how cool it would be to have that happen, but it will be much better to be able to do that for others. It is very difficult to start out on twitch. Very draining, and to help someone else...I can't wait to be able to do that
Been binging your content. Recently got suggested all of your videos. Such great advice. Had to subscribe and follow you on twitch. Hope to be able to catch your stream sometime.
What a great video, so informative. I really appreciate you showing the clip from one of your streams' incoming raids. A lot of us implemented various safety tools that may not be very raid friendly, like verification & follower only, which tools do you feel are ok to disable now that things seem to have settled down? I'm really glad you addressed raid videos although I'm not a fan of them, (I think they are better for breaks), I appreciate hearing your thoughts on them. I really prefer raiding channels of a similar size to mine & whom I already know, but often feel as if I'm raiding the same people over & over again. I've made a conscious effort to try to limit how many time a month I raid those channels, but sometimes that means skipping a raid. I have raided some very large streams, but only once in awhile when they are doing a fundraiser or something special.
Awesome vid. I’ve been streaming for many yrs now & like to stay educated & reminded via videos like this. Very much on the same page w/ what I do. Great advise here!
I love being a undercover super spy in someone’s channel and then raid them later on, it’s so fun to surprise them. Also, a fun way to give $$ but not overwhelming them is to use a couple sound alerts! They get bits, it’s fun and engaging and people love it!
Those are great tips! I'll definetely keep them in mind :) it also makes me reconsider streaming with a webcam haha because I'm very anxious and hate the looks of my own face so i previously always streamed without
i have a question, if someone joins my stream and stays in there for a while would it be weird to write their name down to remember it if they come back?
Hi i wanted to know how to get a good network to stream on since twitch usually tells me that obs disconnected and connected and then the resolution turns kinda blurry
Thanks so much for this super informative video. Even for streamers who aren't that new to the game really helpful tipps. Sometimes you forget those things. What I Have seen recently often is that some streamers host or host and raid instead of just raid. Havent found much on it why and what difference that makes. Do you happen to know more about it?
I got OBS per your other video, but then i had already got twitch studio and then i got all confused! So i ended up doing my first succesful stream just navigationg this new software. Ive got to find mentors and the right people to follow. I want to put this on my youtube channel eventually.. Any advice is appreciated!!!
Also good to go to the other stream before raiding to make sure they are going to stay online. A few times now that I've gone to raid a friend only for them to also be ending and so my raid was just forwarded to another raid! Which is great, but I usually don't know the new streamer, haha.

Been binging your content. Recently got suggested all of your videos. Such great advice. Had to subscribe and follow you on twitch. Hope to be able to catch your stream sometime.
thank you so much!
@@HeyShadyLady most welcome. Finding cool people like you is the whole reason I decided to get into twitch.
Thanks a lot!!!
Awesome vid. I’ve been streaming for many yrs now & like to stay educated & reminded via videos like this. Very much on the same page w/ what I do. Great advise here!
thank you so much!
Omg i just found you and your videos are so helpful! Thank you so much, I’m so clueless when it comes to twitch and your videos have been helping sm❤️
I love being a undercover super spy in someone’s channel and then raid them later on, it’s so fun to surprise them. Also, a fun way to give $$ but not overwhelming them is to use a couple sound alerts! They get bits, it’s fun and engaging and people love it!
i was so confused !!! i love your content thank you for explaining ✨💕✨
Those are great tips! I'll definetely keep them in mind :) it also makes me reconsider streaming with a webcam haha because I'm very anxious and hate the looks of my own face so i previously always streamed without
Very good Video.
Yes kween . Thanks for the tips!!
you're welcome, thanks for watching!!
I love this.
Yayy! 😊💕
Very informative! When streaming from the ps4 and i want to raid somebody will it still work if i type in the chat from my phone?
This is beautifully explained
Thank you! 🥺
absolutly love your videos !!!!!
I love this, it was so helpful!
i have a question, if someone joins my stream and stays in there for a while would it be weird to write their name down to remember it if they come back?
Hi i wanted to know how to get a good network to stream on since twitch usually tells me that obs disconnected and connected and then the resolution turns kinda blurry
I was wondering if it’s better to stream one game or different games ?
Yeah I always felt weird raiding with like 2 viewers to someone with like 60 it made me feel like it wasn’t right lmao
Best information out!!
