Chenle's voice is the backbone of NCT Dream's sound. When I first became a fan I always noticed Haechan and Renjun's voices first because they have such distinct tones but eventually I realized that Chenle can adapt his voice to any tone he wants and his ability to blend his voice to whoever he's singing with is why Dream's harmonies are so incredible. We're so lucky he got over his doubts about moving to Korea and joining SM.
Yes 100%!! I love how he knows how to play with his voice and adapt it appropriately. I really was blown away by his part in Where You Are. Hoping to hear more collabs with more singers! I think it would be fantastic if he could guest in Begin Again.

단단하지만 때로는 부드럽고 때로는 날카롭게 흔들림 없이 노래하는 건 정말 천러가 원탑이라고 생각함 물론 해찬이랑 런쥔이도 노래 너무 잘 부르지만 천러는 불안정함 하나 없이 라이브를 늘 잘 소화해 내는 게 진짜 대단한 듯 천러 음색 예쁜 건 알았지만 보컬에 대한 큰 생각 없었는데 헬퓨 활동 때 해찬이 고음 파트 대신 부르는 거 보고 충격받음 얘의 가능성은 무한하다고 본다

Chenle’s voice is so crystal clear and it’s very distinctive. I love how he doesn’t exaggerate or over do it when he sings. It sounds as he is constantly singing a lullaby.

I'm always in awe how Chenle can make his voice adapt to whatever occasion it is. Not only does he have precise control of his voice and projection, but he can also get into conveying the emotions of the song very well. Chenle’s just so down to earth. In 7Dream’s videos he’s always goofing around but when it’s time to sing,he's serious and passionate. He’s always looking to improve and put in the work. His dedication and hard work shine through in his singing. He’s so well rounded, he can support, harmonize flawlessly, and absolutely nail his main parts. chenle has the most stable and well trained voice in dream and he does most of the harmonies cuz he’s just that good. this is the results of training young since he’s a child prodigy so put some respect on his name!
“stability” isn’t actually a metric for judging a vocalist objectively, just fyi! that would be support, diaphragm engagement, breath control, belting, range, use of chest, mixed and head voice etc…and in ALL the aforementioned categories HAECHAN actually has the best vocal technique in dream, BY FAR! but if you want to focus on stability, haechan is kind of the best in that too😭just watch the recent smoothie encores, chenle sometimes whispers his parts, cracked his voice on the mcountdown one while singing his adlib, or simply struggles to sing his higher notes with any kind of volume and it lacks power and sounds extremely nasally and airy and just weak. Haechan was being extremely loud tho and was belting all the high notes! he is the best vocalist in dream overall and chenle really still needs more vocal lessons (even tho he admitted he stopped taking them?😭)

Zhong Chenle singing the rose. That song brought back all my childhood memories, i remember being 8-9 idk hearing this song for the first time in elementary school and crying because it was such a beautiful song. Now i sit her 20 years later still crying because the lyrics still hit just as hard and it's sung by one of my all time favourite vocalists. Truthfully reading the title i didn't think it was going to be the song i hadn't heard in years but the moment he sang "some say love" i had to pause and take a minute because it hit me like a ton of bricks. i was transported back to being a little girl discovering life and music and emotions at that young age and that in some cases of magic they can all be intertwined. i don't know what right i had being so emotional at 8 years old but my principal and teachers introduced me to so much diverse music at that age and i truly believe it is because of them that i am able to feel this deeply in life to this day. Thank you Chenle for giving your voice to this song and allowing me to break for a moment.
