I obsess over the smallest details and I'm coming to understand that it's necessary to get good grades, especially on vintage and junk wax. Modern stuff seems much easier once you have that eye. Hoping to film that reveal in the next few days...
Thank you for all of your sub and reveal videos, I've learned a lot and I wouldn't have done this well without them. I think I'll do much better in future vintage submissions, but I suspect finding the raw cards to get those better grades will be harder. They don't seem to show the same leniency that PSA does on 71s in particular. I want to do another small vintage test sub with all centered backs. It looks like I'll have a while to find those cards while the pricing situation shakes out.
Fast nickel versus slow dime at this point. I can see SGC closing the gap in certain areas, especially if PSA takes 9 months to get 2021 cards out the door.
@@cacsports My understanding is that quarterly specials are being treated as economy aka 9 month turnaround. Even at $15ish per card, I still can't do it...
It becomes more apparent to me that timing is an essential part of this hobby with each passing year. I don't collect high-end stuff, so I'll wait and send more cards in when and if it makes sense. "If it's a 10 today, it should be a 10 tomorrow."
@@Base1986 I definitely wouldn’t send any speculative rookies in bulk to psa just stick with the modern or vintage big cards send the cheap stuff to gma or sgc and dump it.
@@wheetie7 I didn't expect 9.5, I thought it was more in the 9 range. It's high, but not 80/20...maybe 65/35. Optical centering and mathematical centering are two different things when assessing this set in particular because of the black/white borders. The team names are tricky too because they're not always flush with the photos.

SGC does a good job and they will be the only way I slab vintage from now on. They all look good.

You have to be one of the few people that pre grades their cards tougher than SGC does. Nice returns!
Nice return on these man, some TOUGH cards and you killed it. I’ve graded a few 71’s with SGC and they hammered me on them as well

What a fast turn around. I think I’m done with SGC only because they sell for so much less than PSA. Only bummer PSA is probably eight months out

At 25$ a card it’s harder to justify using Sgc
I'll certainly have to be more selective...it's gotten harder for me to justify PSA considering I can't get a card back in 2021 for less than $100.

That bonds 9.5 is a total mistake by the grader. Look at top to bottom.. 80/20
