- An orchestral remix/remake/cover of Spear of Justice (the battle theme for Undyne) from Undertale using high-end sample libraries.
This is my favorite track from the game. My goal was to capture the feeling of the original, so I tried to stay as faithful to the original track as possible. I also used a part from the alternate version (titled "Ngahhh!!") for the ending.

Spear of Justice is one of those Undertale tunes which just fits orchestra performances so perfectly
That's right. Since it lends itself so well to orchestration, it was a lot easier to make and it turned out better than the other more rock-based Undertale tracks that I tried to cover.
@@MalcolmRobinsonMusic I can tell, it has such a good feel to it that really is hard to replicate. Undertale (and Deltarune) have a lot of rock/EDM based tracks that are fun, but I do still love these more orchestral ones nonetheless.

Oh man, this is amazing! This was one of my favorite tracks as well, and I think you really captured the spirit of the original! Love the instrumentation, especially the way you used the strings and percussion. Keep up the good work! :)

I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to replicate the trumpet sound with my orchestral libraries, but fortunately I found a pretty good mariachi solo trumpet patch in Hollywood Brass. I also experimented with some percussion that I had never used before, so it was a pretty good learning experience.

The very fact that the musical that USED this music has more views then the actual song
This is till definitely one of your best covers. Spear of Justice is a piece that's carried already by the intricacies of its melody, so sticking to the script as usual and working with those intricacies work perfectly.
I mean just listen to the difference to the Ruins section before/between the fanfares, and the way it sounds after the modulation with the piano! The trumpets during the fanfares are so satisfying, and I especially love the Spanish percussion that comes in it fits the encounter so perfectly. You also usually hear brass used for the intro section, but I actually really like the use of woodwinds first before bringing the brass in. I makes the transition section and the pickup to it with trumpets all the better.

+Girafarig I guess the medieval sound comes from the solo strings that I layered with the string ensembles. It gives it a really close sound that reminds me a lot of some of Yasunori Mitsuda's work like Time's Scar from Chrono Cross.

Wonderful Orchestration, I like the choice for the opening fanfare, I initially thought it might do well with an instrument with a heavier attack and more base but this grew on me. Great Job!

You seem to always have the right amount of brass and percussion in your Orchestrations. I don't know how you do it, but I have never felt like there was too much goin on with your orchestrations.[and I've listened to a lot of orchestrations from different people like Schafi] It's always just right! Keep doin you man.
+Colin Roan Thanks! I spend a lot of time listening to my unfinished orchestrations over and over on different speaker setups and making tweaks here and there until I feel it's balanced enough. Sometimes I have to add or change instruments to keep it sounding fresh and to make it flow well. I think I've gotten much better at this over the years, but I still have a lot to learn.

thank goodness someone made a cover of this, i was listening to the original while studying, but i couldnt focus because i kept thinking that this would be amazing for orchestra and started separating the melody out into parts for each instrument in my head

I think this one (and "Chrono Trigger Main Theme") turned out well because they were originally written in an orchestral style, so it was very natural for me to expand them to a full orchestra. Some of my other work is a little more experimental and the results vary depending on the source material, but I always do my best! :)
+Malcolm Robinson Music I think the ones you "played it safe" on (if one can call it that) trigger a sort of nostalgia which is just difficult to beat. I have to admit though, I just haven't listened to much more than perhaps 8 of your songs, who knows; I might just find a new favorite among your "experimental" ones :)
