Tip: pick up his poop and put it in a corner of your yard where u want him to poop and he will naturally start pooping there and when u want to clean up your yard it will all be in one place
Train him!! Tricks are cool, but you can train favorable behaviors as well! If he always tries to run away, train him to sit and stay ever time you walk through the door. Unfortunately, dogs don't "get over" behaviors :/ the learn the correct behavior through training!!
You are absolutely right. If he is always trying to run out when you are leaving and you don't correct that, it will not stop and become harder to deal with when he is full grown.
Why are so many people so ignorant about the upbringing of nonhumans? They’ll end up blaming the dog or cat, when it’s the humans at fault. This pisses me off so much, and I was already passed over the wife demanding a dog, but refusing to take care of the dog’s shite. They need to get Camper trained ASAP, and start behaving like responsible adults with regards to those who are dependent upon them.
@@LC05 Also most of the time if they try to go out its because they want to go for a walk.. people dont realize u need to walk atleast 1.5 hours a day with a retriever (preferably not on a leash, make it atleast 2 hours when on a leash). The retriever we had when i was young didnt walk enough aswell.. so she would escape and went on solo walks and just come back a hour orso later... after a while we would just let her go out on her own, so she walked herself... the one i own now, she walks atleast 2 hours every day.. and that makes her happy for the rest of the time.. (she takes naps a lot/some playtime). And when i walk with her she's mostly not on a leash unless there is traffic involved.. U have to give a dog the space to run/snif the flowers when walking.. also playtime with other dogs is very important..
I never had a dog before I got one as an adult. Here's what I learned: 1. Train him with commands. Sadie knows several. Be consistent if he doesn't listen. Praise him when he does. Personally, Sadie is one of the best trained dogs that I know out of my friends and family. 2. Get him his own bed/furniture so he won't get yours dirty. 3. Potty training is similar to kids. It. Takes. Time. Good luck.
Christopher Bradley .... I agree, dogs LOVE hikes, even if it’s hot. Just be sure to take a portable waterbowl and don’t walk too fast.....let them rest, etc... they live to go on walks and hikes. My eleven yr old golden would walk no matter what the conditions were, not or cold, and he loved it.
Thank you so much for saying this. So many people only share the good and people are overwhelmed when they actually get a puppy, then they end up in shelters. You are helping!!!
Tip: If you actually walk your dog out on the streets they instinctively push all their poops and pees out before getting back home. It's their way of marking territory. Then when you get home their bowels and bladders are virtually guaranteed empty. No mess in the yard, they can stay comfortable at home longer during the day and you get fit from all the walking.
This is a really honest video. I LOVE dogs. I love dog sitting, I volunteered at a no-kill shelter, I love petting strangers' dog (of course, after asking permission), learning about dog breeds, etc. Still really apprehensive about owning my own puppy. lt's a huge responsibility to raise and care for a living being. Loved the jingle and what you said about rising to the occasion. Thanks for another great video!
Marcus Johns Lol! It's the best chaos in the world though. Just think of your love for that puppy times a million. 💕 Keep up with the videos! #onafreakingroll 😂
all of your 5 biggest dislikes (besides going poop, which might be helped with a higher quality food) can be solved so god damn easily. Excercise your dog and crate train it
the reason you have all these problems is you haven't trained him well at all. I have three golden retrievers and about to bring a forth into the house and they know about 100 commands
Yeah sure, Next time I'm in the U.S would love to help. Im in New Zealand. Can send a video of jonesey one of my oldest golden ( He's ten) leaving a treat on his nose until i say ok. its bloody cute
wow, Marcus Johns, you seem to be saying this very lightheartedly, but sadly this response (in addition to the things you say in the video, which show that you are still not ready to have a dog.. :/ ) reveals such an irresponsible and ignorant attitude... :( It's not good enough to just get someone to "give lessons" - proper training of healthy boundaries and behaviours comes from the owners' everyday attitudes and habits - such as walking the dog. Asking someone to just come in and give a couple lessons to solve issues with your dog is like parents thinking they don't have to raise their children in any way - just feed them, cuddle them, give them lots of toys and send them to have lessons at school - and yet expect their children to somehow grow up into well-adjusted, socially aware, polite, kind, generous and self-disciplined adults, without any parental guidance and leadership! Just like with raising children, raising a dog well involves giving them healthy boundaries and training them to behave appropriately, which allows them to understand what you want from them and know their position and role in the pack - fulfilling this job gives them a sense of purpose and belonging and helps them feel calm - similarly to how humans get a sense of worth, satisfaction and pride from doing a job well and supporting their loved ones - dogs are social animals like us. Proper training doesn't just involve commands, but also teaching healthy boundaries (like not trying to run outside the gate - you should be able to leave the gate open and for the dog not to run out!), healthy habits - following their pack leader on walks, not running into the street and pooping outside of home territory - this provides needed mental stimulation - otherwise their mental energy is not used and they get really bored and with no constructive direction, it ends up being channelled into destroying things and makes the dog feeling insecure and anxious, since their brains are primed to follow a pack leader and fulfil a role, but without being given direction, they don't know what to do with themselves.
I hope you realize 90% of the "problems" you're mentioning is your own fault. Lack of training and you're obviously don't understand how dogs work... so sad.
I was literally about to comment this😂 YOU SO ARE. Way to turn things around Marcus, you're making yourself, your fam & friends proud❤❤ love you guys too much
"These are things that you don't necessarily realize when you get a dog" - Translation "This is what happens when you do no research and are not a responsible pet owner" - Fixed for you.
You, Kristin, and Cody & Lexy all posted videos today around the same time, and I am not mad about it at all!!!!!! God bless you guys for continually showing how fun, inspiring, and joyful living with Christ is!!!!!❤️
Eve No Adam he probably only had his first round of shots. Its common for dogs to come with worms if you don't get them from an ethical breeder, shots or not. Also, flees have nothing to do with shots so.
Marcus Johns hi!! I love your videos!! My dog does every single thing that camper does. 😂😂 your videos make me smile!! And so does Kristins! Love her videos to!! And I have poop duty to. Haha. I'm in charge of my dog. It's slot of work. But I love my dog. :) anyway this was a pointless comment but just wanted to say hi. God bless :)
You're literally one of the only people that I feel could post a video about ANYTHING and no matter what it was, I'd love it and be highly entertained. Thank you for being consistent with your uploading and always bringing a smile to me and my husband's face! :)
Anna McPherson wow! Thank you for this comment!! What a compliment! Well that is going to help keep my feet to the fire and continue to be consistent at posting. Thank you for the encouragement. That means so much!!!
I truly mean every word of it and have felt the same way since I started following you in the beginning of the Vine days! Thanks so much for your response - really made my night! :D
If watching others where the character is only stating his opinion makes you happy, then I'm really sad for you! Because, you do not value your time. I just ended up here after wathing videos of how to train a dog as I have a dog myself. Litterature, excercise, helping others in need and having an actual job is a good place to start. "You're entering a world of pain".
Marcus, I enjoyed your video! I'm probably your grandmother's age, but it is refreshing to see an expressive young man who seems fun, but also gets responsibility, and adapts to life with maturity and generosity. I also think you were very clever about some of the realities of owning a puppy,, like "poop patrol", and presenting them in a graphic but humorous way.
HI..I just started watching your videos, so I dont know the answer to this...but do u guys walk him? If he has enough exercise, he wont mess up the house bc he will be tired from exercise!
I had to give up my puppy because I just couldn't handle him at this point in my life. It was an impulse adoption and I paid the price for it. Glad to see you and Kristen working through all the problems that drove me up a wall! I think it's a lot easier to handle a puppy with two people in the house. Doing it by yourself is a TALL TASK.
this is like the cuttest video i've ever seen!💛 i had a dog for about 17 years and i miss him a lot so enjoy your time with Camper, it really is the best time😊
I LOVE this video!! People always talk about how awesome dogs are and how one should totally get one, but tend to forget (or do not know) that you have to look after your dog and do things that you may not like! I LOVE my dog, but I understand not everyone is in a position of having one. Great video =)
I lost my dog 3 months ago due to liver disease and I miss having cuddles with him and seeing him all excited everyday I came home from school. He was a Jack Russell cross corgi and was only 10 years old. He has been a really sick dog since he was a puppy he had a major stomach operation because he ate rocks, plastic from his toys and he ate grass. We found out that he had a blocked gut and was violently ill we almost lost him on the operating table. His had a hard life and the pet shop treated him badly but he came into our wonderful family who loved and cared for him.
Haha, it really is like having a furry baby. Don't worry, it gets easier once he is over the puppy stage (and you will then miss him being at that stage forever😅) 🐶
I have a 10 year old and a 7 year old, I don’t miss their puppy stages at all. I really enjoy them behaving properly and not being all over the place :P
I wouldnt say it will get easier... Dogs behaviours are based on the owners rules, boundaries and limitations. He could turn from being the most sweetest dog to agressive in just a second.
There has yet to be a single video of yours that I haven't smiled and laughed at! You are so good at brightening up peoples days without even trying!! I look forward to new videos all the time!
Love this video, and camper is adorable. Just a tip for toy boredom: don't leave all the toys down all the time, just put a couple down each day and switch them in oration. That way, it'll almost seem like a new toy each time :)
I have 2 gsd first dogs ever been 12 yrs cant imagine my life without them. Many learning lessons lots of training classes looooove them have fun many learning curves enjoy them all lol
I can't understand how can you live without hugging your adorable puppy every single second of the day (cause obviously I guess you aren't always in the house with him)
I love u both so much!!!! U make me laugh so much haha 😂 LOL!! I LOVE ❤️ Golden Retrievers so MUCH!!!!!!!!! ☺️ I also luv ur hair right now it is so funny!
My sister has a golden retriever who is always carrying around a toy, towel, sock, anything... They love to hold toys in their mouth and it is so freaking cute!
these are the things that make having a dog great. i appreciate all my stressed out times now that hes a good pup. if the poop and laving him stresses you out. ha i wonder what happened once he got to his rowdy stage.
Finally someone who outlines the reality of owning a dog and it’s not all fun and games as many people make it seem in many posted you tube video clips. As a kid, we had dogs at home but my parents did a lot of the day to day care, we did the playing with the dogs bit which was so much fun. Now as an adult that works extremely long and sometimes unpredictable hours, it is just not practical to own a dog as much as I would love to.
Camper is beautiful. Bird dogs love water you should see my Standard poodle! Wash all his bandanas, bedding, rugs and Camper. Sprinkle Lavender oil on everything keep this up and you will chase the flees away naturally. Good luck I can see your heart bursting with pride and love.
I totally get this video... My dog is my EVERYTHING and he has taught me so much about myself ... however.. he just had to have emergency surgery due to eaten a dish rag.... $3000 for surgery. All love to the boy but my god that is a lot of money. (He's a golden doodle but looks a lot like camper! )
Marcus! about the poop bit, I have a little labradoodle puppy, what we do, we get a little garden shovel to pick it up and but it in an outside old paint bin, then empty it each week! hope that helps!
I have a 19 week old German Shepherd dog who lots of people adore and come to say hello too, but sadly some people are scared of him, and when he's an adult it's probably going to be worse because of his size. It's a shame, he's so friendly and loves meeting new people and making friends. I know it's a bit random, but with you saying how people come to say hello too Camper it made me think of how people are with Zane. Still, you're pup is beyond adorable and I wish you all the best with training and living with him, you have a friend for life there
"He was freakin dukin the place up". I will absolutely be using this word. BEST youtuber. Seriously I haven't found a video where I am not dying of laughter!!!
"Most times in life you are not ready for things. They just happen and you adapt" 👍🏼 great words Marcus! That's my life right now. You and Kristen are amazing! 💕
This is such a REAL video about having a dog. I'll be honest this was suggested and I don't normally watch. But once I heard the first bad part about having a dog I realized this was an honest video. I have a GSD puppy and I always feeling a little guilty about leaving him to run errands but once I'm out I kind of don't want to come home to him. I know he is ok but reality hits and I have to walk, feed and play once he hears the door open.
This video just kind of sounds like you didn't really think through getting a dog and the responsibilities associated with it. I feel like if you did some research prior to getting a dog, you would have easily addressed 95% of the "dislikes" you listed and prepared yourself to dealing with the issues before it became source of annoyance. I guess, not everyone is meant to have a dog lol. Cute doggies though.
@@sabz1461 it’s not about good or bad sides, the dog is completely fine. The owners are just irresponsible with the dog and refuse to properly train them so that the « bad sides » won’t exist
Loved this video! Dogs are a huge responsible, there is alot you don't think about when getting a dog. I love my dog, however, I feel bad when I leave him home as well. It's funny I will be heading to go to work, and feeling bad for him. The irony is, he is laying comfortably in the house on his favorite bed, and his stuffed animals, and I'm working all day. It's a hard knock life for a pup, haha.
Ahh I thought I was the only one who grits my teeth bc I love my dog so much! You're so right about that excitement that they get too, I live for that. Love your videos, you always keep it real!
The jingle was SO FREAKING CUTE AND CAMPER IS SUPER FREAKING CUTE😭 also you two cuddling and singing to him while kissing him and him looking like “what the hell is going on??” ...so incredibly cute
Tip: pick up his poop and put it in a corner of your yard where u want him to poop and he will naturally start pooping there and when u want to clean up your yard it will all be in one place
The only helpful comment on here.
I don't even know ONE dog, that poops in his yard - my dog and every dog I know just doesn't like it so problem solved 🤷♀️😂
Why have I never thought of this? Thank you
wow this is a very good tip ty

Omg thank you! People have no expectations. That’s why their pets and their children are terrible. They MUST be taught.

they have 2worry about heat stroke but as long as long as they don't over except him & have plenty of food &water he will b fine
Just make sure to put that coating on their paws so they don’t burn
He loves water and he loves retrieving in the water because that is what Golden Retrievers were born to do.
I was thinking the same thing lol. Of course he loves it. That's what they do.
I thought the same. Dont know if they were enough informed...
"Kristin dosen't like cleaning up the poop" Honestly tho? Who does 😂 That's just part of having a dog
Fie H. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Haha. My husband never would have let me get a dog unless I promised to do at least 50% of the work.
They have a balance though they seems to work for them... Marcus does the poop & Kristin does all the laundry lol.
Learn about raw feeding. It disappears after a few days.
Why I think cats are easier 😂 I love my Aussie though.
lol his face when you were squishing and kissing him!
Sarah Kane 😊😊
Sarah Kane 😂😂😂 ikr
I was cracking upppp at that
he didn't look happy
you shouldnt have let your girl get a dog if she wont ever pick up poop fr

Its called being married lol

Your lucky my 6 year old German Shephard hates water and the watering hose. Also he destrys every toy I give him . Even if its rope.
Marcus Johns hope you release a song in the future too. Your voice is goooood! In this video it felt like it was a disney show or something. Haha.
Great video I want to have a threesome, me the weiner dog in the girl (AWESOME)

I didn't understand this video at all - the five things that suck are a part of the pup's growing up. The presenter came across a silly.
I could watch videos of Camper allllllll dayyyyyyy looooooong! ❤️ He looks like such an old soul! So, so sweet.
Do you only own white shirts? Lol
Alexis Reischmann possibly
Exact experiences that I had with my golden pup, love and hate can't resist his cuteness.
Oh crust bucket
Isaiah Prine crustttt buckett
This list is spot on!! Thank you for being so realistic and genuine in all your videos, that's what makes you so fun to watch.
Lauren Duty thank you!!
I really liked the fact you also spoke about bad stuff :) so many people are buying dogs without knowing anything about them!
I gotta agree coming home to your dog is best part of anyone's day
Love this video, and camper is adorable. Just a tip for toy boredom: don't leave all the toys down all the time, just put a couple down each day and switch them in oration. That way, it'll almost seem like a new toy each time :)
The Invisible Teenager nice! I'll try that!
I have 2 gsd first dogs ever been 12 yrs cant imagine my life without them. Many learning lessons lots of training classes looooove them have fun many learning curves enjoy them all lol
Hahahah that jingle!! 😂 Great vid keep em coming
Vanessa Hamby thank you!
Hahaha I laughed so hard when you were spraying the hose and Camper was trying to catch the water.
people really love to pet shame. im glad camper makes y’all happy!! he is such a cutie.
I can't understand how can you live without hugging your adorable puppy every single second of the day (cause obviously I guess you aren't always in the house with him)
Marcus your hair get progressively crazier as the video goes on 😂

My sister has a golden retriever who is always carrying around a toy, towel, sock, anything... They love to hold toys in their mouth and it is so freaking cute!
CAMPER'S ADORABLE.
So funny, when you said "he doesn't really like the sheep".... that's literally my dogs exact favorite toy. 😂😂
Ur little family is the perfect combination of perfect imperfections, hope to have a fam like urs one day :)
Anna Gregoles thank you!!
these are the things that make having a dog great. i appreciate all my stressed out times now that hes a good pup. if the poop and laving him stresses you out. ha i wonder what happened once he got to his rowdy stage.

brooke oakley wow thank you so much!!
Yay, you and Kristen both posted today! 💕
Monique Alexis I know!!
The teeth thing is so relatable! My teeth will be sore day after day from biting them down so hard when I see my pup. 😍😂
Jacqueline Green haha
Literally having my senior dog with raising my puppy eliminated 80% of the problems listed.
I love my puppies ❤
The end of this video killed me😂😂😂
Amanda Ford 😂👍🏻
Camper is beautiful. Bird dogs love water you should see my Standard poodle! Wash all his bandanas, bedding, rugs and Camper. Sprinkle Lavender oil on everything keep this up and you will chase the flees away naturally. Good luck I can see your heart bursting with pride and love.
I totally get this video... My dog is my EVERYTHING and he has taught me so much about myself ... however.. he just had to have emergency surgery due to eaten a dish rag.... $3000 for surgery. All love to the boy but my god that is a lot of money. (He's a golden doodle but looks a lot like camper! )
Haley Gardner wow! Good luck!
Awww his sad face when he wants to go home! I couldn't deal! ♥
Marcus! about the poop bit, I have a little labradoodle puppy, what we do, we get a little garden shovel to pick it up and but it in an outside old paint bin, then empty it each week! hope that helps!
Libby May that's what we should do!
Still, you're pup is beyond adorable and I wish you all the best with training and living with him, you have a friend for life there
I think the endings of your videos are the BEST part lol!!
Tim Kesting haha yay!!
Tim Kesting k
My golden is about to be 2 years old and he still acts like a 6 month pup. It never stops!!
Someday I hope to have another dog!! I miss my dearly departed sweet dogs!!!🐶

"Most times in life you are not ready for things. They just happen and you adapt" 👍🏼 great words Marcus! That's my life right now. You and Kristen are amazing! 💕
Veronica Nieto thank you!!
I cant with you 😂😂😂 hahahhahahahah that ending
MANWAH MAKEUP 😂😂✌️
okkkkk the jingle was the cutest thing ever wow this dog is flippin adorable
I would totally buy the jingle on itunes
paulina arciga haha awesome!
Did you watch the whole video? It pretty much shows how they are happy with the dog. Not everything is perfect, it has good and bad sides.
Good job man, the videos are always entertaining!
Michael Fenton thanks man!
Your videos always bring me so much joy!! You and Kristin are so genuine and down to earth!! Sending so much love❤️❤️
Madeleine LaBrec thank you!!!
Marcus Johns Oh my gosh you actually replied!! No problem!
i was eating chocolate cake when you started describing the poop blanket...
the slo mo of camper trying to eat the water 😂😂 you & Kristin are so great, keep up the hard work!
your next jingle could be about the evolution of your front hair sprout throughout just one video
for some reason i just discovered that Marcus and Cody are brothers like waaaat
Roxanne E. haha always happens
Roxanne E. Me reading your comment: *What?*
Me reading Marcus' confirmation: *Whaaaaaaaaaa?! When? How did I not- Must research*
Ahh I thought I was the only one who grits my teeth bc I love my dog so much! You're so right about that excitement that they get too, I live for that. Love your videos, you always keep it real!
Alli K thank you!!!
Has Camper met Milo yet?
Mary Nguyen yes! Milo is really scared of him haha
The jingle was SO FREAKING CUTE AND CAMPER IS SUPER FREAKING CUTE😭 also you two cuddling and singing to him while kissing him and him looking like “what the hell is going on??” ...so incredibly cute
