I had a girl i used to work with that was getting a school discount to get me the blue point kit and it was still over 200 bucks..... snapon is not all made in the usa anymore and alot of their tools are bought in bulk from a manufacturer then rebranded with their logo to increase the price 300%. Its bullshit. Tekton has been around for awhile to my understanding but i always say this..... regardless of the quality, you can make a $5 tool work and last just as long as long as you use it the right way.... snapon is a rip on a lot of shit and theres no reason for it. Thats why they have so many competitors now.

Firstly, if your going to buy Torx™ products, make sure they are indeed TORX! Not 'spline' or 'star' bits. Torx is a patented design and top tier tool co's will pay to employ its unique design..Star & spline are Torx copies or generic versions that wonyt fit the same. So check that 1st especially if buying asian made like Tekton. Proprietary Torx bits WILL cost a little more, but are usually made by quality tool brands. Taiwan started making quite decent bits 5-8 years ago from S2 steel. There are a few factories that do a great job with the steel. Dont forget you can buy Wiha bits and put them into whatever brand bit sockets providing they have the grub screw in the side. $600usd for that set is pretty insane, but Grip edge will charge $519msrp for a rack of hex bits with their design 😮 And they too are made in Taiwan. HUGE markups on these kind of tools.

I have a good bit of Tekton products, I like ‘em. I just purchase from the Website anyway…forget about Amazon. Tekton will explain on its website the Country of origin for any product wanting to be purchased. Tekton also explains the percentage of where their product are produced. The highest percentage was Taiwan, the lowest percentage was China…3% if I remember right. Right in between was the USA-made which includes the angle head wrenches, crow’s feet, screw drivers, pliers, dead blow hammers, and some tool accessories. Tekton is the only company I will mail order tools through. All the other tools I’ve bought were purchased locally.

I didn't buy the Tekton but purchased the Capri sets. Three different sets. Ok, but there are sizes in these sets that you will never use ever in automotive. I got two double hand full of socket sizes I won't ever use.
The Blue-Point set is designed for auto repair! Plus the Capri rusted and I had to discard many of those. Ended up purchasing the Blue-Point 87 piece set.
The 87 pc Blue-Point Torx Hex driver set is the most compact mobile set on the market. Nothing wrong with them and even the plastic case is lifetime warranty. The only negative is the sockets are laid out weird, due to compact design.
The Capri cases look better in the pictures, but when I got them the cases are pure garbage. Sockets lay loose in the case and latches fall off.

How had you not heard of Tekton? Probably one of the most consistent of the imported tools and now some being made in the US.
They have what I call a “No Pants” Warranty. Gearwrench does too.
Lots of Snap On is imported. Part of Snap On’s pricing is due to their business model, sort of more hands in the pot sort of thing. They have driven innovation in the tool sector quite a bit. That said, they are great quality in many regards BUT they aren’t the leader across the board. And while I love to support US products IF they’re great quality, US stuff isn’t always the best.
Also, thanks for the reminder that I should look to Tekton for some of my stuff…. Considering them for impact sockets.
Oh yeah, btw, a lot of Williams stuff is made in Taiwan too.

I wish people would wake up from this whole tool truck facade. The tool industry has come such a long way. You can get amazing quality tools without paying these ridiculously inflated prices. It's gotten completely out of hand. Snap-on isn't the only offender either. Other tool truck brands are just as guilty. They are all guilty, but snap-on just happens to be the worst offender. I have so many tools that are Taiwanese made that have held up in a professional setting for years and years and years. There are also high-quality Japanese tools and German tools that are everybit as good as the tool truck brands for a fraction of the price. Snap-on charges $1000 for a freaking socket set y'all!! That's beyond insanity!! Mechanics usually don't make a lot of money either and it's like, WTF?! They offer these payment plans because they know that y'all couldn't afford to buy them otherwise. It's just so crazy to me honestly. I bet my $16 Tsunoda made in Japan pliers are everybit as good as Snap-on's $80 pair of pliers. I bet my $90 set of Tekton made in Taiwan chrome sockets are everybit as good as Snap-on's $1000 set of chrome sockets. I bet my $80 Vessel made in Japan set of screwdrivers is everybit as good as Snap-on's $350 set of screwdrivers. Then ppl say, well i can do a payment plan for my tools, other companies dont offer that. Other companies dont need to offer that because their tools are reasonable priced. You wouldn't have to make payments if you weren't buying $220 ratchets and $800 socket sets!!

Ive used tekton for my core hand tools professionally for a year now, ive warrantied a few of those XL box end ratcheting wrenches because its so easy to abuse them, and the replacements get to me within 2 days of me sending the warranty claim. They have even upgraded them to the new design. Im not a huge fan of their ratchets, I think Gearwrench 120XPs and of course Snap On Dual80s are much better tools, however they are very price competetive. Their growing USA made lines like picks/pry bars are excellent, and I wolld argue their impact sockets are the best overall in the industry

I should also note that snap ons warranty depends on the tool you broke already being on the truck, otherwise it's got to be ordered which takes 2 weeks for my dealer. Also, your dealer being willing to break packages, which they won't always do if your not a larger or consistent customer.

You do not have to ship off Tekton lol. It’s literally faster than snapon. You go to the website type in your credentials and the part number and send in a picture. They almost immediately send a confirmation and shipping number. Comes in 2 days max. If something’s not right about the order you call them and they answer the phone not an answering machine. Most of the snapon I have had to warranty my dealer had to order. Took almost a month to get my socket once. Then when it came in guess what. My dealer says “I got it in but I left it in my shop” what good does it do me sitting in his shop.
