Cab view of the Izu Hakone Railway Sunzu Line, a private railway that runs north and south through the center of the Izu Peninsula in Shizuoka Prefecture, from Shuzenji Station to Nirayama Station.
There are many hot springs in the Izu region, and this railway was built primarily to transport tourists heading to the hot springs. The entire line opened in 1924.
Even now, the area along the line has not been heavily urbanized, and rice paddies and farmland can be seen here and there from the train window. At the terminus, Mishima Station, the line connects with the JR Tokaido Line. This line is known for being able to see Mt. Fuji from the line if the weather is good and there are no clouds. On this day, clouds were hiding Mt. Fuji. I will try to take a video of the view of Mt. Fuji next time. Photo taken in September 2024
