The amount of maths references to the amount of lines in the song are very similar, resulting in a very small common ratio. So no matter how far you push the limit, the amount of sequels to the series always converges back to 0.
I just have to say, I emailed this video to my math professor and he enjoyed it so much that he watched it several more times and doing so made him late to his Calc II lecture. I think that qualifies as irony... Love the video.
Can't believe this video is 12 years old. I was 6 years old and now I'm at university. It popped in my head a few days ago from math class and I had to find it. Truly fantastic.
Not only are the lyrics accurate, well thought out, and abjectly *hilarious*, but the video is extremely well acted and edited as well! This is my new favorite math video on TH-cam! I can't believe you guys did this in high school! [5/5]
2021, I remember I found this video in 2014, when I was facing a hard time with Calculus at my degree in Engineering. At first it was funny, but as I watched for the 7th time (I do procrastinate a little), I realized it was telling me exactly what I needed to learn. I remembered the song at my exams aand didn't passed, obviously, there were plenty more than limits, derivatives and integral. But at least I smiled. 7 years later, I'm still here guys, hope you're all having an awesome career and life.
Ok...can I just say, I'm 49 and will be taking calculus this fall (I'm in TRIG now) and I was like 17 when I will Survive came out. But you, you have done an incredible video. I hope I'll have that talent when I get my deriving license. Awesome video...a favorite.
it's scary to think that when this video was released, i wasn't alive yet. in two years, i'll understand all of the things this song talks about. time passes. and when i'm in a classroom like this, the thing definitely stuck in my head will be this. thank you.
You could just convert images frame by frame to monochromatic bitmaps but I'm assuming they used a more efficient method than that; perhaps a filter. Looks good though.
+FreeCpRareAccounts1 Depends on circumstances. I was doing multi variable calculus and thermodynamics during high school. I go to community college, go figure.
UnforsakenXII Finances > academics in the education system. That's why I don't like the stigma of community colleges, people always assume those attending them are stupid. That definitely does apply to some of the students, but there are definitely students who are smart.
Got recommended this in 2023. Probably didn't come across it earlier, probably cos when it came it out I hadn't learned calculus yet. Glad to have found it now.
16 years later and this song is still amazing. I'm using this as background music while I study. It's crazy to think this video was uploaded 2 months after I was born!
can't wait till I finish calculus 2 and never have to take tests on it again. College and School, without tests and stress, is actually pretty cool mostly.
This video is so much fun that I've watched it over and over. I sent the link to my Calculus teacher and he's going to let the entire class watch it. I'm sure everyone's going to get a kick out of it. From one Calculus fan to another--thanks a million!
From another comment: "I was their calculus teacher. The one with the curly hair went to the University of Oklahoma and went on to Carnegie Mellon and got his masters. He could have went anywhere he wanted and majored in anything he wanted, but his love was film and I believe that is what he majored in. The other young man went to the University of Arkansas and got his degree in Electrical Engineering, and he is now a proud dad. The girl that made a cameo in now an instructor at Northeastern State University. All were fantastic students and great kids."
I watched this video for the first time when I was still at high school, it's been like 10 years, now I'm thinking of showing this to my math students!
If I had a dollar for every calculus parody song I've heard this year, I'd have $4. If it counted for every play of said songs, closer to $20 lol Well made and still holds up, y'all did great!
This was an awesome parody, not to mention a very well-done video. Math is my favorite school subject, too bad I am no good at it:( I like to try to minimize usage of a calculator -- I like to use my head as my calculator as much as I can. I am considering pursuing a degree in mathematics...
This song (and the guy who suddenly started dancing in the background) were hilarious... How did you guys integrate all those math references into one song? I thought there was a limit.
Well, it just converged all together. It's sad that there is no series to this.
The amount of maths references to the amount of lines in the song are very similar, resulting in a very small common ratio. So no matter how far you push the limit, the amount of sequels to the series always converges back to 0.
