- as of june 12: this SHOULD be working properly now, but i've still heard reports of buggy servitor bosses. your results may vary
here we go again. all region chests, all scrap locations, all traveler locations, everything you need to get this thing and how to actually get to their locations too. NOTE: apparently you can lose all of your motes by just killing the servitor boss late in the mote process, just try to do it early. i dunno how much if it is a known issue or not, but i truly dunno what's causing the issue, pop off in the comments if you do. something to do with the boss consuming all the motes, but not spitting out the exotic one.

PSA. Collect the Sword Dance Bit while doing the Cyst, NOT at the end.
You need the sword to get to the Bit, and whichever pervert at Bungie designed this one made the swords despawn after you complete the Cyst.

@@pearson674 you can kill him but you have to hunt round the map for the exotic mote, have heard that his death animation flings it someone on the map. I didnt see id lost my motes until a few hrs later

To anyone losing their mind in the blooming trying to get the servitor boss to spawn and do that first, they've removed it from rotation until it can be fixed, so exotic khvostov is currently impossible to get unless you killed the servitor before they took it out of rotation

It seems that some bosses just straight up dont drop motes of light sometimes and they can fall of the map with no way to collect them, honestly I have no idea what brilliant minds at Bungie decided they should be physical objects rather something tied to triumph.
Region Chest locations start at 0:57
Cyst, and Scrap Heap, locations starts at 3:55
Legendary Khvostov location at 10:25 , (requires 15 "Lost Encryption Bits" from Regional Chests & Scrap Heaps found in Cyst activities)
Mote of Light locations start at 11:09
Exotic Khvostov location at 16:55 , (requires 17 "Mote of Light" from open world secrets & unique drops from each Overthrow boss)
Wait I need to go searching for the other motes? Not all are from the overthrow bosses?

@@Shadoxas As far as I, and seemingly Datto, knows; yes. I think you need all 17 motes. Some of which are from the overthrow bosses, and the rest can be found as the traveler looking symbols in secret places. The time-stamp shows Datto running to each of these "secret" objects. That is what Datto insists in this video, at the very least.

Hung Jury is currently in talks with Bungie to also come back again in Act 3 of Echoes, with the weapon proposing that it's popularity will increase tenfold, if it had what it's called an "OP Origin Trait".
When the EX-Omolon Scout Rifle was asked about Khvostov's return, it claimed that the weapon is for so-called "Crayon Eaters" and that it's exotic status is the result of under the table dealings and bribery.
Representatives at the Destiny 2 developer have yet to be reached for comment, but insiders suggest that Hung Jury is hopeful to delight the fans with its presence...once again.

victim of the meatball here: you cannot re-get the motes after it eats them. however, when you do kill it if it *is* your last, the exotic mote is in the instance somewhere: the death animation just launches it, so you have to find it. some people say it flies as far as out of the cave, and some people say it flies into the wall.
So the meatball just can't be the one you kill last is what I'm hearing? I really wanna do this quest after I get off work.

If you do have the Meatball as the final boss you need, on its death, it converts all the motes into that Giga exotic one. The death animation of the meatball typically sends the exotic mote flying somewhere on the map. You can still collect it. Seems just exploring blooming after its death can lead you to find it. Sometimes even running against the walls as it could get stuck there as well.
Is it spawning? Bungie said it was disabled
Just as a warning, it looks like the encryption bits in cysts are based on the party leader. I went with a buddy through the sword dance cyst when they were lead, it wasnt there, and when i ran it on my own it showed up. Either that or a minor bug, but, worth mentioning if anyone else gets very condused at 14 bits.

If you are in doubt whether you have defeated the bosses in the regions, you can check your journey progress where it will state which bosses you have defeated and which you haven't

As of June 11th, Bungie posted they fixed the issue and enabled the Servitor in the Blooming, but the mote isn't consistently dropping for all players.

use DIM to move your motes to the vault and then kill the meatball again. worked for me i was stuck on the last mote

That stupid servitor is still bugged. I've killed him 3 times now and my triumph hasn't updated for the kill still, and he just wont drop a mote (even when my motes are in my vault). AAA game btw. No wonder Sony is taking over
Thank you for the clear information. I am so frustrated with this quest. I did not know that about the Bloom boss takes motes. I have done everything including killing the bosses three times n hopes to get the Exotic mote to drop. I only have 14 motes. I also did not know they just dropped on the ground somewhere. Bungie really needs to fix this. So now I don't get the gun. What a waste of time.

yeah so, i have 16 motes, have all the triumphs for the bosses in all areas (don't remember killing the meat ball) and all the travelers + legendary khvostov so i assume that it's been disabled for the time being

@@asilduin4594 me too, im missing 1 mote and triumphs show that i got all the bosses, i dont remember fighting the ball in the blooming. My guess is that the boss, even though replaced is counting towards triumphs, thus its why it is so confusing.

"To address issues obtaining the Khvostov 7G-0X exotic, we have removed the Taken Servitor boss from The Blooming's Overthrow rotation. A fix to address players currently blocked from obtaining Khvostov will be deployed in a future update." So at least Bungo know and are fixing it.
It's still disabled after reset so this hasn't been fixed yet. Koftis will still not appear, I'm stuck at 16.

Soooooo I've fallen victim to said bug because now I only have 16 even after all the bosses and the collectables
The bug happened to me. The servitor boss drops the mote of light AFTER returning to orbit. If the mote is the 17th mote, then all of your motes are removed and you dont get the exotic mote, softlocking you. To prevent this, dont get all of the traveler orb collectibles until you kill the servitor boss in the Blooming, AND return to orbit afterwards, the orbit part is what got me.
What if I collected every traveler before getting the exotic mote ?

quick heads up you can get a mote of light to drop from a boss you have killed before dunno what the drop chances are but i know this is possible from killing the hive knight guardian in the landing

2:the bug doesn’t effect the earlier parts so it doesn’t matter, whether it’s bugged or not you can still do the steps before it

I used to follow your guides a lot, but this one is pretty bad. There is no efficiency in the time it takes us to get all these. Maybe show us where the traveler collectibles are while we are doing the cysts activities... Also some are not clearly shown where they are in your vid and no context how to get there. Just some feedback :) , thanks tho!

Here's a tip: if you have 16 motes and your last one is from the Blooming final boss, put your motes in your vault, kill the boss, pick his mote and then get the rest of your motes from vault. They should turn into an exotic mote and you can claim your exotic Khvostov. If they don't (from using vault from Pale Heart) go to orbit and it should turn to exotic mote and you should be fine.
i have 16 of the 17 motes needed, collected all the travelers that i need, and also completed the triumphs for killing all the bosses needed and i dont know where to get the last one so idk if i was caught by the bug and didnt even know and lost one of my mote

It's bugged and you can get stuck at 16/17 motes. "To address issues obtaining the Khvostov 7G-0X exotic, we have removed the Taken Servitor boss from The Blooming's Overthrow rotation.
A fix to address players currently blocked from obtaining Khvostov will be deployed in a future update." That Taken Servitor was CONSUMING your light, not dropping it. Hopefully the next update will fix this.

I’ve always wondered how the recommended power system works, but never got a clear answer.
When it says that your power is capped at say, 1985. But the recommendation is 2000. Does the game-
(A) Check for the power cap, and then drop you accordingly. So if I’m 1990, I would drop to 1985.
(B) Drop you power by 15, then double checks if you’re still under the cap. Same 1990 power, but it drops to 1975.
Recommended power means enemy level
Example:
Recom 2000
Modifier -15
Your Power 1990
Game puts you at 1985, power lead puts anyone below 1980 at 1980

If the power is capped at a specific value and you are over it, you will be dropped down to that level while in the activity
Recommended power is the power of the activity or the enemy.
The cap is like what you said at A.
This means you don't get any benefit from being higher, for eaxample GMs once at cap you get no benefit from getting higher,.. however if you are lower you deal less damage and take more damage.
One last thing is there are activities where the light power disabled.. like for example this season legendary campaign.. whatever your light is does not matter you are pre set on a certain light level relative to the activity.
There is also a general cap by bungie for even the activity that you can level up to pass the recommended activity level to make it easier...this mechanic is to make sure you don't over level anything in the game so they remain relevant and so you can't one shot strike Bosses for example. The general cap is 50 as far as I remember.
It’s option A. The game will not lower your power if you are below the power cap

I did the meatball early on but i only have 16 motes with all the statues done and have beaten each of the unique bossses in overthrow so I'm guessing mine bugged out a different way and won't be able to get it.
In the exact same boat. Didn’t know about the glitch, got my motes eaten somehow, and am stuck at 16/17 because I killed all the Overthrow bosses before realizing my first mote was eaten. All we can do is wait for a fix, unfortunately.

Can confirm that u can obtain the final note if the eyeball is the last boss. U just have to run it multiple times until the more drops. Took me four clears before it dropped final mote

This is currently impossible to complete due to Bungie flat out removing the servitor boss from the overthrow missions.

@@CloakedUS found the issue, i was in a fireteam with a member who found one that i didn't pick up. that counted for the triumph but didn't give me the bit. khvostov here i come : )
It's a shame guides like this don't have chapters in the video. Makes it cumbersome to watch when other guide provide the qol of having chapters setup to jump to the steps you need.

This quest was wayyyyyy to long and convoluted it literally took 3 days of grinding to complete all the weapon unlocks and then doing all the running around thank goodness for TH-cam

My quest is bugged. One of the bosses didnt drop a mote for me. And not the final boss, one of the other random ones. Very confused now.
EDIT: both the triumph and the bosses are bugged. you remember not fighting a boss, than load into that zone and fight it. If you don't, try doing an overthrow solo in every area. It should hopefully prevent duplicate bosses and give you only the one you need if you load into each instance and do it once. Additionally, the meatball isn't in the blooming right now, so if you have 16, you're on pace with everybody else as of now. Hope this helps people who are confused.
TL:DR: meatball isn't spawning (on purpose, bungie pulled it as of now) bosses triumph tracker isn't working right, refight bosses in each area zone by zone.
