For phenomenal solos: Chance leads throughout in their covers of I Can't Outrun You (Trace Adkins) and Cover Me Up (Jason Isbell). Austin kills When a Man Loves a Woman (Percy Sledge). Rob is sublime in Blue Ain't Your Color (Keith Urban).
It's so hauntingly beautiful isn't it. I got chills especially when Tim is standing in front of the window and you can see right through him. They were almost like the 'dead soldiers' singing... Harmonies were gorgeous.
a classic and a masterpiece. Tim tinkered with this arrangement after he got permission from the the Finnish group Club 4 Five to do this arrangement. Of course Home Free perfected it :-)
As an old army veteran this one hits me hard. I love that Home Free has such a range of songs, some very funny and some with a serious message and everything in between.
As a veteran, this song really resonates with me every time I listen to it. Many people think we fight for our country, and we do, but it's really about the brother on each side of you. Great reaction, thank you. Home Free never disappoints. I've seen them live and they put on a fantastic show. They're very down to earth. My personal favorite is their upgrade of Crosby, Stills and Nash's Helpless Hoping. It is a vocal master class. Check it out!
Yeah this is one of my favorites that they’ve done… The cinematography on this is so good…to me, it looks like they are spirits the way you can see the window frames and light through them…as if they are fallen soldiers singing to their fallen brothers… gets me every time I watch it..
Home Free has no lead singer so this was perfect with Tim and Chance lending their deeper voices to this somber song. They looked ghost like in the windows. Loved the echoes. It’s one of my favorites. They have so many songs with Austin and Rob. To hear more of Chance try I Can’t Outrun You, Yours, Some Girls Do. 😄
This song sounds so different from the original artist! Home Free received the arrangement from an a cappella group called club for 5. I like the work Home Free put into it! Somber and just great harmonies! Making you want to stand and salute the ones that has given and are still giving their lives! Thanks for this one! Low bass Kenneth
This chokes ME up every time. So beautiful. If I HAVE to pick my favorite from Home Free, this would be the one. You listened intently and with respect. As a veteran, I really appreciate that!
This message is probably one of the most serious subjects they perform. It’s so solemn, as depicted by their stillness. I enjoy that you pick up on the delivery of the song and not just the notes they can sing. Thank you for coming down the rabbit hole with us! 🎶 Cyd
Home Free treated this presentation with a high degree of respect, it was very sobering and intentionally dwelling on those who have given all. Also, pointing out the desire for PEACE not war as those fighting are put into harm’s way by those who are making the decisions that take the lives others. Their video was well done, simple but very purposeful in the reflection of those who gave all and reflecting on those still serving. Thank You Home Free!!! ❣
To REALLY see what Home Free can do, you have to watch a live performance done in Kearny, MO. Their concert got cancelled by a thunderstorm. The fans were sheltering under a pavilion when they guys came to give them the bad news in person, however they wanted to give the fans one last song, "How Great Thou Art". This is PURE acapella. No Mics, No Amps, no beneficial acoustics, just 5 guys on a picnic table recorded on a cell phone with only a thunderstorm for a background. It is magical.
Excellent reaction. You should check out 'In The Blood' and 'Helplessly Hoping' covers by Home Free - you will get to hear more of the different members, and you won't be disappointed in the music.
I really appreciated your heartfelt reaction. #HomeFree never disappoints and the simplicity of the video and the depth of the lyrics and harmonies is vocal perfection!
👣👣 .... I have watched this numerous times already , and certainly will watch it many more. I fell in love with the Dire Straits song many years ago .. the precision of Mark Knopfler's guitar playing gives me chills .. and tears. These men from Home Free replaced that feeling with their voices and they honored this great song to perfection. I am very glad that you experiencing Home Free. I will suggest a great song , where Rob gets to use his amazing voice as lead . "Blue Ain't Your Color" .. by Keith Urban Have a great day ! 👣👣
@@MrsRealistic I am a big Dire Straits fan. I think Mark Knopfler should be included in conversations with Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page, Derek Trucks, David Gilmour and my all time favorite.. Stevie Ray Vaughan as the best that ever strummed the 6 strings.
Tim heard a Swedish or Finnish group called "Club for Five" do this and asked for their arrangement. The song is referencing the Falklands War between Great Britain and Argentina back around 1984.
Hello! I am a Home Fry that just found you and subscribed! Home Free is my favorite group by a mile! They can sing songs of reverence that bring you to tears like this one and Go Rest High On That Mountain, Amazing Grace and How Great Thou Art with stunning 5 part harmonies while giving the songs the respect they deserve. Then they have songs that are just plain fun and bring you to tears of laughter like Champagne Taste On A Beer Budget, Brother, Good Ol’ Boys Good Times, Life Is A Highway, Jump Right In and everything in between. They have many awesome originals that should be on the radio in my opinion. Thank you for reacting to this stunning song, as I’m sure you can tell I love these boys! ❤ #HomeFree
Hi my friend did you get my message about the nightwish video the version in Buenos Aires is a better one if already done that's ok many thanks sorry to be a pain love and respect from the UK 👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
Love this version and the talent is undeniable but the way they make the guitars sing in the original Dire Straits song can never be matched in my humble opinion. Great reaction as always ❤
This is a rabbit hole. You're gonna want to jump in too. These gentlemen are phenomenal.Check out the covers of " End or the Road", "Mayday" , "When a man loves a Ŵoman", " Bless the Broken road" for starters, you won't be disappointed.
A couple of good ones with all of their voices in play - "Still Haven't Found What I'm looking for" U2 with Peter Hollens "American Pie" anniversary release with Don Mclean Yes, they will us s the voice(s) they feel best fit the song whether cover or original.
This is a truly beautiful arrangement, heartfelt and touching. I am partial to the Dire Straits original, as I grew up listening to that version. Thanks Mrs R. ☮️
This is so hauntingly beautiful. The arrangement was created by Club for Five, a Finnish group. Their version is certainly worth a listen - very different from this one because it is mixed male and female voices and with instruments. For a next taste, I recommend their recent original Playing With Fire or their cover of the Dobbie Brothers' iconic Listen to the Music.
More Home Free: Mayday (cover of Cam's song) and the most perfect song ever performed, a cover of Crosby. Stills & Nash "Helplessly Hoping". It really is perfect.
Thank you for such a respectful review and letting the song play. I felt like you were really listening and getting the message. There are not enough reactors out there that let it be about the music instead of being about themselves. You let it be about the music.
This is such an incredibly somber rendition. So heavy-hearted. I know the original has that kind of feel, but I think Home Free took the seriousness of the emotions of the song, to the ultimate level.
As far as Home Free group vids, there are no bad choices. Have fun. Vids that highlight individual members... "Mayday" has spots from all 4 singers, but with an unusual twist. "How Great Thou Art" is a straight reverential arrangement with no beatboxing, so everyone... even Adam Rupp... has singing spots. "When a Man Loves a Woman" is an Austin lead, comparable in my opinion to the Michael Bolton version. "Nessun Dorma" (on Austin's solo YT channel) shows Austin and Rob doing opera. Rob is actually operatic trained, and Austin is musical theatre trained, so the rendition is better than most folks would've expected. The singing duo "The Hound + The Fox" (that's the exact name of their channel) has Adam Chance as a guest on several of their songs. Adam also has his own solo channel, and some of those songs are posted in both places. Tim has a solo channel, and he does something similar to Geoff. Multitracks himself and sings all the parts. So that's a way to hear his full range. Best choice would probably be "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow / Stay."
I love eveything about this cover but the blatant use of the US flag in the video, it would have been more impactful for the fans not in the States to picture their own countries lost soldiers while listening. As you mentioned "Brothers in Arms" is a song by British rock band Dire Straits, the closing track on their fifth studio album of the same name, released on 18 October 1985. It was written in 1982, the year of Britain's involvement in the Falklands War. In 2007, the 25th anniversary of the war, Mark Knopfler recorded a new version of the song at Abbey Road Studios to raise funds for British veterans who he said "are still suffering from the effects of that conflict." I saw this tour in Calgary and when they played this it was eerie 😢.
Very fitting that should do this so close to Sabaton's _Christmas_ _Truce,_ since they are both gut-wrenching and convey roughly the same message. Both bands are well worth seeing live, but for different reasons - a Sabaton show is a lavish theatrical experience, one with Home Free is a party. You will get many many different suggestions for your next HF reaction because their output is so varied - they can be heartwarming, intense, silly, uplifting, whatever you want. For a change of pace I might suggest _Workin'_ _for_ _a_ _Livin'_ or _Champagne_ _Taste_ _on_ _a_ _Beer_ _Budget,_ but it's hard to go wrong. Enjoy!
Thanks so much! Sometimes I get blocks on other reactions I've done, and I have to wait to see if they'll be viewable. The ones that I end up being able to upload go in a different order than I intended... so it was a bit serendipitous that Sabaton and Home Free were uploaded so closely. 😊
Check out an original song, " CHAMPAGNE TASTE ON A BEER BUDGET " written by Tim Foust. 👊🏾🎶🎶nice reaction. A new member has join the group his name is Adam Bell- Bastien...Austin Brown has left the group for solo and personal reasons.
How Great Thou Art is another song where they all sing, and Adam Rupp actually has a brief solo. For humor, try the Butt Medley, which is an older song mashup with Chris Rupp still in the group. Chance replaced Chris when Chris decided to go out on his own. There is also a live professional recording of the Sea Shanties that is out of sight. These are just a few of their songs. From the Vault shows them behind the scenes of their videos, and there are phone recordings posted by audience members of live performances of songs and sometimes their bloopers. Join the fun.

This song deserves reverence and respect 🙏
Such a painful song and topic. Thank you for giving it the respect needed!

Hauntingly beautiful yet sends a powerful message. They remind me of a pipe organ at the climax. Sends shivers up the spine.

Club For Five is Finnish. Home Free only added the echoes to CFF's a capella arrangement.
Home Free chooses their leads by whomever has the voice(s) that fit best for the particular song.
They made a great choice in this one! Very cool arrangement!
