its funny that you mention tyler being unpopular because from what i've seen hes the most beloved 'side' character in the whole fandom, at least on tumblr. ive never seen a single person say they dislike tyler
I guess we could say he's one of the most unpopular amongst the production team and staff, considering how little he's been used throughout the franchise compared to most others. He's one of the few original characters to never make the merge.
When Tyler said in World Tour that he was the least talked about contestant, that was pretty much just a joke, and it was a decade ago as well. Since then, the Tyler fandom has grown a lot. He's not unpopular anymore, he's quite liked among the fanbase. Most of this is thanks to his run in World Tour, where I gotta say he's one of the best characters and it's what made me have him very high on my list.
Heather was S tier from start to finish in season 1, and she’s the mean girl archetype any series like tota drama needs. I totally agree with your placement.
I also agree with Izzy in A tier. Her wild personality makes her recognizable against the cast, and she’s wacky because *haha FBI agents are after me.*
I did watch both comprehensive reviews and tier lists, and I'm excited to see you view World Tour and Ridonculous Race just because Noah is such wasted potential in this season since he was booted so early and wasn't one of the 14 in Action...
Honestly I probably put her too low along with a lot of other characters. After watching the later seasons more closely I feel like I didn't give all the originals the credit they deserved
Going off something Schaffrillas said in his Noah video, I think that Katie and Sadie are contenders for D tier for this list. Not only are they not that interesting or funny, but also keeping Sadie on for several episodes after Katie left really took away from the earlier contestants' screen time. Both of them probably should've been second, third or fourth voted off in order to give Noah, Cody, Tyler and others some more time to shine.
My guess is the writers didn't boot them off as early as possible because they thought it would be too predictable. Like, oh here's these two vapid characters who don't do much and are kinda annoying and are also the exact same as each other...they're going to go early for sure, and one after the other. That's probably what the writers assumed the audience would think.
agre with most of these... except harold, cody, noah and lashawna all of which for me are a tier. Yes Noah and cody leave quickly but by god they have some of the funniest lines and moments for me while they were there and both were a joy all the way until their ends which is more important to me than if they got fleshed out, which to be fair for how short they are in the show, both are very clearly defined characters. Both though peak in world tour where I adore them (cody is actually my favourite character btw I just love his dorkiness but his absolute devotion and wimpyness towards gwen). But harold is too iconic with Idiot Gah and the beatbox bit alongside all his whining and smug moments and lashawna and heather make for some of the best rivalry moments right from the start, both definitely deserve a tier, but hey I understand where you're coming from, so pretty great list :) Gwen or owen in season 1 specifically are probably my favourites, courtney takes a bit to get exciting for me as the first few episodes shes kind of annoying but thankfully she gets so good as it goes.
He’s really fun both looking at him from the perspective of a meme-y side character and from the perspective of watching him in the earlier seasons thinking about the absolute constant tragedies that befall him in later seasons, which honestly really endears you to him when viewing his character in Island where you get to see really wholesome moments like him laughing at Harold’s jokes etc. Personally, I would’ve placed him in A tier.
Good choices! Nearly identical to my own. I will say, Heather has really grown on me since I started writing her in Creeps Cut (self plug) so I'd put her in A tier at least! My favs from S1 are Duncan, Owen, Gwen, Heather and Courtney personally.
It sounds like your more neutral on Harold than like or dislike because I remember watching your video of you reviewing total drama island and then theirs the part where you reacted to Courtney’s elimination and then you reaction to when Harold got bs k at Duncan like the wrong way I would call it because it didn’t really make scenes to cheat of Courtney it would make more sense to vote of Duncan since he was the one that was picking on him! But Harold did that just too throw Duncan off his game just like Duncan threw Harold off his game In episodes 10 & 12 witch made Harold mad so then that’s when he decided to plan his revenge on Duncan! And also I think the wrighters wanted to Wright more for Duncan so they though voting off Courtney was their choose besides Harold they just were trying too find multiple unique ways to elimination the contentions during the making of the show! That’s basically my theory and so for that matter unlike Justin, Tyler, & Cody, Lindsays eliminations Courtneys was also force to happen at that time don’t get me wrong I like Harold character he’s basically one of my favorite characters of all time now as for Duncan and Courtney’s characters in the the biggest fan of them but I’m neutral on the and I don’t dislike them just because their were some times that I find them pretty enjoyable same goes for a lot of characters! I agree with this list 100% Courtney is my number 1 favorite character in the franchise, even when she falls. She has the most dynamic arc right next to Heather, and Heather is my second favorite character too. We literally have the same taste level. I love it lol.
3:34 Well I don't mean to judge your opinion but I quite frankly disagree with the notion that the new characters are trash, I personally believe some of them would fit perfectly with the first cast, I mean, my favorite character from the whole show comes from season 5.2 and the season 4 cast was even greater, although I personally believe all generations are great and as long as less than half of them don't tickle my fancy I will be fine.
Honestly there's only one ROTI character I'd give D tier, but honestly when it comes to the PI cast there are a few that I genuinely do not like at all
